Is there a point you’re trying to make? I don’t see one. First GDKP is not popular, then it is too popular and must be stopped?
Anyone who is so adamantly defending GDKP’s is making RMT themselves. 100%. I was in the largest GDKP discord for Vanilla Classic. When I tell you that every single raid leader was selling gold for IRL money, I will tell you that EVERY raid leader was selling gold for IRL money.
There is 0 benefits for the community. None. DKP’s have existed for over 25 years. Im not saying they are good, but they exist. And anyone who has been a part of a corrupt DKP system can agree that a corrupt DKP system is the EXACT same thing as every GDKP. Because EVERY GDKP has gold buyers and sellers in it.
GDKP’s are the SOLE reason raid consumes prices are sky high. Dont trust me…? Go look at any HC server auction house. A single flask can run you nearly 1,000g. Ive played WoW since the BETA phase in July 2004. I dont know eveything. But I do know that having 1,000g for ANY reason after you got your epic mount was like maybe a handful of people per server. You didnt walk around with 100,000g like people are these days. There may of been a couple people per server who EVER saw gold amounts that high (or higher) before TBC release. Anyone who says otherwise is flat out lying.
GDKP’s have no value for the game at all.
GDKP’s have no redeeming qualities at all.
GDKP’s are the SOLE reason your consumes to do anything are 100x more expensive than they should be.
GDKP’s are the SOLE reason for RMT in any Classic variation of the game.
GDKP’s are no different than any game with a P2W marketplace.
GDKP’s are the only loot system in which the norm is to bring naked characters who have 100’s of thousands of gold to a raid to buy all of the loot.
GDKP’s are just not good for the game, or any MMO.
I had to buy several character transfers when classic TBC was launched in order to get off of a server that was absolutely infested with GDKP’s. It costed nearly 700g a night to raid as a tank in Classic Vanilla. So myself, and 22 other guild members transferred off Sulfuras to a med pop server that had 1/50th the GDKP’s just so we all could afford to buy raid materials in game.
So yes, GDKP’s are awful.

What if someone is afk 90% of the raid and sr’s similar loot to you while you carry the run and then you lose the roll to them? Atleast in a GDKP if i lose loot to a RMTer I get paid at the end. In a ms>os or SR run i lose/lose and the run will likely be more scuffed

People catch bans for recieving RMT gold in GDKP payouts, that’s the risk.
A random made up hypothetical about some AFK person in a raid (who would probably be kicked pretty quick) or possibly getting your account actioned for receiving illicit gold?
Personally I’d just kick the AFK.

If it isn’t clear by now (1100 posts in) trolling me is not going to work. Come with some debate skills or all you are doing is bumping my thread to the top.
And why are there so many bots? Could it be because everyone in raids like yours need to keep “topped up” on gold? Bots sole purpose is to make gold to sell. There is no other reason.
So if you remove the sole area (GDKP’s) where this gold is being used… guess what you get a lot less of BOT’s. It is literally simple deduction. Take away the reason people buy gold… guess what they stop doing? Buying gold. Guess what people who use bots to sell gold do? Stop botting because they are not making money.
There is literally 0 reasons to have 100’s of thousands of gold in any version of Classic wow (HC, SoD, Vanilla, WoTLK etc). There are no mounts to buy on the AH like retail. There are no gold sinks like retail. There are only raid consumes, and AH gear.
Removing GDKP’s fixes a lot of the major issues with Classic. Watch. My guess is that it hurt your pocket too much and you are here on the WoW forums of all places spam posting about GDKP’s.
