Always fun to find someone that enjoys the game whether they are min/maxed or not. I can definitely enjoy a class without really knowing what I’m doing but yeah if I want to step foot into group content I make sure it’s on one I’m reasonably proficient with. The expectation that you don’t waste a second of someone’s time even in the most trivial of content is ubiquitous.

People answer random whispers in game? Do you people also answer random texts from numbers you don’t know?
I use context to know if I can trust the text… if someone texts me about a party I’m supposed to go to next week end, I’ll assume it’s trustworthy enough to reply.
If someone texts me about my bank account though…

You can have all the experience you want in a spec from a few patches ago, but that means nothing in the modern game. Specs change constantly, you can’t claim to be an expert at something when you played it 4 raid tiers ago.
What you were once an expert in no longer exists.
A great example is Ele sham from this tier. I could have given advice for the spec to anyone that asked before the rework, and now it the same Raid Tier I can’t offer anything, as the spec has changed dramatically and any experience I had with it is null.

Total stranger responded to someone asking for help and was treated rudely. The guy who turned OP down was acting like a toddler who asked for the blue cup, was given the blue cup, and then threw it across the room screaming, “NO, I WANT THE RED CUP!”
That is the issue here…not your, “Well, ackchewally” mess about current understanding of specs for high-end content.
Ask how you may help. Ask if he just wants Basics or wants Advance Mythic Raid gameplay. If it’s just Basics, go ahead and help. If it’s the more advance, just tell him the truth that you are not that guy that could help.
Dont be offended if you are not the right candidate to help someone.
He wasn’t offended that he wasn’t the right candidate. He was offended because the guy was a complete horse’s posterior in the way he spoke to him.
If the guy only wanted to speak with CE raiders, he should’ve gone to a website, discord, or guide instead of importuning randos in gen chat and then treating the people who responded like dirt on his boots.

Sometimes, depends on if I’m ordering food and the driver got lost. 100% of the time the driver will be texting or calling from an unknown number.

I think Blizzard was conflicted on that when they designed the requirements.
No good deed goes unpunished. Most people will throw you under the bus for an extra .0001% stats if they could. They care only as long as you are beneficial to them. Especially on this game.

Yeah, the next time the food you pay for is in very poor quality, you can’t complain because you’re not a professional chef. So what do you know about cooking?
When stranger asks me for advice, I just tell them to Google it these days.
This makes no sense.
My argument is simple, why listen to some rando with an item level lower than what Solo Content gives on how to play your class, when a google search would reveal better information written by people who know the class inside and out.

I had four Shaman in December ask me for help on their DPS after pugging Heroic with them (different groups obviously). They were very polite and gracious.
