I'm creating a Horde guild to help bolster our Horde community and I need your help!

UPDATE: This project has finally launched in the form of a guild known as The Blackhand Battalion. If you want to find out more about it, please goto this thread!

Hello, Moon Guard!

I am currently in the process of creating a new guild within the Horde community. While the guild’s name, theme, co-GM position, and vision have already been locked down, my co-founder and I are seeking robust roleplayers who are capable of providing useful input, experience, and commitment towards a fresh guild on our server. Our primary goal is to aid in the rejuvenation of Horde’s RP presence, primarily within Orgrimmar’s Valley of Honor and the server at large.

If this interests you, please keep reading!

I will be the first to admit that the task of encouraging people to RP on Horde is not an easy one. Moon Guard’s Horde community is outnumbered 3 to 1 by its Alliance counterpart, and it can be frustrating to log onto your Horde character and find Orgrimmar fairly empty in comparison to Stormwind at any given hour. I’ve read that the reason for this imbalance is due in part to an alleged apathy that players have towards the Horde’s current storyline, but I find this to be a poor excuse. Garrosh also suffered an oddly timed heel turn as Sylvanas has in the lore, but our Horde community was quite vibrant back during the time of MoP due to well-established guilds such as the Kor’kron Legion which capitalized on that expansion’s story beats to great effect.

Our faction imbalance is not an insurmountable challenge.

Horde community leaders such as Flywheel, Felthier, Tendael, etc. have committed an impressive amount of dedication to Moon Guard’s Horde faction as seen by the massive success of server events such as Tournament of Ages, Symphony of Silvermoon, Flames of War, etc. It’s because of this that I’ve never once considered the typical (and malignant) suggestion of pursuing my Horde guild interests on our sister server, Wyrmrest Accord. Moon Guard is my home.

However, that still leaves two pressing questions: “What type of guild are you making?” and “How do you intend to increase the Horde’s presence?”

In response to the first question, my guild’s vision is that of a Horde military guild led by a recent character I debuted in the latest Flames of War campaign, the (main universe) Blackrock Orc, Orgaz Wyrmsplitter. For those who have interacted with him briefly, Orgaz is nothing short of a repugnant, Orcish brute who was raised on stories that glorified Blackhand’s leadership. Furthermore, he endured difficult, traumatic hardships under a tyrannical Black Dragonflight and Maim Blackhand’s destructive leadership of the MU Blackrock Clan. However, after Hellscream’s pardon, the Horde’s disastrous defeat at Dazar’alor, and Saurfang’s dangerous insurrection, the Horde’s High Command has seen an opportunity (or is simply desperate enough) to fast-track the young Blackrock to the rank of Warlord and task him with forging a new — and more importantly, loyal — military force under the Horde’s banner.

The Warlord’s mission? Disrupt the Alliance’s military efforts with extreme prejudice in order to avert the fate of a “dismantled Horde”. This isn’t a campaign driven by old hatreds, Orcish racism, or a Warchief’s delusions of grandeur — for Wyrmsplitter, it’s survival.

To the second question, my strategy to increase the Horde’s RP player base relies heavily on two things: The massive presence of Alliance military guilds such as Blades of Greymane, The Citrine Eagle, The First Regiment, etc. and the tried and proven Cross-RP addon created by Moon Guard’s very own (and very talented) Tammy/Rennae. My Horde guild is intended to be a strike force that diligently engages with Alliance RP military guilds in an attempt to foster cross-faction RP storylines. Whether you’re a small Alliance noble guild that’s carved out a small section of Stromgarde or rallying your Marine Corps in Kul Tiras, my guild would be interested in being your cross-faction rival — provided you are willing to engage in D20 PvP battles, not unlike those hosted by Flames of War. This is our faction war expansion, after all, and I believe there are many people out there who’d be interested in joining a bellicose Horde guild if it gives them the chance to encounter real player rivals through cross-faction interactions!

