I think I can get through a dungeon. But I am not going to do the optimal route. I am not going to know all the pulls to skip. Even after doing the dungeon 100 times.
I don’t want to pull huge because I don’t wanna die. But if you pull for me I will pick it up… IF I CAN. Sometimes I won’t be able to. Or I might die.
So do you want me in your que? Or do you want to wait 40 minutes for a tank?
See, the problem is you can’t choose this beforehand, because if you can, you can just exclude me and I won’t show up in your que and no problem. In fact that still benefits you because the group that took me, made it so you got your perfect big fast fast rush rush optimal route tank, FASTER.
Let people choose this beforehand. Then I tank. And I don’t get abused. And you gogogo people get your ideal tanks faster.
I might have to actually wait for a group that’ll have me. But you know what? That’s fine.
We need a checkmark that lets people check, “I am forgiving” and then I can check that I need it and I don’t show up in your que unless everyone checks that they are forgiving.
Everyone will check it if it means they get a faster queue and continue the crappy behavior anyways. It’s unfortunate but its just how people on the internet are.
I get the point you’re making, but realistically no. They want the best of both worlds because there are enough impatient people playing.
If anything, the only thing I expect to change is I’ll start seeing “GET FASTER QUEUES WITH THIS ONE SIMPLE TRICK” videos popping up on my youtube feed.
I think I do. If I put tank, it means the group won’t fill me in unless they need a tank. The que might have spots for DPS, but it will only take from the DPS that qued, to fill them. It will pass me over and take someone else, if the spot is for a DPS.
If I put “I need a forgiving group” then same deal, the group doesn’t fill me in, unless there is a spot for that, which means everyone checked that they were forgiving.
No, what you’ll get are outcasts convinced everyone else is the problem but they’ll check the box and expect the world to cater to them. (If used at all.) And the queue times for that are projected to be very long.
So they’ll go back to the real queue for a faster time.
And other tanks? they actually want to play with good players, and won’t sign up for this queue.
As much as I would love to be in the “forgiving” queue, I fear I would likely be one of the few. I feel like most players are just there for the rewards, whether its gold, xp, or loot.
Most players seem to be very unwilling to babysit, while also consistently following the path of least resistance, both of which spell certain doom for the “forgiving” queue, imo. It’s still worth a try though; would be a fiun and enlightening experiment for certain.
I will deal with longer ques and I will take on more challenging roles. I am not alone. I see six threads about people abusing tanks, expecting them to perform 100% optimally, and they are all filled with replies that say, “This is why I don’t tank for pugs.”
I’ve had instances where being nice doesnt work and I’ve had to be mean. Usually it’s been because a tank in a pug is pulling too much and dying/wiping the group. I’ve never yelled at a tank for not playing optimally, but I will yell at a tank if they’re trying to do more than they can handle.
Man, some of you people are weird as all heck. Maybe it’s just me but I honestly don’t care what some rando that I’ll never see again thinks of me or how I play lol.
