If blizzard can forcibly move people off dead servers

… then why can’t they forcibly move people off mega servers?

You could even give them a heads up. “You have been selected to change servers.”

After receiving the message,a little blue pop up box pops up on the screen and allows you to search for players you are friended with or have recently played with. Click a button to send that person a message (and the ability to free server xfer with you) to ensure that they too can also transfer with you if they want. If you or your friend is a GM you can move your guild as well.

I’m guessing the issue here is blizzard gets $0 from doing this, so this will surely never happen.

I really hope they do just to see the storm it causes

“I WAS JUST REMOVED FROM BENEDICTION I QUIT”

“So, I decided to login today, and suddenly my character is GONE. I look at my server list and I see that my character is on a DEAD SERVER. *** BLIZZARD? I HATE THIS GAME WHY WOULD YOU REMOVE ME FROM BENEDICTION WITHOUT TMY PERMISSION, I AM CURRENTLY UNSUBBED”

“can I have your gold”
“get gud”

and so you have it, your daily dose of forum drama. But honestly though it’d be interesting to see. But many people, and I mean many, will be crying.

Tbh there isn’t any solution that won’t have someone crying. They tried voluntary free server transfers, but no one will take them because they believe the person next to them won’t take them, creating a self-circulating problem

Forced transfers would just cause like you say

Cross-servers would just get the classic purists’ panties twisted

Everyone is crying for Blizzard to fix it but when pressed for a solution themselves they just say “That’s not my job to figure out!”

I mean if they chose to delete benediction like they did with the dead servers those people would have to go somewhere.

Offer multiple server locations that get locked after they get full.

The sooner you leave the more choice you have

Yes, but it’d be the same cycle all over again. People find a server to all migrate to and that server becomes full. I don’t agree with just deleting a server all because people can’t get in, that’s sort of like saying I should run away from my problems because I can’t solve them

But, they actually cap them once they are deemed “full” that’s the difference. It’s not running away, it’s a very valid solution.

Dissolve the server into smaller ones.

But people already have a free migration option, but they’re left with really inactive servers. In a few months, people will be running back to ben.

Not if it’s capped with a severely smaller allotted population

That is not why at all… Any competitive player wants a) to be on a pvp server b) have good ping. For the servers you are talking about the options are to go from one coast to the other or to be moved to a pve only server. Free server transfers aren’t a thing. There is gaining over 100 ms to a pvp server for 1 toon, which then you would have to spent over a hundred dollars to get the rest of your 70s on, or there is quiting (never played a pve server and never will). For me grobbulus is the only balanced pvp server. What I don’t all the non pvpers leave the pvp servers. I hear so many crying about ganking… why did they even come here?

Not that I support this idea, but if they were to do forced transfers, the newest people should be selected to leave first. They were the ones chasing the mega servers, while the OG people had the mega servers come to them.

See, it’s funny that you say all this, because I have other people telling me on the exact same subject that pvp has NOTHING to do with it. Y’all can’t even agree on a reasoning lol

As with all things communist in nature, people would quit and not play.

It’s grob or nothing.

NOW deleting a realm is a different thing. Because lets say Bene gets deleted tomorrow and everyone is forced to pick another server. Everyone will just pile on the new bene server. That will become the new Bene server. Do you see the pattern here?

Again, not if servers have strict population caps

But then you run into the “what the hell blizz why can’t I play with my friend why are you targeting me specifically I demand you fix this now!!!” problem

The issue is the main tank gets force moved and nobody else does.

The better option is a login with 2-3 options of servers and everyone HAS to leave…

and they lock up once enough people select the same one. Thats the most logical option tbh.

People cry for transfers off mega servers to help the ques but always think someone else should transfer

maybe some of them payed to be there? not sure but i think they know that they would be taking a chance of losing subs. if i had family on my server and they seperated us i would be a little upset.

Yeah just kick people out of servers where they have spent years building community and friendships which, mind you, is a core part of MMOs.

Great idea OP keep using that brain of yours