Speaking of Horde guilds, as Horde loyalists, we are definitely interested in cooperating with other like-minded guilds (or individuals!) who might be interested in our vision. We’ll need all the numbers we can to match some of those big ol’ Alliance military guilds in future campaigns. If you’re a Horde guild who ICly whispers mean things about our Warchief behind her back, we’d be interested in consentful interactions with you as well, provided you don’t mind being bullied like the traitors you all are! :stuck_out_tongue:

That said, it is my hope that by showing that the Horde is lively enough to engage with Alliance guilds directly, Alliance RPers who are interested in experiencing a different flavor of the faction war storyline will have that conduit available to them. I believe strongly in the “if you build it, they will come” adage, but I can’t achieve this vision alone. As such, I’m only currently interested in a small base of quality roleplayers who would be open to interacting with the server at large, before opening this guild publicly. Artistically talented individuals interested in making a handful of thematic graphics are highly welcomed as well. I believe a guild’s longevity requires a solid foundation of players that can flesh out a guild’s core concept mutually before it’s advertised publicly on the server.

For those of you who wish to know more about who I am before you’re willing to invest your time and efforts:

I was the guild master of the Alliance RP military guild, The League of Lordaeron, for approximately two years during the Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria expansions. I’ve cooperated with multiple guilds across both of Moon Guard’s factions and cooperatively led massive server events such as the multi-month long RP-PvP campaign at Theramore which hosted 400+ players in its final event. Currently, I’m an event coordinator alongside Berenal in the Flames of War community and have an active desire to see it and similar cross-faction RP projects bolstered. As such, I have extensive guild leadership, dungeon-master, and coordination experience. Furthermore, I can speak plainly in that I am willing to give anyone interested, within reason ( and 18 years or older), a fair shake. My co-founder and I are eager to cooperate with people that want to contribute heavily as founding members. If you’re a long time veteran of roleplay and a fresh start sounds appealing to you, I recommend you reach out to me!

So, that’s it! If you’ve made it this far, I appreciate you taking the time to read this. You can feel free to post any feedback you might have in this thread. I’m open to critique and suggestions!

If you wish to get in contact with me, please DM me directly at Kerdic#3886 on Discord.

Will you accept low level Horde? I’m currently leveling my Horde alt but she’s a wee one still. Also, what are your projected active times?

Just wanted to say something since I had gotten a question about it regarding the difference between Kerdic’s planned guild and some other similar guilds, like Kor’kron Legion and my currently in hiatus Varokar. There are some similarities - they’re Horde military guilds and mostly a focus on the ‘Old Horde’ or more savage or tribal races.

Kor’kron Legion = Still fighting for the redemption of their name since the events of MoP. An honorable group seeking to do what’s right and bring honor back to the idea of what the Kor’kron are. A powerful military elite strike force who have reliably crushed any of the Horde’s foes. The Kor’kron Legion also kind of represents the idea of a new glorious rebirth, rising from the ashes of former injustices to be born anew and back to its grand status and power. (Granted this was what it is when I still in it, so I could be out of date!)

Varokar Vanguard = Takes its name from Saurfang and hopes to embody his (and Thrall’s and Vol’jin’s) ideals of what a Horde should be. A military force, but also allows civilians in for protection and has its own unique cultural practices. Focused very much on saving the Horde - even from itself. In theory, loyal to the Warchief… but given Vaknosh was a Kor’kron during Garrosh’s madness, it’s heavily more focused on being loyal to the people and ideals of the Horde first and foremost. Doesn’t care as much for the War Effort, would much rather go around Kalimdor and parts of Azeroth to provide assistance and protection for local Horde populations against local problems. But will fight in the big fights and does not call the Alliance friends. Embodies the honor, dignity, and “Horde is family” ideas. (But my guild currently is not active because the on-going plotline - especially for 8.2 - sorta makes it impossible to exist within the Horde under this name without being massive targets for mass execution by Sylvanas and Dark Rangers probably.)

