Those quests are horrible. I cant stand them.
Go to this guy to get one line of text, go to this other guy on another continent for another line x 200. You spend more time on load screens than doing the quests.

Meh, when I was doing it I had a keyboard macro do it for me.
Le sighâŚ
Imagine being in charge of the story, crafting this elaborate over arching grand tale, and then being like âOh, you know what we really need? To force the player to collect 75 mushrooms and beat up 50 whomp rats before the next story eventâ.
Ugh.
Iâve heard theyâve scaled this type of thing down from ARR, but when I played this was the worst. You were at a âlevel capâ after beating the launch raid and before you could move onto the next expansion you had to do a ton of fetch quests and collect boar flanks and what-not to move the story along. Just the worst. Absolutely terrible.
Some people like boar flanks.
Just the fact that you have to make a macro to be efficient shows it is more intricate than WoWâs, though. It is actually helpful to know math during the crafting process, to see which action is going to have the highest success rate.
This was the funniest thing I read today.
Thank you for that, even if most everything in your post is wrong.
Yoshida still wonât return your calls.
I would hope not, would be a damn expensive call lol.
Then you should know that you can get help from your fellow players, which again renders your entire complaint about âneeding to omnicraftâ inert. I only have Armorsmith leveled and I rarely buy materials from the market. I get everything else that I need from my FC mates or from some of the crafters that Iâve made connections with.
Yeah, âkernels of truthâ is not something that you should be proud of. Thatâs like wearing a Fox News or MSNBC t-shirt.
Everyone just uses the macro generator for crafting. itâs not that deep, just more relevant than WoWs crafting.
They already have Lalafell xd
If you use a macro, thatâs on you being lazy, in my opinion. No offense.
Yeah, but once you get the gear everything in the game is so choreographed that you can literally setup macros to get HQ items every time. It is absolutely more engaging if your not doing that. But once you make a macro, its pretty much exactly like wows, it just takes longer.
They are precious, sure, but sorry. They are way too tall!
Imagine playing a game where turning into a moth and collecting anima cones 4 times a week for 8 months is endgame content and complaining about a few story driven fetch quests.
But yeah, most of this was removed. The old design philosophy was âa quest should take 9 minutes of active playâ with X quests per area to take Y amount of time. Thatâs no longer the case.
Lazy like pressing the 1 key three times, then two, then 1 three times, then threeâŚ
Just automate like everyone else
Imagine thinking WQs were endgame.
Honestly I just like the fact that you actually sit down with your gear and have to go through a mini-game to craft things.
WoW offers boosts. WoWâs boost to the top is $60. I believe FFXIVâs complete boost is about that, with a class and the story.
You gotta understand. People play FFXIV FOR the story, not to avoid it. I used to play WoW FOR the story, not to avoid it. Leveling is great content in a RPG for A LOT of people.
I mean, whatâs your point here? You can pay to skip the story in both games. The only difference is that thereâs actual meaningful content to do before end game in FFXIV. Should I imagine WoW was a good-feeling leveling experience again? I mean, I donât have to, Iâm playing the classic games.
If WoW Shadowlands did leveling half as good as FFXIV does Iâd be leveling in WoW.
If you think the âfun partâ of a MMORPG is just running the same few dungeons and one raid over and over again or doing the same few PVP maps that havenât been updated in forever, then I suppose youâre not really playing it for the RPG. Yeah, FFXIV is a terrible game in that regard, because itâs not trying to be a ladder-based dungeon crawler.
But Iâve never played these games for that stuff. I wish WoW cared about the stuff you dislike.
