To be honest, the chuck norris stuff in general channel is what I would simply put on manual ignore. In trade? Another matter entirely.
Ok, this post is such a clear demonstration of why Classic cannot have auto-squelch. Players on crusades for the ‘betterment of mankind’ reporting things they find dumb or silly or out of place. You think someone should be squelched for telling a knock knock joke? They’ve been around forever. Oh, someone made a Led Zeppelin reference. The '70s are over, man.
Such a person is not doing it for the betterment of mankind. They’re on a powertrip and think things they find silly have no place in the game. And instead of maturely simpy ignoring it, that person needs to be silenced! I don’t really have anything left to say on the subject. But if auto-squelch goes through SWJs and the thin-skinned players who literally exist to be offended are going to ruin the game.
Hitting the report, does that not ignore the player? I thought the point was also to ignore them.
One of the problems is they also can’t comprehend the issue with this type of thinking. “I don’t like you? Well then you should be muted!”
By chance, do you work for a big tech company? That is always the run of the mill excuse they vomit out when people are censored off a platform for not violating any rules and the community revolts.
The epitome of “moral superiority”
does that sound like normal behavior to you?
For social media platforms, gaming forums, gaming “journalist” websites etc., yes. That sounds pretty typical.
If you’re annoying enough people often enough to get a squelch for a long enough period that your gameplay is seriously affected, ideally you should take that as a sign that you are unpleasant to play with and should be less annoying. A few hours of solo grinding will give you time to meditate on your relation to others and hopefully grow from the experience. Meanwhile, everyone else will be happy to not have their chat spammed with trolls and people getting trolled. They can actually discuss the game!
unwarranted assumption fallacy, try again
I agree!

You agree with the post committing a logical fallacy? So not surprised
It’s not an unwarranted assumption, it directly follows, lol.
This is what happens when you live inside the tech bubble; a place I thankfully no longer work in.
No. You incorrectly assume that is the reason someone got spam reported for, and that the person actually KNOWS why they were being reported so they could then meditate on said behavior.
Huh? I am talking about the system, not any of that, lol.
? Did you think I meant something else too?
With enough hours to ponder the situation in silence, they’ll figure it out.
With enough hours to ponder the situation in silence, they’ll figure it out.
Again, an unwarranted assumption. Need to me to google that for you?
I like how most of the arguments in these threads are 1 group of people explaining their opinion is fact to another group of individuals who feel their opinion is fact.
