Free sub time for transferring off of a crowded server would be nice. Lord knows they make enough from the paid transfers onto a crowded server.
I think the idea is being presented as a possibility that they could get really draconic and go through with it.
Blizzard has done some dum shiet with their IP im sure it wouldnt be completely out of the question

With the idea I brought up you could literally invite anyone to join you after you’ve been selected. You’re not losing any friendships, just loving them to a new server.
You are suggesting they break up guilds and communities that people have built in support of the pillars?

They are going to continue to beat everyone on mega servers until they choose to migrate.
They are forcibly moving people.
Split the server into two servers, making sure to keep guilds together.
Then create an option in the shop that says “I wish to move to the other server”
If someone else on the opposite server also selects “I wish to move to the other server”, then you two will have your request granted by the system and you’ll be swapped.
At first, keep the swaps 1:1 strictly, but keep an eye on the requests to see if adjustments need to be made.
This is the only way you could split a server without causing a riot, imo.
It would be about 1 week of hell for the players but I think it would end up with 2 nicely split servers.

No. That’s why people who are selected to move can “invite” those they play with to also move for free via pop up.
And what would you do if they did implement a system like that, and you were the one forced to move off the server? Would you come back here and start whining that you can no longer play on the server you want to anymore? I bet you would.

No because I could just invite the people I play with to come with me.
Lol I’m not attached to my server of 30k players. I’d rather go somewhere I can actually log in and play the game. Being adults now my friends and I find it hard to all get on at the same time. I’d rather not have that time ruined by que times.
Then put your money where your mouth is and use the free transfer and tell your friends to do the same. It’s essentially the same thing, except you have to manually opt-in for it instead of having a Russian Roulette system determine it for you.

It’s quite impossible to move 5 gbanks worth of items.
Besides, I already used my boosted toon on a low pop server. Haven’t logged into any of my other toons since pre patch hit.
It’s really not though. Especially if all your friends plan on going with you. Unless of course you don’t trust your friends.

If you have 5gbanks worth of stuff then you clearly could do away with at least 4 out of the 5 of them. Just because you’re a hoarder doesn’t make everything you pick up worth holding onto. Sell 90% of all that stuff then roll into a new server with a fat stack of gold. And if you say you’re already rich, then you don’t need 5gbanks worth of junk in the first place.
You can only currently xfer with 5k gold.
Lol having 5 gbanks doesn’t mean I keep junk silly. Selling everything is a silly suggestion considering I wouldn’t even be able to take all my gold with me.
Idk about you but I would instantly quit the game and unsubscribe.
