I'm sorry Blizzard, but 8.2 is boring and disappointing so far

Intro quests and heart quest was fine. All ticketiboo. You point, i punch, etc etc. Then i started the najitar stuff and im so confused. Perhaps i shouldnt have explored. I gathered up all the blue quests and since the emissary was up, went exploring so i could pick those up. Now im completely lost. I have a quest that wants me to do three dailys… world quests… nope? blue (classic dailies from panda et al)… nope? I did one. I didnt even know i was doing it. I also did some teleport beacon quest, (hint, just jam every button) in some cave… no reward.
And its all so very purple… my most hated wow quest zone color.
Oh, and everything is up or down. You really need flight for this place.

I’m supposed to be all a tizzy and excited by the new zone, but i just feel completely irritated by everything. Im supposed to find this mass of objects and i assume exploration will naturally lead me to them… nope… or at least nope for the moment. It’s really messy. I mean, and benefit of the doubt, storyline requires messiness. But this is still a bit overwhelming. Im sure i’ll be back tomorrow… but im not sure everone will be. This is some serious dropping of balls here. Who designed this zone? I’ve listened to plenty of Nine inch Nails to know that you’re rewarded by repeated listening and you cant just make a snap judgement, but i worry that not everyone else has that perseverance. If i came back on a whim to check it out, i might think ‘wow, screw this place!’.

I left and came back and honestly I’m enjoying it. Lot of negativity for a lot work most you dont know how to do yourself. Keep up the good work blizzard. I’m having a blast.

Well yeah, because its sending me all over the map. And when i actually finish it… whats the reward? Some quest asking me for 75 mana pearls. I have currently 13.

I don’t how you are able to come up with all of this, unless I’m playing an entirely different game. Maybe try reading the entire quest, since there’s a story in them, and it might be interesting then.

Here’s another one that doesn’t read any of the quests in their entirety.

QQ they could have made the mount only usable for the character who earned it.

Agreed. When the Lich King, Slayer of nations, made his reappearance we got chilling cinematics announcing his return. When Lei Shen, Mogu emperor, defeater of titan keepers made his return, we got chilling cinematics announcing his return(arrival really) and we were ready to get after it. We never heard of him but his reputation preceded him and the cinematics confirmed it. A story was being told. Now we get to watch the continuing saga of a depressed and disillusioned Saurfang with no in game representation of it. First they moved much of the story to comics you had to buy. Now the rest of it is gone, moved into cinematics that are pointless and don’t have any effect on the game? Stop giving our villains names and stories if we’re just mindlessly shooting at things. The pretense is no longer working. Azshara cinematics only make me want to side with her because the factions are so bad.

Did they even raid yet? I need to play over the weekend to see how the new progression system pans out. So far this patch seems to include more foreplay as you progress to ilvl 425.

I’m not interested in what “hyper casuals” are getting out of 30 mins of game time. If casuals are getting best in slot within 60 minutes of game time, then we have a problem.

The very fact that there are some who are complaining so soon just tells me these are not at all players who share my play style.

I personally really enjoyed how they created a pretty sizable chunk of Nazjatar with recycled buildings/aesthetics from Suramar. Well done Blizzard, bravo! /sarcasm

Hang on chap. Why on earth would i? You might be right. Perhaps i should. Yet, for almost twelve years i havent needed to. Now i do. Okay. But ask yourself one basic question: Do you remember the drama of cataclysm. Do you remember the healer rebellion when dps were suddenly forced to actually run dungeons theyd spent the entirety of wrath of aoe spamming and not caring about mechanics?

People are making the timeless isles comparison (admittedly to the gnome zone), but even tanaris (overlooked) had genuine quest progression and a straightforward campaign. Sure. I get it. If blizzrd want to move away from the ‘on rails’ formula, im honestly all for it. Genuinely, i am. But this is too many things… World quests arent dailys. Okay. Blue exclamations arent dailys? Um… okay, but what on earth are these dailies then? Apparently its random quests with zero indication they are daily quests. Just stuff in the world. What part of the game has taught me this thus far?
its jarring. Am i supposed to suddenly read quest text and not just depend on a big blue circle to tell me where to go like i have for the last three expansions? Okay. I get you. I’ll take more care to do so in the future. But what if its someone else, like me, who doesnt browse forums and doesnt listen to your sage advice? What if they think… jings, this is a bit of a mess? Why shouldnt they feel a bit lost by all this?

The little fish goblins from the horde side sound just like the rugrats

Unlike Timeless isle, Nazatar has terrible terrain.

And it is NOTHING like timeless in terms of “fun” activities…3 lame dailies spread of terrible terrain and some WQs. Some random boss spawns in you are lucky, and you get some pearls.

Warfront zones are way superior to all these “outdoor” contents.

SO MUCH THIS.

