If we could just get 1 PvP server

Lowbies/noobs can stay on the servers they are already on. I swear this has been said a million times. People who aren’t afraid to die in world pvp can join. Everyone else can stay where they are including you

No. You shouldn’t make a server where the core appeal is that you can grief and screw over and harass other players.

You are insane.

I’m so sick of WoW players asking for garbage content and using the excuse “oh well it’s optional”. They live in a fantasy world where players never try something, have an awful experience, and quit the game.

For sure, the game should be played the way you think. Yeah you’re right, since you know what’s best for the game

I know enough to not encourage griefing…

Common sense.

You’d have more of a leg to stand on if the servers didn’t completely implode the first time.

The forced balancing of the server is a disaster waiting to happen.

Nobody in this thread is encouraging that

Not reading the thread. Just gonna assume the OP wants to gank helpless victims instead of fighting people who at least opted in for the potential ganking. AKA he wants non consenting victims vs consent.

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not

You’re missing a lot: If we could just get 1 PvP server - #577 by Aceheart-moon-guard

Ya’ll don’t understand, I don’t mind being ganked. It’s part of the thrill.

All players should be present on one World of Warcraft, no sharding nonsense or level distinctions.

Yep. Just let us play. No extra rules. If you cry about dying, go play on a normal server.

cant believe this talk is still going on. more importantly its still full of people saying you cant play your way, because other people had a bad time.

Mostly trying to keep it going so if blizz ever checks these forums (probably rare) they might see this.

I mean maybe but this has would have to go through some tweaks as just the top of my head I can see some issues with this one the pve side of things. Such as the moment you ding and you’re outside of your friends bracket to see each other for one.

That isn’t the main appeal, at all. I have no doubt that there are some people who do enjoy that on pvp servers I wont argue that but you have a incredibly skewed view of pvp servers and it isn’t helping the conversation. Espeically when the request isn’t for a return to pvp servers but an option to have one.

it isn’t an excuse it is the truth of it.

I’m starting to think that WoW players just hate options.

They sure do and they enjoy over exaggerating issues. You can place a quick little warning before joining the server for new players. However if they’re leaving after being ganked on an optional server, one out of all of the many, many other servers, they were looking for a reason not to play.

This isn’t to say that I want people to be discouraged to leave but a warning would be enough to educate expectations.

Pvp happening on a pvp server wasn’t griefing. Blizzard stated so multiple times when the servers were still a thing on retail. Targeted consistent camping over a rather long time was when blizzard would step in… some times. Mostly focused on server/zone/game interruption rarely pvp battles happening.

Imbalances are inevitable. And once a server becomes imbalanced, it will only get worse until it is unplayable by the minority faction, and you no longer see them. But at least you can brag about how brave you are to be on a single faction “PvP server”, where there is zero likelihood of running into an enemy player.

Blizzard’s decision to go with world questing that put levelers doing the same content as max level players, and later level scaling that put low level players and higher levels doing the same content at the same time made leveling on PvP servers impossible for the minority faction. The faction balance was already unrecoverable.

PvP servers only work with regular resets, or be sustainable with design parameters like faction queue times, neither of which Blizzard should be willing to sink development dollars into.

I was on PvP servers in wod. That’s exactly how it worked. Unless they belonged to a PvP guild, there was nothing a leveler could do. We never went out alone.

You hate the options that players get from warmode. You want a server where no options exist. What am I missing?

There was a warning when you rolled back in the day, that didn’t actually explain that you were going to be hunted down, ganked, and camped by max level players who were trying to eradicate your faction. Stop pretending, that’s how it worked.

For many years we heard complaints that players who had chosen a PvP server more than a decade earlier because their friends were on it, and now their faction was unplayable knew this was going to happen and should be forced to pay hundreds of dollars to switch servers because they had changed their minds about being your perpetual victims. Which you and your ilk told us they had agreed to and had no right to stop giving you free kills.

It is the same. Sadly i cant play with my guild in sod anymore cause they are on pvp server.

That’s the point for them; they can hold player groups and character progression hostage on their ‘totally-not-toxic’ jail of a server and either force PvErs into the mix or break up player groups because they also don’t want CRZ functions on their super-special server.

They want captivity and division.

I think it is funny, because some of my more memorable moments of playing on a PvP server are when me and the Alliance didn’t fight - being out in the world, facing a threat, not knowing if the other guy would strike when you are weakest - but you help each other, and walk away with out fighting.

I guess War Mode is like that, but it isn’t really the same.

I can see the allure, it was definitely a vibe. But its time may have passed. The population is thinning out as it is, segmenting Retail does not seem like the way to go.

And it’s not like you can just see someone out in the world and go ‘EEK POSSIBLE PVP INTERACTION’ and unflag then and there. You have to retreat to a town and turn off your War Mode. If someone ambushes you in the open, and you can’t fight them off, there’s no difference between War Mode and a PvP server at that point.

They act like it’s literally a switch you can flip on and off at your leisure that doesn’t have any commitment to it.
