I'm stuck on Tyrande's bizarre, vague line to Calia in the SL entry quest at the Frozen Throne

End of the day, Faol is canonically Forsaken. Any claim that does not concede that is obfuscatory at best and a lie at worst.

You can share the curse and still not be apart of the Forsaken political body.

It’s the same reason why I’d say Leonid Bartholomew- while of the same curse- isn’t Forsaken, or Lilian Voss, since they immediately went their own way upon coming back from the grave.

It /is/ their choice, as is the core principle of the Forsaken. But it’d be weird to consider him one of the gang if the only thing he shares in common is being of free mind and in danger of one day meeting the mindless state.

Sure.

I don’t necessarily agree or disagree on this.

Weird or not, I just go off what is given by the characters and narrative. Per the quotes, he is Forsaken, for whatever details it feels are applicable.

If people want to qualify how Forsaken he is or One True Scottsman it, whatever. But we don’t create the setting or story.

I feel it’s written by someone who didn’t actually have a hand in the creation of the Forsaken, and I’d almost argue it non-canon, if it weren’t for a certain someone now being an official employee of Blizzard Entertainment.

The Forsaken value free will above all, and then, in BtS, they introduce the Thought Police, a concept which is the antithesis of the Forsaken, and then forced resurrection (?), when at the very beginning of the Cataclysm, they offer you the choice to rise again, or return to the grave.

Whoever’s at the helm isn’t really doing their homework and it’s weird.

I’ll be the first to admit that Blizzard is very slapdash with the lore. But as I noted earlier, my dislike towards any facet doesn’t invalidate it either. That’s my only point in hammering on such a technicality.

Ok :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s only Shandris. The night elves only care about vengeance against the Banshee.

Wrong! https://www.wowhead.com/news=295305/alliance-npc-dialogue-after-war-campaign-finale-boralus-and-stormwind

Night Elf Sentinel (1) : My brothers and sisters still seek vengeance for Teldrassil. But I… I am so tired of war.

Night Elf Sentinel (2) : To be honest, so am I. Rage still burns within my heart, but I long to live my life without it.

Night Elf Sentinel (1) : I hope that one day, we can.

If Sylvanas was actually as brilliant as the story claims she is, she should’ve allowed them to defect. The ones on the council were, in her own words ‘a handful of merchants and laborers’…they weren’t soldiers and they didn’t have any valuable state secrets they’ve could’ve leaked to the Alliance. If Sylvanas really wanted to take down Stormwind and turn everyone undead as the novel implied, the smart thing to do would’ve been to ‘prove’ her “benevolence” towards her subjects by oh so generously allowing a few of the council (Parqual and the Felstone boys) to go home with their familiy…then grudgingly ‘admit’ that maybe it was a good idea and ‘reunite’ more people…only these would be her own agents.

But no…see Arthas’s sister, go 'REEEE!" and kill even the loyal council members trying to obey her order to fall back. Master thinker there.

Oh I totally agree.
There were many ways the event could have turned out, and turned out more in Sylvanas favor, too, but she chose to react in the most vengeful and drastic way.
That’s why I don’t understand why people keep calling her a Mary Sue, or why the game describes her as this cold, calculating master tactician when in fact she makes a lot of mistakes and tends to irrational actions when emotionally triggered.
It doesn’t add up, but hey, that’s Blizzard writing for you.

She was actually thinking about doing it in the novel. However, if there is one thing Sylvanas has consistently shown is that she is a very emotional person and is willing to toss out her plans/lets them fail for a spur of the moment decision. whether it be letting Arthas suffer instead of killing him immediately when she trapped him to her not attacking Genn because she was too busy licking her own wounds from losing the lantern to Teldrassil. She is her own worse enemy.

Just because they wanted the war to be over doesn’t mean they don’t want vengeance. They’re willing to let their High Priestess carrying it out for them.

Just to be clear what was actually said, that they’re “tired of fighting”.

Ahaha, Vol’jin

It seems bit kind of off in terms of Calia being Horde atleast in terms of going to be Alliance but… Sorry this is confessing.

Being tired of fighting doesn’t mean you’re giving up on seeing justice for your people. The night elves want to see the Banshee in pieces.

And that’s why so many of us are expecting an argument between Jaina and Tyrande. Tyrande will be furious with Jaina for agreeing to peace with the beasts who destroyed the city she built, the same beasts who destroyed the tree. Tyrande will point out that if Jaina had returned sooner, Teldrassil would still be standing. She’ll also be furious with Varian, as he should’ve dismantled the Horde after the disposition of Garrosh Hellscream. Since Varian isn’t alive, she’ll take it out on Anduin.

Everyone knows that there can NEVER be permanent peace with the Horde. They’ll ALWAYS go to war with the Alliance. It’s a cycle that can NEVER be broken.

Ok, but you said ‘that’s incorrect’ when Ferlion said ‘there are already Night Elves in game saying they are done with the war and ready to stop fighting’. Then when someone said ‘that’s not incorrect’ you said ‘that’s only Shandris’.

Believe whatever you want about the other stuff. Just making it clear you were wrong about saying there aren’t Night Elves saying they are done with the war and ready to stop fighting.

Tyrande just gets the dumbest lines.

Run the late-Cataclysm 5-man dungeons. She’s EMBARASSINGLY bad in those, and it doesn’t seem there’s been any improvement.
