Bobby is likely taking his golden parachute with the deal closure and leaving. Since it’ll give him $500 million.
I wish, there was VERY recent articles stating he’s going to stay. Unless Microsoft decides to kick him off said plane with parachute, it is after we hear about the acquisition.
Not gonna lie, if they build player housing “my” way (which I’m not typing out again but it is very involved), basically an account wide flex, I’d be willing to give up an entire expansion for it.
My version of player housing is evergreen content taken to the upmost extremes.
Which articles?
Yes, his departure is anticipated after closure.
Just look up “Bobby Kotick” and the news. Its all over google right now. Assuming that w/e algorithim Google has going on your end shows you what it wants to show you based on the key words. lol
I didnt play FF14 long enough to know, but ESO housing is fantastic. I dont expect this game to touch it. But the free hearth to any house you own alone is enough to want them…especially if theyre all over the game map.
I assume that would never happen. They’ll toss in a few instanced houses like the garrison from an unused door in orgrimmar and stormwind.
And for a long while, thatll be enough to stop the complaints about it and even drag in a lot more players If they set it up properly.
Its like the new dragon mount system.
Its not just a flying mount. All those mods you can farm for make it 100X better than some mount you get that you’ll get bored with after a few weeks.
if housing as a ton of crap you can farm for it, especially being able to put mounted boss heads on the walls, it WILL get used by far more players than some in here claim and want to believe.
add in chests you can find, or make with a profession, for more storage and Id bet $1000 that over 90% of the player base would get involved to some degree or another.
I searched and it says the same as before. That he’s willing to stay around as long as needed during the transition. Which is common during mergers. It’s for the transition period. Phil Spencer will be the new CEO.
I’d happily sacrifice a new expansion feature and/or a patch zone for a housing system. But only if that housing system has stuff to do that isn’t power-based.
This game sorely needs a new collection system.
I don’t see how we’d lose a raid over housing though. It’s not like encounter designers would be working on it.
Well, crossing fingers at this point. Sooner he’s gone, the better. I’m just not liking the “Sticking around” part because that means still possibility of him remaining on his golden toilet than be on the toe end of the boot.
Bobby Kotick said, “I’ve committed to Microsoft for as long or as little as they need me for the integration.”
That said, Kotick is on contract until April 2024, which means he will likely remain during the integration process.
Like I said, sooner, the better. #*($ can change at any given moment if they feel like he’s ‘better’ at the position. I hate to sound like the worst can happen but…I’ve seen enough that were the case, I just don’t trust Bobby and his statements at face value.
He also states that he’s gonna follow what shareholders want, so they could kick him to the curb immediately.
When asked why he was willing to leave, Kotick replied, “I work for our shareholders…they voted 98 percent for this transaction. My responsibility is to ensure that the shareholders get the best return for their capital that they can and that’s what I’ve done for 32 years.”
Still something I don’t want to believe until the moment he’s actually out. Never celebrate until the very second it in fact happens, not when we can ‘supposedly’ see it coming at this point, as hopeful as it may seem.
He will for the severence because it’s guaranteed. While company performance is not. There’s also been word for years that he wants to get out of gaming. Plus it likely won’t even be his choice. Because the board won’t want two CEOs, the company won’t want to pay two of them and shareholders hold the real power.
Again, 90% of the convos I’ve seen here and off here people ie players did abandon them.
It’s not always the company players have as well time and time again hence being bored with it and running off to what’s shiney and new til they get bored of that as well.
At the end of the day it’s a 50/50 players and the company.
And I’ve seen several game add housing and guess what happned, people bum rushed it,got bored and never went back.
Thats because it revolves around doing raid. Which is good.
I’d love to skip a raid and/or Mythic+ season (or three) if it meant player housing.
I’m sure everyone will agree.
What a waste
People to this day seriously believe we would lose a raid for player housing. That is absolutely astounding they honestly think those departments Would be in charge of the same thing.
