If you were in charge of WoW what changes would you make?

For me, I would clean house completely and bring in as many as of the old devs as I could. I dont care how much money they ask for, it would bring them all in and then wed have a massive meeting to figure what we need to do to fix WoW and bring it back to it’s glory days i.e. BC, wotlk, MOP. I’d imagine it would be a lot of work but in the end i feel it would be worth it.

I’d make geniunely difficult content with exclusive and cool cosmetic rewards. Get rid of the explore new zone - unlock dailies cycle and put a serious emphasis on class balance/design > external systems.

The first change I would make would be to stop allowing my teams to make the same mistakes over and over again. Trying things and failing is totally fine, but if you’ve had to admit your methodology is faulty and make changes, you should never make those same mistakes in the future, and this is something that Blizz just does over and over.

Hello, we recently saw your application and are looking to hire you for $8 an hour + a free monthly wow sub.

Your duties will consist of spilling coffee on the servers.

Also your hair MUST be blue or red. No exceptions.

A recent example is Ian acknowledged that forcing people to do rep grinds and the such on alts is bad and not fun. Yet in Zerith you still need to grind out the rep on alts to upgrade your conduits, could easily just buy them for alts after your main reaches the right rep level.

Thank you and I accept this generous offer. My hair will be purple by Friday.

But a small and innocent oversight. Kamron please escort Hitchlap off the premises.

Low key nerf Rogue stealth so they can be seen again. Then put combo points back on targets.

Remove Ion from ever being a figurehead or mouthpiece for the organization would be a start. He’s horrible.

Make professions viable again similar to WOTLK.

Make PvP have two sets similar to WoD. Give them minor PvP centric set bonuses.

Bring back old talent systems.

Lower the monthly fee to commensurate with the frequency of content being produced.

Hire outside consultants to evaluate the story line and future plots. As the writing is horrendous.

Move to a biweekly tuning strategy rather than a “wait and see” model that has been proven not to be effective.

Make all classes (excluding tanks) viable in arena in order to curb or eliminate FOTM rerolling.

Make all reps, all grinds and all unlocks account wide moving forward.

This is pretty important I think. There was such a longer period in season 1 where my sub kept renewing but there was nothing to do in the game.

I really want classes to be THE MAIN THING THEY FOCUS ON

the best dungeon/raid or whatever can be produced but it will feel garbage if the lens you see it through isn’t designed with creativity
current enhancement sham in m+ is 10/10 fun
current ele sham in m+ is 1/10 fun

most elemental talents are dead and that goes for alot of specs

same goes for arena where most talents are useless

I’d make the game free to play, put a bunch of cosmetic junk in the shop to make up for the revenue loss. Make ‘rated solo queue’ a 6v6 RBG, ban tanks from arena, give all tanking classes equal abilities to be useful as FCs, hire DnD writers to make the game more of a medieval fantasy and less of a weird Sci-Fi crossover game again, hire a whole team of people who do nothing but design gear appearances, get rid of Classic game versions to split the population even less. I would also create a sherpa portal/program where veteran players get in-game incentives to teach raids fights to make the game more inclusive.

I duno, probably more specific, in-game things too, but my major concern is how this game feels like there’s 50 people online at a time.

Honestly the things I would fix/improve would be :

  • Class design being the central focus of an expansion after the main content and following it up with frequent balancing/tuning patches
  • Making borrowed power less influential on class gameplay
  • Re-structuring the reward system for PvP & PvE
  • Bring PvP exclusive tier sets back
  • Putting more emphasis on professions in general
  • PvP tokens (Marks of Honor) having more value than it currently does while also being a side currency that is obtainable in end game PvP.
  • Removal of PvP gear upgrades in terms of power level & have aesthetic upgrades (illusions, elite variances of gear, cosmetics etc…) tied to rating only
  • Not having PvE conflate with PvP in any way to create any sort of power gap or disparity
  • New expansion & patch introduced zones should have enjoyable and engrossing PvP activities worth partaking in outside of WPvP with a solid reward framework tied to it
  • Remove weekly RNG based rewards (such as boxes, vaults, etc…) and keep it tied to confirmed rewards through vendors strictly
  • Add more incentives to do casual activities like dungeon finder, raid finder, BGs etc…
  • Maybe unpopular opinion, but mythic dungeons can be more interactive and less boring if they added optional bosses that have diverse loot table (rare mounts, cosmetics, illusions, interesting toys, battlepets, etc…)

this 1 is sketchy, they did that this xpac and now we all have to “hit escape and go to shop” for our legendaries

bgs sure, dungeon finder/raidfinder ehhhhh
dunno how they can make bgs more wanted outside of upgrading like we do now

be sick if they redid almost all the affixes, primarily by getting rid of tyrannical/fortified so it can be a bit more creative

Yeah its quite weird now they decided to go with it this xpac. I really liked how you were able to obtain legendaries in MoP through a quest chain and other activities (even though it took a while). I would like to see them go back to that sort of process in terms of legendary acquisition - personally found it to be more fun.

Basically having better and more rewards I’d like to think. Perhaps even including some new bgs and weekly PvP quests that have compelling rewards (temporary titles, appearance changing buffs, and reward boxes with cool weapon/gear mogs) based on both completions and wins.

Remember when we use to see 3-5% buffs/nerfs instead of 30-50%?

Also, I’d like to see old talent trees back and elaborated on to make it feel more like an rpg… and better in house testing instead of pushing the beta product on the players and have them test for free.

Another on my wish list would be animations overhauled from bosses to player abilities plus a major update on the user interface and then ban addons. This way pve (and now pvp) isn’t just a competition of mechanics vs addons honking at you to react.

I think all the borrowed power systems exist because the devs think the players would get too bored if they weren’t occupied doing chores. The world building also sucks now and handy notes removes all the interesting treasures that use to be fun.

The game has become too 3rd party monetized it seems.

I would only change one thing. Any type of CC would be on the same DR. Silence, interrupts, fear, roots, MC, blind, stun, sap, etc etc…think of any possible thing that can cc you, all within the same DR. No more “stun, stun, stun” and then start all over again with a fear and then something else just because they are not on the same DR.

Number 1 change.
