running on Heroic. Wanted the green set since it’s my fav color.
As I stated, I could have afforded basic flight at 70 had I not spent a bundle on gear for my main and my alts. This means that at 70 I had at least 1500g But my choice was to buy some goodies first, because I knew I could earn the money I spent back, quickly. As I said it took me about 3 weeks of playing 4 hours a week to earn the 600 I had spent. 12 hours was nothing in TBC.

By that logic players should have had to grind rep to be able to play Draenei, blood Elves, death knights, Worgen, goblin, pandas, monks, and demon hunters. Even classic EQ never forced players to grind faction before someone could play a new race or class. This whole grind rep to unlock allied races is just another way Blizz has found to pad their time-played metric.

im sorry but you’re a returning player. why do you deserve to be handed something that everyone has else had to work for?
Usually I’m 100% sympathetic but this is an mmorpg. you haven’t played at all. instead of complaining then maybe you should play a game that will give you instant gratification instead of coming to the forums and complaining. Mr. new player
There is a lot more things that need to be fixed than rep grind.
So I gotta call it. I was loving the game until I ran into pathfinder. I log in and instantly get angry lol. I hate nazjatar and mechagon. You know its prob not that I hate them I hate the time gate on rep. Like many others have said somedays you get more time to play and can grind a bit more. I log in do my max rep for the day log off in like 20mins.
If this is the plan to get people logging in daily I see why they lose people. Before this I was having fun logging in just to play the game. Stating with my original hunter I knew I had to get to 60 so I could fly. Cool I didnt boost got the flying and it was great. There was a reward to get to 60 that’s the point.
What’s the reward being forced to get rep so you can fly again? Worst part it’s time gated. So I’m taking a break maybe we can get lucky and things will change a bit.

I have most of the allied races, I have all the pathfinders…
…Locking them behind reputation grinds is excessively lazy and, worst of all, boring. It’s 30 minutes of content, at best, stretched out over several weeks.
Please. I don’t mind rep grinds being in the game, but Blizzard, take a few steps back - have rep grinds reward things like mounts, transmogs, minor things that are still fun to have. Locking entire features, or playable races behind them just feels bad. Period.

having everything already available, seems to defeat the entire point of gaming.
I was going to stick around a bit longer cause a friend wanted me to play with them. I figured we’ll see how long they last. They lasted till an hour ago. They quit again already LOL.
So, sub cancelled and payment methods removed. I have time left but when it’s gone I’m gone. I’ll sort all my guys, get their mail cleared, clean out junk from their banks so they’re ready for Shadowlands. if 9.0 is more of the same then I’m done. This expansion wasn’t great but for me 8.3 plain killed it.

This. You shouldn’t have to grind to play allied races. You should be able to play them from the beginning, any race.
Also sorry you don’t like 8.3, yeah BFA is bad, but I don’t think 8.3 is why BFA is bad

There’s no problem with chipping away towards a goal, not one.
There is a problem when the activity you perform to get that goal is incredibly dull, and the reward vastly disproportionate to the fun you had getting it.
A playable race is big - however, the content you actually have to play to get one doesn’t reflect that. It’s weeks of rep grinding (which currently can only be done one way - by World Quests) followed by a very brief story quest.
I don’t think having a grind for the sake of a grind makes this game any more ‘hardcore’, or less ‘Hello Kitty Island Adventures’. These sorts of grinds are just insidious, and feel incredibly disrespectful of my time.

Unfortunate that some are choosing to treat a new player like you this way. This is the big problem with WoW right now. Very unfriendly to new players while making it miserable for veteran players. It is a lose/lose situation for all players from my view.

I’m very concerned in particular with the entire “I earned it, you should too” attitude when it comes to what’s ultimately incredibly banal content.
We shouldn’t be defending content like this, let alone using it to lord ourselves over other players - as if having invested hours upon hours of our time somehow makes us superior. These systems don’t benefit anybody.

Yeah there is no prestige about grinding through a lot of these current grinds. The prestige in old WoW came from gear for the most part.
There is no prestige by doing the grind for allied races and then using it talk down to new players that just want to play the new races because it looks fun.
Makes no sense to me.

My biggest issue is the fact that the only thing you really need invest to ‘earn’ these things is time. And too much of it.
They’re not that long, but two weeks of, as I stated earlier, essentially 30 minutes of content, stretched right out, is completely unreasonable.
I don’t brag to people that I spent 8 hours working a very quiet and uneventful shift and got paid to do almost nothing. Why would I brag that I invested nothing more than my time to get a race in this game? I just feel bad, more often than not, that my friends don’t have access to them yet.

That’s exactly what an MMO should be. You are paying for the journey, not the destination.

Lots of new players run into the wall that is PF. WoW wasn’t always this punishing to veteran or new players due to excessive time gating.

100% agree! I want to play a damn Dark Iron Drawf!! I paid for the expansion. That ALONE should grant me the right to play the race I want!!
The gated rep grinds are slow, painful and stupid. I only have limited time in any given week to allot towards gaming. I’m not wasting it doing boring a$s rep grinds just so I can play the character I want to. Instead now I’m just resentful at these asinine decisions Bliz is making. I unfortunately bought a long sub so I can’t unsub. But if I could I would cause this isn’t a lick of fun in 8.3 to me!

Problem: The journey toward acquiring rep is absolutely godawful.
Solution: Provide people more, and more entertaining ways to earn rep / earn Allied Races.
