It’s constantly a thing lol.
“I haven’t done m+ in 6 years, but here is my advice on how to fix it”

“I haven’t done m+ in 6 years, but here is my advice on how to fix it”
This is somewhat why I don’t help people anymore, because I’ll have some random streamer on the internet who plays all day every day be way better than me and it will just 100% make me look like a fool and I don’t want to look like a fool.
So I’m not a bad player, I’m just average, but even at that I don’t want to embarrass myself.
6 years is quite generous
Which is foolishness, to think they are uninformed. I can easily point people to the correct resources, but importantly, i have done AOTC content in the past and absolutely can inform someone on classes ive played a ton of.
People whine about the 19 second ramp of DH, required movement, etc. To me, i have the pattern long memoorized aling with priorities for what needs to happen when. Because i have informed myself. I know when to save my movement or use it. These are skills that icy veins doesn’t have the time to go in depth for.
But i dont do AOTC anymore. So discarding my experience, especially if you’re too lazy to look it up for yourself? Toxic behavior. Illogical.
People are the worst. That’s why most people prefer using LFG over forming friend groups.
People will always be the problem. Sorry they were rude.
592 ilevel and i have beat a few more geared players than me. Its not that hard to look up some guides on how to play a class/spec. Or read what your abilities do and figure out how to play.
Eh, it’s kind of like how ilvl doesn’t automatically mean good performance.
But it sure helps hedge the bet if you don’t know anything about them.
Someone with a low ilvl / no achievements can absolutely know what they’re talking about.
But it’s far more likely that someone doing only world content and delves isn’t the most knowledgeable person to ask about how to play a spec correctly.
It’s weird that they asked apparently the first Frost Mage they saw if they were going to be picky about it, but the sentiment of wanting someone with more experience to answer them is reasonable.
I help anyone that ask. When they want details I direct them to the mage discord or icyveins.
I’m going to take the advice of people clearing end game content over a 604 mage with “15 years of experience” and no current end game experience because they don’t know the current meta/fight mechanics due to lack of experience in the current content and there’s nothing wrong with that opinion. There’s also nothing wrong with you being 604 and not playing end game content. However, I guarantee youre going to do very poorly compared to a mage with 1 tier of experience clearing M+ and mythic raiding in that content. I have 15 years of experience playing my warrior but zero current content end game experience on him. Someone that does for 1 tier or even one month is going to blow me out of the water.
This was just someone trying to get a rise out of a player that they knew wasn’t doing that content already. You got baited by a jerk that was just looking to troll you. Sorry that happened but I would avoid paying their attitude forward onto others just because you found a jerk in the game.
WoW is a game where you can choose your friends and who you want to play with. If you want, you can completely ignore the fact that there are people who have no interest in playing like you and pretend they don’t exist. Or shouldn’t. And certainly don’t deserve help, or they would have been born as talented as you chose to be born. They should value the things you value. And they should treat you with the awe and respect you demand.
usually ends with " can I have some gold ? "
I saw something scary on my server yesterday, a hunter helping a mage in Gen chat. I was so much in shock I questioned sobriety
I think it is like life a bit a round here, for every bad story, you never hear about one that is good… because the good people don’t need to write about… idk, I’m polluted.
At least you aren’t getting gold beggars asking you for money.
I’ve not been asked for advice on either my druid or my paladin but sure as all be, just idling around the PVP area in Dorn and 2 random people begging me for gold. O.o
What a time to be alive.
< — Me. Right here. Raises hand XD
I actually don’t know what damage I do. Recount doesn’t work anymore, and Details lags my game to high heaven. But I have no idea what I’m actually doing - I just like collecting and soloing stuff. lol
Push button, pet go burr, me gud. >:3
(And just to clarify, if I ever tried serious group content I would learn the class and enchant and all that. But I do enjoy being an ignorant, carefree casual at the moment. XD)
“in this expansion.”
People can look at my armory profile. I don’t mind. I like the content I play in this game, and I am entirely open about my skill level and the mid content I enjoy right now.
But just because I’m running 7’s this expansion doesn’t mean I’ve never done higher keys (I have). Just because I main a druid right now doesn’t mean I’ve never played any other class in higher-level content (I have).
Anybody asking in open chat channels for assistance is not a serious contender for bleeding edge content.
Shutting OP down in this scenario was a troll move, and nobody can know ANYTHING about a player’s experience and/or skill level just by looking at a current armory, ilvl, or io score.
If you are truly a CE caliber player, you don’t ask in trade chat for tutoring. There are discords and guild pages and online guides far more helpful in that way. This guy who just dismissed OP after they assisted a perfect stranger in an MMO is a troll and unworthy of consideration. Full stop.
This reminds me of the fools that thought being a guide should be reliant on having high line content done. The thing is guides are meant to aid/help new players, or those that have been off of wow for YEARS, not those looking to do high line content.
Experience doesn’t really matter when any given spec changes drastically each patch. Keep up to date doing current content or point them towards a guide, don’t give your 5 patches old advice.
Keep on shining and dowhachayalike
I am current to every patch, precious. Just because i am a “flithy casual” to people who love to torture themselves with mythic dungeons doesn’t mean im incapable of knowing my spec. And my greatest recommendation to someone asking is to direct them to icyveins as a start, and point out damage calculators, party/pereonal recorders and parses if they want to really go for the absolute best they can do.
Dont be so full of yourself. You’ll get further that way.
