You could have simply stated that it seemed he preferred base sitting, without throwing in the derogatory comment about low damage. Pretty much anyone understands that calling someone out on their damage is never a good idea, because as you seem to understand, defending will result in lower damage. But you didn’t follow up with “if that is the case, I get it” or anything else, you just left the comment about his low damage hanging there. Not cool.
Yep. And when I beg my team to play objectives, they quickly check my dmg, post it in chat, and ridicule me b/c I’m standing at a base by myself defending it (knowing I’ll get zerged and die) and my dmg is low.
I wish stats weren’t available until the end of the match. Players would concentrate on playing instead of who has the most kbs, dmg, and healing.
You could have just left it at “that’s a loaded question” rather than compare it to a RL issue that affects millions sometimes tragically. And nothing disturbing asking about his low damage. I’ve done 8 or 9 Bgs on my ilvl 266 Warlock and my highest damage done is 2.1million so about .5 million less than him and his rogue is almost 370! I thought gear meant everything to you people?
He has hundreds of Bgs done on his reflex. Eventually he’d have Bgs with high damage, he does play a rogue after all and these aren’t the days where rogues are just control machines with little damage. Also he is at a 370 ilvl, plenty high enough for the “gear matters” folks.
It wasn’t derogatory and I wasn’t calling him out on damage it was an observation made based on the amount of damage done. Even if your a defender there are games when you could do a lot of damage just from constantly being in combat. Like I said above, the scoreboard matters very little, I just wanted to get an idea of what his games are like.
Random people just chimed in with their own versions of the story lol.
Yes and no. I have seen some nasty rogue damage in BGs. Okay, base sitting you will have low damage at times. But we’re talking hundreds of BGs on his REFlex and not all are base sitting maps. It is definitely okay to call out someone’s damage when they are complaining about a lot of losses as one person can affect BGs overall. You’re an MVP poster so you are held to a higher standard than the rest of us, so I get why you are trying to be nice about it but come on… The problem with these forums and some of the people who post is the thinking “no one should be held accountable for their BGs” Let’s just complain how we never win, but it’s never my fault… this is really bad logic. And if you make an observation, it’s treated like an actual IRL problem. Rather than finding the problem (low damage) and improving upon that, let’s just complain in the forums.
Actually, no it isn’t ok to call out someone’s damage, just because you don’t want to hear them complain. You don’t have any clue what this person does in a bg, so you are making assumptions and veiled accusations that they are the problem, and basing it all on their damage. Unless you have been playing beside this person, and witnessing them not doing what they need to be doing to help win, you don’t have any place calling them out at all.
Assuming things is not the same as pinpointing. We’ve all seen where someone gets kicked because somebody “assumed” they were AFKing and “called them out” on it.
Depends on map. And comp. And low dmaage isnt always ur fault. A team with a rsham and a spriest v a team with say a rdruid and a shadow priest. Rsham spriest should guaranteed out damage. Just due to his dispels alone. Lots of factors can lead to less damage so it doesnt always mean u lost. Now if u are getting stomped jn team fight and dispels are pretty good and it’s just fact u arent pressuring. It very well could be damage.
Damage absolutely matters, it’s most noticeable in the large teamfights - if your team’s damage is lower than the enemy team’s damage you’re gonna feel it for sure
Good damage wins teamfights, and by extension, bgs. Even without any damage meter addon you can visually tell which team has lower damage by which team is “backpedaling away” or “losing ground”. DPS is super important, especially in those close neck-and-neck games.
Matters about as much as every other stat. But 20k dps from mashing mooonfire isnt gonna win a game when the hunter keeps losing bases in Gilneas. If it shows ur low damage across a multitude of games then it matters.
Thank you. And it does which is fine to point out. When I played a melee in another expansion I definitely lost a fair share since my team was basically a player short due to how I was playing.
