City of Heroes Homecoming… Its free and has a very good community… Its a private server that the people that owned the IP gave them their blessing… Like P99
Also P99 is not bad old school everquest…
Can be of pain to find the titanium disc though…
But holding out for Monsters and memories should be out next year… It’s more of a niche MMO old-school everquest.
If you’re taking a break from an MMO the last thing you should do is play another MMO. Get caught up on single player games. Spider-man 2 is coming to PC. Riven just got a spiffy remake as well.
I fell back in love with that game when it hit mobile, then I fell madly in love when retail took a nose dive SL-DF, I’m still continuously playing it, there’s so much to do and go after. I have multiple 99’s (mining is my most proudest)
Such a beautiful game with such rich deep community and game lore that’s established itself over 20 years. They’re adding a new skill this coming year sailing which will be huge, the game has a ton of depth and a rich fun community.
Well, that’s a hard one considering most multiplayer games tend to be live-service, basically never-ending.
I’d recommend Monster Hunter, but MH Wilds coming next year will certainly be ‘endless’ for a time lmao, like World was.
Honestly, some older multiplayer games do have a definitive end, again mentioning World because it’s no longer getting new content, but what’s there is hours to maybe even months of playtime.
There’s too many games I regularly come back to.
Watching TV does more for me, than playing other games honestly.
I love pretty much anything Ghost Ship makes, I’m a hardcore Deep Rock Galactic enjoyer myself.
Waiting on Rogue Core with anticipation.
-Baldur’s Gate 3, I haven’t finished, still beating myself up over it but it’s too vast of a game and not really my wheelhouse in terms of genre ahah, still love it though.
-Minecraft, is a regular one. I’ve got an insane fortress I keep updating, as the game keeps getting new creatures and types of stone, as well as biomes.
-Binding of Isaac: Repentance, on my Switch. Nothing better than digging through piles of poo for pennies and using your own tears to kill your malformed brothers and sisters in a basement underneath the house that spans all the way to hell. It’s very unique lmao.
It seems, to me, older games might provide some of that of what you’re looking for.
Most newer games are made with live-service in mind.
Yes, the big glowy trees really need two people. BUT the grove spawns at midnight game time and usually someone calls it out so there are 7-8 trees and people there to chop. No need to actually find a group group. Just the need to be close to other players with axes.
This is why I play the Diablo games. It is so so cathartic just mowing down hordes of demons with whatever spell set up I have (or a big smashing hammer!).
I particularly like the Dragon Age series and the new installment is out lately but there are lots of options. Many that can easily eat up 100+ hours on a completion run and you often need multiple play-throughs to see everything. Those that are series can pretty easily offer entertainment and distraction for months.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is also a rec but I almost hesitate to mention it and certain other past highly acclaimed MMORPGs just because everyone seems to know about them.
