If layering goes in as it is now, expect economy to be 100% destroyed

What if I just want to see the people on my server in the zone? That seems like a best representative of the real, genuine experience. Layering outside of starting zones/the first week, is in no way a genuine experience of wow classic. And it would 100% fix the issue of resource gather abuse.

Even so, I still don’t understand the issue of attaching cool downs on gathering resources after changing layers. If you’re going to add a non-classic element to the game such as layering, you need to make some changes so it’s not ripe for abuse.

The same post you quoted has the explanation.

1 server, 3 servers, 10 servers, 3 layers, 10 layers. It’s all the same ratio of players farming nodes.

Just because a person can layer hop does not mean someone didn’t beat them to the node. It does not change the supply and demand ratios.

Then you should only see 3k levels of people. Otherwise its not an authentic level of population.

So the things you are worried about people hording are all consumables, lotus, thorium etc. Even in if your dooms day scenario comes true, and each realm has a few Scooby-Doo villians that create a bank full of black lotus, there is still a limited impact those horded mats can cause. If they wait a year and dump them all in the market at once, it’s a single long con payoff that will temporarily drive the cost of the mat way down, but they’ll make a bunch of money that one time. If they slow roll it, and maybe just sell a stack every time the market swells, noone will ever see the impact and they’ll be able to buy their epic mounts or twink swords or whatever. But it’s really really not game breaking. A few individuals (and for this to be real it has to literally be single digits people per realm) might be able gain a slight financial leg up at some point over the years long course of the game… Maybe… Excuse me while I go find something else to read.

All of these replies back and forth and not one mention of the children.

Won’t someone please think of the children?!

Well, heck yea, for sure. Considering all they’re apparently going to be doing is camping Black Lotus spawns. Who has time to generate actual gold?

I mean, this stuff just slays me. Ma sides. They cramp up.

Let’s say there’s 5 layers.

Do you know what that means?

That means there will be 5x the Black Lotus’i. FIVE TIMES! OH NOES! This…this is…I can’t even breath thinking about the ramifications of that.

Do you know what else it means?

It means that there’s 5x times the population on the realm! 5x as many people and 5x as many BL! Man, that’s some coincidence.

It’s almost as if all of these resources are going to be some dark secret that only the elite few will know about. Well, from threads such as these, I think that Saberstalker is out of the bag. I’ll bet that not just one player is going to camp those spawn spots, but 5x the players are going to camp those spawn spots!

And, in the end, that might even mean that BL sells for 5x less than it did before! STILL MY BEATING HEART! This is a crisis beyond imagining.

You think the Dutch Tulip thing was bad, well let me tell you about crash of the Black Lotus!

Or, EVEN WORSE, some TOP GUILD will have more Black Lotus than normal and clear content even faster! The TOP GUILD on the realm will clear content first! Completely unlike what that TOP GUILD would be doing had they not had all those resources. Heaven forbid a TOP GUILD clears Naxx a week early.

Because we all know that the TOP GUILD will be doing something that NO OTHER TOP GUILD on any other realm will be doing.

“Hey GM, the other TOP GUILDS are farming BL and layer hopping. They’ll get something done before we’ns will.” “Well, I guess that’s just the way it is then.”

Oh noes, indeed.

This is an extreme over exaggeration. Depending on just how big they decide to make servers, I find it unlikely that there will be more than 2 layers on most servers by the time the first group of players start hitting 60. With the way BL spawns work, there can only be 336 per week, and that’s if they are picked the moment they spawn. The actual number will likely be much less. So even with 5 layers up, nobody is getting “thousands” of BL.

I also don’t see layer hopping being that much of an issue. The problem will be that dedicated vanilla players are watered down by tourists and spread out among multiple layers giving them less competition for high level resources.

I agree it will be a bit of a problem. I think the best solution is to multiply the respawn rate of high level resources and devilsaurs by the number of layers.

If it takes someone months to hit 60, they don’t deserve the benefits of the short term layering exploits. I’m assuming Blizz will do something but it’s not the end of the world for there to be more black lotus in the game by week 2. What’s your fear? That one person will have all the black lotus? He still needs to sell at a market price and farm it against people on the other layers.

Worst case let’s say this dude who is exploiting to farm lotus has 10,000 lotus. What’s the problem? High supply = lower price. Economics 101.

Didn’t you guys read the OP it said 100%.

100%!!

That’s like, all the percents.

If there’s more people gathering resources there’s also more people using said resources. So no impact.

I almost died laughing so hard at this <3

Simpliest solution is require being in a rested area to layer hop. Yeah it will suck for aome things but it 100% stops exploits. Like arena master/black lotus/ reaource farming.

Only if you have 10000 players selling black lotus. If 1 player gets 10,000 black lotus they can drizzle out 5 a day for a year and not reduce market price.

i hear next expansion, they’re gonna implement the use of punctuation marks to prevent run-on sentencing… jesus fricken christ.

You can’t force people to write properly, especially online. you’re called a Na zi if you do infact.

like i care…

omg lol

you guys are insane

you alll LOVE to over exaggerate every little thing

“XYZ is going to DESTROY THE GAME!!!”

every single time lol.

I would add that those who do correct others or at least spell correctly on their own could be memed as a high society monocle wearing top hat toting gentleman.

It won’t likely destroy the economy.

However, there is still the issue of wrongness of these exploits, just like Ion sees the wrongness of world boss copies.

Also, layering time and intensity should be minimized to minimize that state of wrongness.

Don’t harp on Blizz too bad, indie game company that can’t afford real servers to meet demand.
