I would like true pvp server, no place is safe, cities too, and when an NPC is killed by opposing faction, it stays dead forever, would be like a race to see who could take over realm first. The fun part, is when the losing faction starts making plans to take it back.
Uh, the server would be unplayable in a month.
Nah warmode is better. PVP servers are a noob trap that legit makes new players quit the game in droves.
I love pvp, I like world pvp, I play classic. But pvp servers have so much griefing it really requires the patients of a saint to tolerate. Not a good game model.
I tried classic era i rolled on a pvp server because that was the most popular server not realizing what i was getting into.
Everything was great at first i made lots of many made friends did dungeons we all had a good time.
Then I entered redridge mountains and everything went downhill no matter what quest i tried what mob i needed to kill what npc i needed to talk to what node i needed to pick everything was completely ruined by level 60 horde players ganking me rrganker and his friends killed ganked me to a degree that the game was unplayable no matter what hour of the day i chose to play on there would always be some level 60 horde players completely disrupting my leveling experience by corpsecamping me endlessly.
I once formed a group of five to do the elite quest at the orc castle full of elites and it was completely unplayable anytime we would try to pull any mobs a level 60 rogue would come out and kill us while we were netted they did this for an hour straight before we gave up and stopped trying to do the quest.
The breaking point finally happened in the corporal keeshan quest essentially you had to escort corporal keeshan out of a cave full of level 25 orcs with little downtime I had failed this quest 2 times prior first i fell behind and failed the quest the second time we made it out of the cave but a level 27 rare backed by 4 other mobsthat i couldnt touch at level 23 was in keeshans patrol path and slaughtered us but on the final attempt i grouped with a mage and the quest finally went smoothly i was finally going to complete this quest keeshan was in the clear and after 15 minutes of fighting and close calls we were right outside lakeshire with keeshan!
Until a level 60 horde rogue came out and killed keeshan instantly failing the quest then killing us both… that experience made me quit and never look back I didnt know what i was getting into and now i cant opt out without paying.
The reason I told you this story is because things like this WILL happen if a pvp server existed in retail heck similar things happen in war mode all the time just look at honor hold or duskwood but at least you can opt out of war mode.
So no I do not support adding pvp servers back pvp servers are cancer
10 chars etc
Pvp servers do just fine in classic. I played on grobbulus and it was balanced just fine. And for what you are saying about pvp servers being a noob trap, we just want 1 pvp server, and noobs shouldn’t join it. Ideally the players that join it enjoy pvp and want to do it often. It’s not intended for new players, they should join a server for new players that wow offers already. Or even just a normal server which will still have war mode. I don’t care if bliz even puts a warning before joining the pvp server. That’s fine with me.
Quake sounds should be mandatory. DOMINATING!
Trîçks is on a KILLING SPREE!
hehe
Only in SoD where there are heavy restrictions and monitoring, all other classic PVP realms are near mono faction. Grobb is barely holding on. This is not a super good example to support what you want in retail.
How is it barley holding on, last checked I think it was over 10k?
aka pvp servers were losing pop instead of gaining, which for the slow people means it was failing.
Just refer to the context around the cherry picked quote for more info friend!
By barely hanging on I mean in terms of balance. The journey for balance on grobb has been hard for a long time, it did shift for the longest time between skewed and balanced. It is also not subject to the SoD balancing rules, the other PVP realms either died or now live as unbalanced PVE realms with a PVP tag on them.
Please read this as me brining up something to be cautious of, not as a further attempt to put your idea down. One classic PVP server being balanced when all the others skewed hard is a rough point to use an example, especially when that server is for a game version so removed from retail at this point, it may as well be a different game.
dont need to. just because one server was apparently perfectly fine with no loss at all(which no here believes) all the other ones were failing. aka they werent sustaining.
Got it. In this case, if we had 1 pvp server, my hope is that the community around it would be more willing to keep it balanced. As in the grob example. Or if bliz is willing to implement the forced balance, even better.
So it’s possible there’s social capacity to have one PvP realm, but not many. Which is why OP is arguing for 1 PvP realm!
Hope that brings you up to speed Lemonshark.
Grobb being an RPPVP realm I think helped a bunch. There were a decent amount of organized events between guilds/factions etc during TBCC. Players did put effort in to keep it as balanced as they could. Sadly the same could not be said for others. I do hope for those who like PVP that Grobb isn’t a flash in the pan
Will have to see how their current system in SoD works as the brackets move closer to 60. A fair number of people playing SoD are there mainly for a fresh realm experience, which is always a thing that bumps PVP server numbers for a little bit.
Releasing the game in phases I think also helped PVP engagement in SoD, less grind to deal with, less chance of being ganked by higher levels, focused Wpvp zone.
or the more likely thing was all the servers were losing population and thats why blizz shut them down and you are on the copium.
We don’t know; it’d be cool if Blizz would be able to provide context if this was a data-driven decision, or if a limited experiment could be run to test the type of environment these players prefer to play in.
PVP servers do not do just fine in classic. They still have waaay higher turnover rate than PVE servers.
Bro, I don’t want players to quit the game just so you can gank lowbies.
Here’s an idea: have your one PvP server but it is sharded into levels. Say 1-9, 10-19, a 70 only shard and so on. That way there would be no ganking of low level players by capped ones and they would be playing with a real challenge, of fighting against players their own levels.
