Like I said in that thread, I think if you put in Tol Dagor for something like King’s Rest, it would be worse. But that’s just about the only thing you can do to make it worse.

We pretty much already have player housing with the garrison on Draenor. It’s got it’s own hearth and everything, they just need to update the crafting buildings, which should be simple for Blizzard.

That would be acceptable to me. I personally dont care either way for this game if it has more housing or not.

They won’t do that, though, because the player housing lobby did their “REEEEEEEEEEEEE GARRISONS AREN’T EVEN HOUSING REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE” tantrum (which continues to this day).

That’s the biggest tragedy of the whole damn story: the people who most wanted player housing soiled their own nest, on this one, by making certain Blizzard will never touch the game’s player housing ever again.

I honestly don’t care whether WoW gets a new housing system or not at this point and I don’t think it is worth arguing, WoW’s current population just doesn’t want anything that not Raids or Mythic and that’s not going to change. And I don’t think Housing should come at the expense of Raids or Mythic.

I was in Pax Imperium, the mega-guild that built SWG’s first player-made city when the game launched, I know all about SWG’s housing. It dropped off like a stone after the first month.

I doubt blizzard is ever going to be stupid enough to directly let the playerbase as a whole believe that they’re important enough to dictate future features.

In a way, we have. When they announced that flying was not going to be implemented in the WoD expansion, the player-base let them know with their feet and wallets that this was unacceptable.

The bottom line is a very effective way to change the game’s development plans…however, that didn’t stop them from churlishly punishing us for daring to flex out consumer might by introducing the tedious Pathfinder scheme.

So even when we do get what we want, they’ll find a way to make us pay. In the case of player housing, they have rather brattishly said “Well, that’ll cost you a raid tier”…and it very well shouldn’t, because it is clearly a way to retain the more casual players, and assure more income.

Unfortunately I think the failure and unpopularity of garrisons killed off (or at least delayed indefinitely) any plan of player housing.

you assume you cant have furniture as bonus loot. doesnt remove your armor/ weapon loot chances.

i built a rats nest in an under ground bunker in Wild Star.

Minecraft i have played it to make bases in the side of a mountain or at the edge of water. and tunneling around. but granted i havent played in a while because sleep work and wow take up all the free time. and sleep is already getting shorted.

player housing does not need to detract from your gameplay any more than pet battles do now. if you dont like it, ignore it or make tons of extra gold selling the furniture bonus loot on the AH.

There’s the problem. Blizzard pays their employees abyssmal wages, and their employee turnover is very high as a result. They also very frequently take employees off one project and throw them at another, even for entirely different games. Current Blizzard doesn’t want to spend more on employees, so they’d never hire an additional team to focus just on this one feature. And even if they did, it wouldn’t be long before they were given another assignment, or moved on to another job thus forcing Blizz to replace them, meaning it’d be impossible to keep an experienced staff working on this feature and design philosophy would change frequently.

Until Blizzard starts treating their staff properly, of course a feature this big will cost a raid tier. Because Blizzard refuses to properly manage and pay their staff, and so any new feature they make they have to drag staff in from somewhere else temporarily.
