This is exactly why back when I did Arena caries in 2’s for 2K unlocks I stopped at 2K; because anything more than this people get really toxic. There was plenty of gold in 2K carries also; but I made it ultra clear on the forums back in the day that i was accepting gold in exchange and all carries were organized in public for BG players so that they could enjoy the gear / cosmetics that they wanted in BG’s without the need to try and learn the Arena meta.
The positive to my actions was that in MoP and Cata we had a massive surge in Arena participation by players who would have otherwise play Arena from the BG community. The only thing that they really needed to learn for the most part was positioning, wise CD use, and how to better set up kills depending on their partner / team comp VS.
Sorry for the long and distracted post, but just confirming that you’re right there has always been carries of sorts, and it goes on to this day in retail and way worse there because they’re just trading gold tokens and real money instead of in game gold.
And you wonder why people don’t want to come back to era lmao. What an idiotic comment. Why play the game and run with a guild and get the gear you worked for when you can work for it AND have to buy it with gold? LOL
“the bads”… lmao you’re so cringe man. Yikes. Embarrassing. Cope.
It’s called currency/tokens in retail. Bosses drop loot and tokens, so you can save tokens and buy your desired loot at vendors. However, blizz only implement this system only for the last season of an expansion. Everyone likes this system but, I think blizzard is not fond of it because it doesn’t make people run hamster wheel for their bis.
I agree a real official DKP system would be awesome, bosses drop some currency, and you can use that currency to bid on an item instead of rolling on it.
GDKP isn’t the problem, its the cheaters that use it. You can get rid of one but you can’t get rid of the other.
It’s not a big deal on Era, no. Not enough people play on individual clusters/factions for gold buying to be a huge problem and so GDKPs harm no one.
GDKP isn’t any more or less efficient than any other loot system. They’re all the same. Efficiency is tied up with raid performance and bosses dying.
GDKP is to loot distribution what parsing is for raiding. Its adding another phony layer to something to get more out of what you’re doing even though you aren’t.
Then don’t. You don’t have to gdkp. There are SR guilds running on era right now. If the depth of your raid search is /2 then sure I guess all you’ll find is gdkps, but I don’t expect anti gdkp players to even want to put in the work to join an SR guild. They’re all too busy crying about gdkps on the forums to do so.
Why raid and get rewarded no matter what when you can join a guild and carry bads just to watch them win bis loot while actively being a negative factor in the raid, while getting stuck with repair and consumable costs with no tangible gain outside of a migraine LOL. Funny how I can flip the exact statement back at you.
You should stop saying that to yourself when you wake up and look in the mirror.
Don’t worry lil bro maybe one day you can hit 60 in era and have more than 100g to your name. All you gotta do is just not be bad. Good luck.
Were you expecting something else when you’re in the business of selling raid carries for game gold and use a system designed to pay you game gold by charging other players game gold for roster spots and gear drops?
For anyone in this thread who is not schizophrenic / abusing benzos, this is like the 4th time that I am explaining that I am both suggesting and in favor of the idea of a non-tradable DKP system. I’m the only one who brought it up in this thread.
And this is the umpteenth time that this xanny mom is telling me that I am not in favor my own idea.
If you become a greed-consumed RMTer, your brain will end up cooked from inside out just like hers.
Yes, it provides the raid a system that abstracts reward beyond the items that are dropped.
Thus, players can bring toons that do not need any items and feel equally rewarded for their time.
It feels awesome when a gressil, thc, kiss drops, even if I don’t want any of them - because I know it directly increases the reward my toon will get from that raid.
It’s not a reward though. It’s payment for services rendered. You’re selling stuff and getting paid.
If you use that time to sell raid carries for game currency I imagine its important to get enough gold to be content with doing your job.
Hence my comparison to parsing. Its another tacked on player created mini game to make raiding more exciting except this time the hook is gold. Its doesn’t add anything to raiding except mileage. The gold you add to your totals came out of someone else’s pockets so the balance sheet is even - nothing lost or gained.
Players who like easy money sell to players who like easy loot - it aint much deeper than that.
Anyway, I was responding to the OP about GDKPs efficiency in distributing loot and pointing out that its the exact same as any other loot system as far as that goes. When you’re talking efficiency and raiding what matters is bosses dying, not how loot is handled.
Since GDKPs have a way to incentivize (reward / pay) carries, more bosses dies, more raids can be created, less item drama because carries want gold not items, etc.
I think there are real advantages to the system, or else I would not spend my time supporting the system on the forums
Yeah you dont get to pay yourself for doing a raid in a voluntary transactional environment with a system designed to pay you at someone elses expense with the world gold literally in the title and then make it sound like it has the same motivations as any other raid.
On the topic of loot distribution it has no advantages. It does it differently, not better. Loot systems are opinions on how to distribute loot. GDKP is of the opinion that you don’t have to earn your gear if you got enough gold to bid on it.
Xdrain lumped it right there on par with gear drops.
But if you want to go there I guess I must admit in game sales transactions paid for by game currency can be really rewarding if you charge a lot of coin in making that gear easier for them.
Quit gaslighting people who just have an opinion on how a classic game should feel. It’s not in the spirit of vanilla. Yikes.
Also funny how you say “put in the work”… when GDKP is literally there for whales, swipers, or botters to be able to run raids as buyers in quest greens and buy their way to bis. Again yikes. What an embarrassing take.
And some more smug condescension. I have an AQ geared 60 with 7k gold. I don’t need any of it. It’s about how the game is played and who even plays it anymore. All of my friends quit because it’s riddled with degen raiding methods. Maybe you should get good and stop needing to buy your gear.
