I agree. This is why if someone ever asks me how to play mage, despite having played it at the Cutting Edge level for years, I always just link them to the guide.
Because it’s the best source of knowledge.

Well i do like to be an active and helpfull member of the community i partake in
Not a jab at you, there was one topic here who claimed that doing Delves as a frost Mage and they got their information from Wowhead on how to play it.
Same! Which is why I try and point people to be the best source of knowledge!

Lmao omg, this guys just a dork. I wouldn’t take it personally. Maybe you read his vibe wrong to begin with or he was a charming little fellow to get what he wants. Either way that’s not a usual experience.
I stopped helping people outside of my friends circle, and my guild years ago. Randoms are free to Google it. This game stopped being friendly somewhere around Cataclysm… and so did I.
LOL yeah I do AoTC and currently only have 10s and 11s but have pushed as high as 15s and before the change 25s/26s.
I dont do mythic raid simply because I dont have the time required and even if I did I play with friends and there arent enough of us to reliably field it and even if there was THEY dont have that sort of time investment.
I easily purple pass everything and usually get a handful of orange passes. In DF S3 when I really pushed (albeit I started pushing half way through the season) I got to Rank 1 for all Hunters on my server group, Rank 43 for MM Hunters in the region and Rank 123 in the world for MM Hunters.
But apparently I still dont know how to play at all or what Im doing because I dont have 18 keys or do Mythic Raid currently.
WoW is incredibly toxic.
that’s why i fall back to this now:
“oh i’m not that knowledgeable about (x class), you should check out wowhead or icyveins or both.”
saves everyone time.
Theres no incentive to.
Plus it doesn’t help that when it comes to deriving satisfaction from getting more gear to make your numbers go higher, you don’t see people around you as stepping pad to elevate you, rather more as obstacles in the way to the mountain summit.
Which is why most everyone takes shortcuts or only looks to the top % for advice as people just want the easiest, quickest path to the end for that next dopamine hit.
Given the choice between a player who has played mage for 15 years but has 604 ilevel, or a player who has played mage for 1 tier and has completed high keystones or mythic raid content, I think I know which one I’m going to ask for advice.
Clearly has never heard of Bruce Lee and his philosophy on practice and experience:
"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
[Bruce Lee](https://www.brainyquote.com/authors/bruce-lee-quotes)
"
Lower ilvl = not doing higher content
not doing content where you’re forced to know what you’re doing.
Because… alts aren’t a thing?

Cool. Prove to me you know what you’re doing and then I’ll happily accept your advice. Doing something for a long time doesn’t mean you’re good at it.
I read “information discarded” in the Earthen voice.
Becoming a mentor in FF14 taught me a lot about people, mainly that they hate advice and being helped, to the point of aggression.
If someone asks for something now, I just do the extra step that they refused to and google it, then give them the link.
Lol why? Basic gameplay of a class doesn’t need Ilvl to understand said class.
Obviously the one who had been playing for 15 years
i also just really dislike this whole “you dont push bleeding edge content therefore you cant know what your talking about” kinda crap that has become the norm in wow
I hate the “I have no experience and never done the content, but my opinion is equal to someone else that has” kinds crap as well.
I do not believe it is the norm, but those people are very vocal. I am personally a spontaneous assistance person. Like just today. It is a lot of snow today and the risk of slipping is increased. So, when I see this person stepping on the bus carrying grocery in her arms, I notice that this is unsafe. So, I gave her a spare, empty grocery bag I happened to have with me.
That is never a thing