Every year Scarlet Crusade has a fun “running of the gnomes” event, where everyone would roll a level 1 gnome and run like idiots from Stormwind to Booty Bay. It was hilarious fun to see hundreds of gnomes all running together getting chased by panthers. Now with sharding, you never see more than maybe 20 people once the run starts, as people you are standing next to vanish into thin air. It destroys the sense of a persistent world.

Fun detected, fun deleted.

I like it kind of so far but yes I see the end result coming fast which would be its getting boring all over again. There is potential still to bring certain elements back to this game that would “Fix” it and make the game really fun again but Ion, and act-I-vision, refuse to listen as they lose more customers. They don’t get it because they believe we can be told (programmed) to what we like and enjoy without free will or choice. This has been a common theme in many things. Bringing back vendors has been a suggestion along with many other good ideas from many players. Listen to them and stop pandering to the players that are actually taking the game down. “We who are not as others.”

I’m sorry how is that relevant ? Because we arent developpers, we can’t show negative criticisms towards their work ? that has to be the dumbest thing iv ever read

Even argus… EVEN ARGUS felt more coherent than this. Im sure this is day 1 issues. By day 20 i’ll know this place inside out and wont care. But first impressions matter. I cannot stress this enough. Day 1 should be serious progression. Days 2-20 should be piecemeal opening up of the world. Days 20+ should be ‘i know this place… im farming it for whatever rewards i personally want’.

Day 1 should not be (under any circumstance), go find every flight point, explore the map, perhaps youll (respawn gods permitting) find random object x for (quest n) to help you (15%) achieve goal (y). Its super dumb. You ahould feel at least some progression for a major patch. You should at least feel like youre moving forwards (or at least have some BASIC indication you are). It shouldnt be just a bunch of random quest completions with some trivial gold. You should WANT to log in the next day… and the next… and the next.

Right now its just chaos. Im a shill. Check my previous fangirl posts. But this is a chaotic (storyline notwithstanding) mess. Quests are all over the map. Progression is diffuse and chaotic. This is poor game design. The people who designed this need to take a course.

Here, let me help them:

  1. Players will play exactly how YOU have led them to believe the game is played. If the previous 12 dungeons are aoe spam with zero concern for mechanics, players will aoe the next dungeon with zero concern for mechanics (and here i actually i applaud you for the mega dungeon).
  2. Players have two formulations of ‘dailys’ as a concept: One: emissaries (legion plus), and Two: Blue exclamations (TBC plus). Anything outside this REQUIRES explanation.
  3. Players do not read quest text. Why would they? Since Wrath (and add ons in TBC) they have followed big blue circles to guide them. In vanilla they used Thotbot. In late vanilla they used tom toms. If you want players to read quest text… i dunno, voice act it? Put on a talking head in the middle of my screen and dont let me click off it… either way, ive spent 15 or so years ignoring quest text because… i dunno… its pretty much irrelevant (sorry interns writing this stuff). I know theres a big blue circle that’ll appear on my map when i click on it. Why read it? THANK YOU for making me read it now? But is now the moment? I mean the past three patches (8.0, 8.1, 8.1.5) have all been big blue circles…
  4. I want classic features as well. Check my post history. I get classic. Im a vanila player (bloodguard strength of achievement for the proof/win). But timing is (not) now. (ancient korean joke from last decade).
  5. But…
  6. But remember how reactive the community was in Cataclysm. Just keep this basic information in line.
7 And remember what happened when players could create the barriers of entry in wod.
  7. Im not saying, but im just saying. I predicted blizzards heavy hand would smash down post wod and screw everything up by going too far in the other direction. And it did. Now youre back in panda land trying to bring in too much new stuff (wod). And this feels like it.
  8. Your casual playerbase wants flight. The end. Your hardcore playerbase wants to play the content they enjoy. Stop, for heavens sake, stop… (didnt you learn this decades ago?) trying to make pvpers pve and pvers pvp for bis? I know you REALLY want players to try everything because they MIGHT enjoy it… but more than likely they have. And theyve lost interest in that part of the game. And you should really just look at your data for once and think ‘honestly raiders really enjoy raiding and pvpers really enjoy arena and rbgs and we should encourage that!’.
  9. Love you! But get a grip. This zone is bananas. Stop targetting idiots like me who will play regardless (and work it out) and instead target (and encourage) the players youve lost. What kind of nonsense is it that you have to hit exalted with x faction to create the grandstand feature of BfA? Sure im 4000 rep from kirin tor… and sure i feel very rewarded by hitting that goal. But im sick of leveling by that point. Why would i do it again?.. from lvl 20? Get a grip! Or at least, now that 8.2 has dropped, at least work out a way for abandoned players to catch up? Classic is dropping soon, dudes. Perhaps give those players an incentive to re-engage with the live game through allied races? Come on dudes. Theyve already got a sub. Perhaps a kul tiran/zandalarian might make them enjoy both games equally…

I played for about 5 hours yesterday and didn’t finish my chores in Nazjatar. Spent 3 hours this morning finishing it up and doing mechagon. 8 hours is enough time to decide. Plus I played PTR so well.

At this point you just need to get a job.
