I Will Tank if Nobody Abuses Me

I would suggest starting your own groups and list them as a “SLOW GROUP”. then if they cry remind them they picked a slow group.

EDIT: Also, Your awesome and TY for being a Tank. You Rock!

if this is m+ specific, make your own groups.

I have found some success putting “smooth and steady” in my titles when I form groups.

you can put more details in the description.

or

when you whisper a group leader to join tell them you don’t pull super fast.

and if you get invited, thank the group leader and then give them a chat “i’m not a very fast tank. is everyone ok with that?”

if you get flak, you can ditch right away.

but my guess is that as you do more, you can pick up your pace just a bit.

and let’s be clear, unless you are pushing endgame content, you aren’t going to be pulling of MDI strats anyway.

if you can get comfortable with pulling 2-3 packs or 2 packs and grabbing a patrol, you’ll be fine.

the more dps your group does, the faster it goes. DPS like to put up big numbers. give them a chance to do that and everything is fine.

and if you are only comfortable grabbing 1-2 packs, then move right away to the next pull.

if you are only comfortable grabbing one pack at a time, do yourself a favor and don’t tank m+. it will be a bad time for everyone.

I tank almost entirely living the puglife. I usually start slowly and try to build up to what can be done with the group i’m running with. I am probably overly cautious and underestimate what I can mitigate, but i’d rather the run get completely smoothly than try a huge first pull that wipes. totally sets a bad tone for the run.

I’d rather gauge the group and increase speed along the way. in general, i try to pull 2-3 packs at a time, grabbing patrols along the way.

there are times when it can be helpful for someone to help me bring in pulls.

a good hunter with misdirect can really shine.

if the healer starts pulling, it is game on

That you trying to live in a glass world lolz ,

If ppl abuse you , just leave and try again with another group . You have learn how to deal with it , not take it too seriously and make ultimatums

Because a majority of players, you included, are on their side. You think anyone who doesn’t share their playstyle should not use the ques, and should make their own group instead.

I said I’d tank if nobody abuses me, you said what I wanted was unreasonable and I should stay out of the ques. Fair enough. I do. And that’s why you have a tank shortage.

Nah, I’m on neither side. I just understand the basics of interacting with randos vs friends.

It’s pretty impressive that you keep saying that when you could actually just read what I really wrote.

Sure didn’t. But I guess whatever makes you feel better about your decision. As long as you’re having fun playing it’s all good.

I have 10 tank toons. No shortage for me.

So why should I stay out of ques and not them? Why do I have to accommodate them 100% or make my own group, and not them?

tanking requires doing homework on fights and routes before you go into a place. accept that fact… nobody likes having to teach people in a m+ when you should have learned the place on heroic or normal. and having a tank that doesnt know the route or over pulls means a dead key… dead key means im not staying. the videos are there for you to learn… just gotta put in the effort

We’re already wasting time playing World of Warcraft. Heavens forbid a dungeon run takes a few extra minutes by a tank who’s not completely totally 100% perfect.

Not everyone can learn from videos. There seriously needs some grace room for tanks to get acclimated and do some hands-on learning.

Spoken like a true dps

i dnt want to b abused bros

I tank bruh got 2500+ in df on multiple toons and been tanking since tbc and was main tank for icc 25 heroic in wrath when it was current. I have been looking up raid fights so I’m going into current tier knowing how it works instead of wiping more than we have to

Why keep asking questions if you don’t bother to read the answers anyway?

If you cannot, or prefer not to, develop a roster of like-minded players; and/or do not want to seek a community that is M+ focused, I would also recommend making your own groups with the tag line: “Learning tank, chill group”

I can only imagine the legion of players that see that and think: “Thank gods, someplace I can learn the dungeon!” Also post a reasonable ilvl requirement for the key level.

Everyone speaks to how toxic the WoW community is, but I promise, if you actively work to control your play environment, you’ll find a metric ton of nice players. They won’t always be perfect players, but the majority will be trying and a goodly portion will be competent.

Blizzard has put in the tools that allow you to socialize in the ways that suit you best - but it’s up to you to use them.

Good gaming to you.

I feel like this is a pretty shared perspective amongst many who have played or still do play classes with the role of tank.

Prior to ‘Mythic Plus’ I use to tank a lot on my characters; it was fun – but M+ sort of brought out the aggressive natures of people from the “rush” factor, needing to pull the right sequences of trash for % and the very-specific routes to take. :scream:

Sure not all groups are bad, however the anxiety of encountering the many out there that are – is rather dissuading @ players towards playing the role of tank :pensive: To a smaller extent I’d say that also applies to healers too.

Honestly, this is why I think World of Warcraft should have the ‘Commendation’ system that FF14 has; upon completing the dungeon / delve.

  • Incentivises good behaviour.
  • Motivates people into playing friendly.
  • Potentially even reveal to some players that friendly gameplay is a lot more progressive than aggressively toxic behaviour.

 The only thing is, as people have expressed — is that particular groups could simply abuse it for the rewards; so if they can find away to negate that (like you can only commend X player / account, once per week) – Then I’d be ALL for it. :dracthyr_nod:

i want you to abuse me and i will abuse anyone who tries to abuse you.

But, you’re doing what makes you happy at 4 other peoples’ expense. Hypocritical, selfish viewpoint.

keep it in goldshire…

oh it’s a simple solution, just remove chat from the game and also force close the forums. GG’s.