Kerdic’s Horde Military Guild = Basically, the tough enforcers of the Horde. Think a bit like the Kor’kron in MoP but none of the horrible racism against non-orcs, no Old God heart juice, and no genocidal tendencies. They’re brutal, tough, and fight with all their fury. They don’t defeat their enemies, they absolutely devastate them. But while they might act in ways considered questionable, they aren’t exactly dishonorable. For them, this is a fight for absolute survival for the Horde… and sometimes hard choices must be made to survive. And they’re the guys who make the hard choices and fight all out for the Horde’s survival in this war. Unlike the Varokar, which inherently questions any Warchief due to Vaknosh’s history, Kerdic’s Horde military guild would be definitively loyal to the Warchief as division risks the very existence of the Horde.

If I’m wrong about anything let me know, this is just my observations.

Great post Vaknosh! Thank you for clarifying all of this, much appreciated.

This is an excellent synopsis of the theme I’m going for! The Varokar Vanguard and Kor’kron Legion are both excellent guilds I wish to work with in the near future, and I see both as staple “Horde Military” guilds I wished to differentiate my own vision from. My vision is constructed in such a way that we will naturally run into conflict with other Horde guilds over the Horde’s future.

Whether that means we’ll all be put down like a repeat of MoP or begrudgingly convinced to switch sides if Sylvanas steps too far…? That’s to be determined.

Also, I know I’ve already reached out to many people who’ve posted in this thread, but thank you so much for your support! Our guild creation is progressing smoothly and we’ve already added another founding member into our ranks! Still looking for more!

Definitely interested in supporting the guild and rp in some way. Unsure if my character would fit, but willing to try! I’ll send you a Discord message.

As we spoke about before, this Horde guild is by no means a niche-racial guild. Its thematic focus lies heavily on the Horde and, while a Blackrock Orc might be leading it, all Horde-aligned characters will be considered for membership.

I also want to welcome our latest two founding members! We’ve got a solid team of five right now who all have extensive GM/Officership experience. All of our founding members have an opportunity for immediate officership upon our guild’s launch. However, if you’re not interested in that responsibility and would still like to add your input/be a founding member, feel free to hit me up on my Discord posted above as we continue our journey closer to our guild’s launch!

Guild is forming up nicely with a strong number of people joining and helping. We still need more people to fill out the ranks and return Horde to Moon Guard.

Our team has increased to ten people! The outreach and response thus far has been quite incredible and I’ve been heavily motivated to make my guild open to the public as soon as possible without sacrificing quality. I’m thankful to have so many individuals with a wealth of officership/GM experience alongside myself who are interested in trying to rejuvenate the Horde RP scene by actively engaging the Alliance.

Our first internal IC event is scheduled for June 20th in the Valley of Honor around 8:30 PM for those who are interested in the aesthetic that we’re pushing for. Even though we’re not quite open to the public yet, this will be our IC “founding” event.

For those interested in the current progress:

-We’ve almost finalized the guild’s ranking system and will be moving on to formulate a .enjin website in order to process future applications. Once the site is functional, we will be posting a MG forum thread and going fully public.

-I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with a few Alliance GMs already who are interested in future PvP D20 campaigns. They’re very excited at the prospect, as am I!

-Most of us are leveling our new characters/developing their character concepts before our guild’s launch, so if you’ve been hesitant about this idea thus far because of your lack of Horde alts, don’t feel intimidated! We might have some people interested in being your leveling partner in fact!

-If you are interested in the Horde Guild Expo hosted by the lovely Flywheel on June 21st, we will be making a showing there.

Hope to see you soon!

Hey, ya’ll!

Local Moon Guardian and recent transport to the Horde. Things are shaping up nicely over here, and I’m honored to be a part of the red side initiative alongside Kerdic/Orgaz and all the lovely Horde faces I can’t wait to meet.

We’ve had so many wonderful folk come to us and throw their hat in the ring, so as of now we’re not searching any more potential officers. That being said, we always welcome more founding members that want to help get our lovely little guild off the ground and make it into something great.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out and contact one of us!

Lok’tar Ogar!
