I'm done with WoW. Any recommendations for a good palette cleanser?

final fantasy 7 remake intergrade 50% off on steam

metaphor re fantazio or black myth wukong too , the former is on sale 25% off

My “go to games” when I need a wow break, are Baldur’s Gate 3, Elden Ring and Dark Souls 3. Sometimes, I dabble with the RTS Blizz games.

Go onto steam, search by genres you enjoy, and sort by customer reviews.

This this this this. It is free to play on multiple platforms including PC.

It is a very chill game with no fomo (things will repeat again at some point).

It resembles Stardew Valley a little bit, but no combat. There is village, quest line, farming, gathering, crafting furniture and decor, building houses/plots, mining, fishing, cooking, mini games within the game that are cute and fun, relationships with villagers to build - and even date if you want.

The only costs are some of the outfits if you want. Those are totally optional and nothing at all in the game is behind a paywall. Nothing.

Highly recommended. I just finished building a mock up of a camping cabin I have fond memories.

Take things at your own pace and just enjoy it. Doing the current content quest line and building a home plot out would probably take you a couple weeks, esp if you want to do the friendships. It is “done” when you finish your goals.

Out of curiosity, I went and looked at my Steam profile. My top 4 played games:

  1. Terraria (1096 hours) - Each playthrough can be quite long (not sure what my average would be) and I’ve never used mods. There’s no story end, just whether you’ve defeated all the bosses. It’s like 2D Minecraft, so you’re done when you decide you’re done.
  2. Valheim (872 hours) - Average playthrough is probably 40-60 hours; I originally did only vanilla, but eventually started playing only with mods.
  3. 7 Days to Die (763 hours) - I’ve done some vanilla runs, but most of this time is in fully modded experiences (overhaul mods are what they’re called), and the average play time is probably 50-60 hours. This also can technically be played infinitely, as there’s no definitive end point.
  4. Subnautica (522 hours) - Average play time is 30-40 hours. Almost all of my time is strictly vanilla. This does not count some extra time on the PS5.

Warhammer 40k Boltgun, Cities Skylines, Terraria, Red Dead Redemption, Monster Hunter Rise and/or any interesting demos on Steam.

offhand, if you’re looking for something low impact, non pvp and fairly open world maybe try Palia? Sort of a farming/social game with puzzle solving on the side. May not be your bag but it leapt to mind…I personally use it to take a break from Wow. It’s not a COMBAT game by any means, but it does have a ton of skill based hunting and gathering and a pretty open minded player base.

A seriously very nice player base.

Also that, definitely nice and the system actually encourages group efforts by smoothing the rewards to all the participants.

I think I know someone who plays Palia. It’s on consoles?

I know someone was playing it on Steam Deck, not sure about other consoles.

Oh yeah Steam Deck, I think she might have that.

Get some friends, head down to the gym and shoot some hoops.
It’s great exercise and it’s fun.

I always fall back to RPG’s.

Dragon Age, Mass Effect, The Witcher 3, etc…
Also, Mechwarrior.

Great ideas! I’ll also add to that:

take up cooking, volunteer to help an organization in the community, and/or start reading more. I personally just subscribed to National Geographic recently (love it!), and I plan to volunteer at my community center and/or deliver meals to the elderly (Meals on Wheels).

Wow, helping out the community, shooting hoops, going to work, you guys are just so humanitarian and good, can we get you a clap and a pat on the back?? Wowzers.

For a non-mmo I recommend Bg3 as a game to anyone and everyone if you like turn based. Elden ring if you are open to high difficult content.

If you’re looking for another mmo it depends what you’re looking for. Good story? FFXIV. Good endgame: ehhh wow has the best endgame of any mmo it’s not even close. Good open world/exploration: Guild Wars 2/ESO.

That sounds right up my alley but it won’t run on Mac (yet)

  • Windows
  • Steam
  • Nintendo Switch

Oh, and while you can play with others if you want, that is not needed. The came can be played totally single player although you will see others. No stealing of loot, resources, etc to speak of. Of course grouping has some rewards like cosmetics but really not required to do anything.
