Sure, why not! Youre happy playing the game in and for itself. Thats awesome. But you arent in touch with the other 99% of players who the game has always been designed around.
The expansion isn’t perfect, but it’s the best foundation/launch we’ve had since WOD imo. For me personally, patches are usually where the best content is anyway and where Blizzard gets a chance to respond actively to the negative feedback. I think by all means we should give them criticism for things that don’t work to ensure quality control. I just can’t understand the perspective of Shadowlands being thought of as a poor launch. To me it’s so clearly superior to Legion and BFA launches. But I also know I have some unpopular opinions when it comes to WOW too.
Farming legendary recipes.
Maw and Torghast upgrades.
Doing multiples runs of Torghast, maybe making groups and doing 4-8 as groups of 5 instead of just once at 8.
Leveling professions.
Collecting mounts. There are tons, and I’m having a blast grouping up with people killing the rares everyday. Meeting new people as it seems the same people are in the same groups everyday haha. There’s no way I could do that, raid, and do mythic plus, but my wife does mythic raiding and mythic plus. I don’t know how she keeps up with it with all the Covenant, Torghast, and Maw stuff too!
Yup. I say SL is great. Then criticized that I am not hardcore like them (which I might be in a few months), but they are hardcore…but also hate this game? Does that make sense?
Who plays a game a lot at high levels of challenge and dont enjoy it?
Nazjatar, Mechagon, Argus, Broken Shore and the Barrens experiment would all suggest otherwise.
I’d personally also add Pointless Isle to the list of low-effort crap patch content, but for some inexplicable reason people seemed to like that one.
There’s a wholllllllle bunch of casual players discovering around now that the avenues of character progression they’ve had for the past four years are gone. It’s the least casual-friendly expansion since Cataclysm.
As someone who currently doesn’t have the time or inclination to queue for LFG/R content and doesn’t have a guild for M+ (not that there’s any loot to be had anyway!) it’s a strange feeling to think “I’m done, there’s no reason to log in” five weeks into an expansion.
What for? Aside from the usual “Master of All” achieve I don’t see any point to any of them.
You just listed some of my favorite stuff. Broken Shore though, yea, that place did suck. But Mechagon, Naz, Argus, and Timeless? Best parts of the expansions they were in imo. And I’m super casual. I used to be in a Cutting Edge guild, but I’m kicking it now collecting mounts, making some gold, just taking it easy. I’m having a good time. The last time I dreaded logging in was BFA’s launch into 8.1 so I unsubbed. Haven’t even considered unsubbing since 8.2.
Dont even get me started on this! The maw should have been called uroboros since the rewards specifically feed into itself. The maw right now is broken. Objectively its broken. The rewards are self contained (well, i mean they feed into torghast which in turn feeds back into the maw - the mount to make your maw quests faster). This is bad design. I am willing to give them all kinds of benefit of the doubt since its obviously unfinished. But right now, and unless you’re CE and need that 2% extra boost from your sockets), the maw rewards make the maw and torghast easier. Torghast rewards let you climb the tower easier (which doesnt reward you anything but more soul ash for a bis lego you likely already have by this point (and a mount, to make the maw less annoying).
Ive got all my profs maxed. I want to tell you. It felt underwhelming.
Look, i dont want to pee on your leg and tell you its raining. But you’re not really explaining how this expansion really improves on former expansions. You also arent really giving any arguments why people SHOULD feel rewarded or enjoy this expansion. Your best arguments thus far are ‘i play the game for the fun of it’ and thats not really a ringing endorsement.
