People didn’t re-spec in Classic every boss nor did they for every BG queue. It will be fine. So many over dramatic people on these boards.
My belief is that players have become too spoiled over the past few years and we need a return to meaningful choices that have consequences.
This isn’t in regards to solely WoW but RPGs as a whole.
In all my recollection of WoW this has never been the case. What return are we doing? Do you have examples?
I said this wasn’t solely in regards to WOW
But we’re talking about WoW. So give me examples of this “return to meaningful choice” you mentioned that was once in WoW.
I believe in you. Just focus and scroll by them. You can do it!
Alliance Paladin or Horde Shaman
And that did cause problems in the faction balance. Raid progression was heavenly skewed towards one side. There’s a reason paladins and shaman were eventually added to the other factions.
Even priest once had racial signature abilities. Know what that happened? If you raided alliance back in vanilla you dward was the way to go for that fear ward, sorry humans. And on the horde side troll priest were interfere to undead. Wanted a spot in the raid? re-roll or pay that race swap because there are plenty of undead priest looking for a spot.
Those who wanted take part in high end raiding went to the path of least resistance.
Edit: now I wouldn’t suggest using classic as the best example for balance. and it isn’t to say that no troll priest ever made it to raid. It’s when presented two application the undead was more likely to get the spot just being undead.
Ever notice when players start demanding balance the game becomes less and less engaging?
Horde had Windfury. Alliance had Dwarf Priest Racial. It was fine until the neckbeards started getting jealous and Blizzard began fleecing all the cool interesting things out of the game for the next fifteen years.
Thanks balance.
They do that anyway, why make everyone else miserable for the sake of meta slaves?
You don’t have to be miserable. Just stick to one Covenant of your choice.
This was my thought as well. Classes should always be more like rock, paper, scissors. No one class or spec should be able to do everything, which makes them more unique.
My only fear is Blizzard has a bad habit of caving to whiners.
We’re not slaves. All this name calling to fit a narrative.
I enjoy optimizing my class. Pushing harder content. It’s not a burden. It’s a hobby. This isn’t unique to warcraft, or MMOs. You seem to be more concerned with making my life worse than your own enjoyment. I don’t care if you don’t want to step foot in a mythic raid or push that M+25 key.
I just don’t understand why you feel a need to ruin my enjoyment of the game?
So why can’t you do that without changing the game? Do not ask the game to adapt to you, but adapt to the game?
You’re literally asking Blizzard to edit their own game so you can play with zero consequences.
I really wish those posting on alts had some achievements to display to back the min/max mentality. I don’t understand the intense desire for it when there’s no hard content being done.
The single worse thing that Blizzard ever did was listen to the complainers(waah! I can’t beat a rogue!) and try to balance the classes in WOW. A few nip and tucks to classic was all that was needed. Not this homogenized mess we have now where so many specs and classes share the same abilities. Thus the perfect example of how “it doesn’t affect you” ended up effecting everyone by screwing up the game.
It has nothing to do with min/maxing.
It’s this perverse notion that Blizzard can achieve perfect balance between everything through everyone’s eyes, and somehow making the game even more convenient will solve the problem.
Adapting is exactly what we’re going to do. Personally I only play healer. So what I’ll do is crunch the numbers to figure out which ability is best for the raid and go that covenant. Done.
These so-called “elitist” have always learned to adapt. For the past few expansion we’ve figured out how to progress. Problem is, that pug world suffers, casuals suffer. And we also care about their experience just as much ours.
What consequences do you think covenants will have ingame? Narrativly your choice of covenant is less impactful than your class order hall.
No in game reason for why you stop talking to the others are ever given. You just stop. Yet you continue to assist them?
The most impactful part of covenants is player power. Not lore.
Right now you can look into what the stories actually are. People are playing the expansion as we speak.
Let it suffer. That’s why there are guilds in this MMORPG. Pugs should not be the driving vehicle of content in this game.
You answered your own question.
So basically you’re saying we’re wrong for liking the system, and you are right? Idk why I thought it would be different than the other 10+ threads on this subject. Bottom line is, stop playing. It sucks to hear that yes, but if you hate playing on blizzards treadmill then get off…simple as that.
Honestly, no answer would have satisfied them except for “I was wrong you should be able to switch at any time”. Plus they already said they aren’t changing it, so I’ll never quite understand why people keep fighting it and hoping they can redo the entire core system of the expansion in less than 7 weeks.
