I wish Disney bought Activision

Then I guess they just decided to ignore history. :man_shrugging:

Getting away from the historical inaccuracies because its not ment to be a documentary, the movie is devoid of personality.

Happens all the time with movies. They take things out & add their own twist to it. Big reason why many people are getting fed up with them. Not to mention Hollywood is trying to save face now by acting like they haven’t been ran by sexual deviants & racists since the 1930’s is pretty funny.

They shoot the movie on concentration camp grounds and thanked the land owners. So they’re still doing it lol.

At that point you might as well openly convert Disney/Blizzard to a propaganda wing for the CCP. :man_shrugging:

Wait for Mulan? Seriously!? You know I’m not shocked since the founder of Disney was a far right german sympathizer.

Yikes!

Does Disney own anything with as much violence and themes (genocide) as wow?

Walt Disney was a loyal Democrat for almost all of his life. And, yes he apparently hated the Jews, as a lot of Democrats do now a days. Though they say “Israel” instead of “jew”.

I rather Disney not touch anything else. They’re pretty a-holes about licensing and stuff. I remembered the story of how a father couldn’t get a Spiderman picture on his sons’ gravestone cause no one wanted a lawsuit.

Except they… didn’t?

I literally just told you that it was based off of the historal character of Hua Mulan, who was, at least in Chinese history, a notable figure who lived sometime during the 4th and 6th century. Yes, they added some twists to it with magic, and a witch, and a phoenix, because this was common in Chinese literature of the period.

For example, the historical figure Guan Yu, was a military general serving under the warlord Liu Bei. He was, by all historical accounts, an extremely skilled warrior, strategist and general and he has many accomplishments to his name. But if you read the Romance of the Three Kingdoms he is a legendary, almost godlike figure, that stands 9 ft tall, with a 2ft long beard. Stories exist in Romance of the Three Kingdoms which depict Guan Yu carving his way through entire armies and decapitating generals, yet in reality he did none of these things. But that did not stop his legend from growing to the point where he is now revered as the God of War in Taoism.

It is not ‘ignoring history’ to describe the tale of Hua Mulan, nor is it ignoring history to exaggerate a little with larger than life details, as this is what happened in Chinese culture at the time.

No, they did not shoot the movie on the grounds of a concentration camp. In fact, most of the movie was shot in New Zealand, but locations around Xinjiang were used, and yes, the government was thanked because that’s what a lot of movies do, regardless of where the film is being shot. For example:

That’s a screenshot of movie credits acknowledging and thanking the Canadian and Australian government. In fact, you can take a look at most movies and in the credits, you will find where there is a special thanks given to the governments that assisted in the creation of the film.

I don’t think criticism of a country is the same thing at all as the criticism of a religion.

You’re right, but that’s not what they mean by their criticisms. It’s like saying “I don’t like the people that live in that house.” Or, “you should stay away from that side of the neighborhood.”

Just because bigotry is a step removed, doesn’t mean the intent and mindset aren’t the same.

Why is the typeset crooked?

Well I think that’s a bit of a leap to assume that people who aren’t happy with some of what Israel is doing has anything to do with religion, I don’t like the wars going along on the Gaza Strip for years and years, I really want them to sort that crap out.

Because the screenshot is taken on an angle. You can see the darker black of the edge of the screen running from the bottom left, and disappearing entirely at the bottom right.

It really isn’t. If you haven’t had conversations with these people, then you probably wouldn’t know. But given enough time a lot of people who have criticisms of Israel will eventually start talking about the “jews”.

I was wondering if that was what it was, but wasn’t sure. OK, that’s pretty interesting.

Oh, also, I believe you’re both wrong. I believe the movie wasn’t shot at the site of the Uyghur concentration camps, but close to them.

disney is pure political now. I’m surprised they dont have voting polls at the themepark yet.

lol, Disney brand voting booths. Privacy not guaranteed.

It was literally shot in New Zealand, although locations in China were used to add authenticity.

Principal photography began on August 13, 2018, at locations in New Zealand and China and wrapped on November 25, 2018.

At a September 10 conference, Disney CFO Christine McCarthy said that “almost the entirety” of the film had been shot in New Zealand, but that 20 Chinese locations were used to “accurately depict some of the unique landscape and geography of the country”.

Well I think there is a difference between criticizing zionism as a philosophy, and a Jew as a person, and besides, there are many Jewish people that oppose zionism too
