Agreed. People need to stop being so anal about every little thing like optimal play.
Then please just give me one good reason why changing soulbinds inside of the covenant system which we chose, should be locked behind a 1 week cooldown? How isn’t this the same as the changes made to Azerite reforging, where the devs argued that a weekly cooldown would hurt people who wish to change specs?
And the wheels on the bus go round and round.
I love the necrolord shaman ability, lava surge is my favorite mechanic and spreading that hot love to multiple targets sounds really fun.
Too bad I absolutely hate the ‘death knight’ aesthetic, it is the only covenant I have zero interest in. It’s not just about balance, casuals worried about minmaxing, etc. It’s having to choose flavor vs gameplay, which is a huge feels bad. Furthermore, at least in the case of shaman, none of the abilities even seem like they belong to any particular convenant anyway. You could easily swap all of them around and they’d make just as much sense.
What if I am genuinely both? What if I believe what is bad for the 1% is more often than not literally good for the rest of the game? I do believe this.
The covenant system is NOT healthy one bit. It hurts most of the playerbase and it sucks.
It is a major choice as well. Also pick your spec and stick with it. I think all specs should be leveled separately and a much slower pace. Yes picking a spec should be a major choice as well.

So we should be able to do anything and everything in WoW? It works with some games but there is no real time investment in your character in WoW save the grinds they sometimes make us work towards which I dislike when it comes to things like the cloak and our neck in BfA.
You should be able to switch or at least have different picks for off-specs. It sucks that were forced to pick one soulbind/one covenant for M+/pvp/raiding and 2 of them will suffer for this greedy decision to punish multi-spec players. I can’t do my best damage for guilds raiding and M+ in my own off time now and be the best to either. Or tank well for that matter if I do.

at some point it’ll be meta or trash due to nerfs/buffs
Well I can’t argue with that, lol

The soulbinds aren’t a week lockout. Only the conduits. Each spec has their spec specific conduits changed to the correct spec AND has their conduit path saved the last time the spec was active.
You can still play any spec you want with whatever conduit path you were on. It’s not that big of a deal.

You might be forced to pick the meta-slave choice, but that’s a player issue not a game one.
Eh that little extra is not a big deal unless you are going for world’s first or mythic races. I think everyone is blowing it way out of proportion.
Its a big deal when trying to time M+, every bit counts.
I disagree, then again I hate the Mythic + system and feel it detracts from the game.
Can’t disagree with facts tho. If the dungeon is 30mins to time it, and your aiming for the mount achievement and doing a +15…every bit of DPS counts, thats not an opinion…thats fact. Food, potions, flasks, ect all factor in as well as best covenant/soulbind now.
I honestly think people are making way too much out of the covenant system.
Like sure, there will be some that are better in terms of abilties or gear but unless you are in a sponsored world first guild or one of those ubermch that push +25 then it’s not going to be make or break for you.
Why? Because your class and spec are still going to be the primary tools that you use to do your job whether your an arms warrior, a brewmaster monk, or a discipline priest.
So relax. Make your choice and run with it, whether that’s for aesthetics or lore or abilities go ahead and enjoy it.

And what if I have more fun playing a class with one ability, whereas I’m more interested in the story of a different covenant?
That’s a you problem.
I thank N’zoth every day that you aren’t a developer for this game
