I Was Wrong

Players dont like being held responsible for their poor behavior?

Who knew.

Also, this seems like a good addon.

Yet open review systems exist all over the internet.

I disagree. There was an old addon in the MoP era created by a very tyrranical and toxic dev that was LFG on steroids AND it even had a player ranking system built into it…it persisted for quite awhile and only got nuked, as far as I recall, because the guy was bombarding the servers nonstop…it never got nuked because the star rating system was easily manipulated (not to mention the dev actually banned people by hardcoding their names/ID in the addon itself so they couldn’t use it or showed up as ultra bad players or whatnot).

Sure, but it’s just not going to happen here. Again, nothing stops me and 20 of my guild members from reporting you for no reason. There’s no way to verify the information.

That’s what he wants, it seems.

I guess we’ll see what happens. Unless the thing really catches on, it’ll be forgotten about in a month.

Even IF they managed to root out all abuse it’s still subject to the feelings and thoughts of the author of the addon. Who are they to decide who gets reported and who does not? Do they get to decide what is good and acceptable behavior? Now the whole community has to be on their toes and live up to whatever standard was created by this random person? Social manipulation is bad even in the best of hands.

ITT: key bailers

One of the things I very much thing Blizzard needs is an actual player feedback and ranking system. I full well know how open to abuse it can be, but NOT having it is much worse. Good and helpful players (not to be confused with sickeningly nice) should be brought to light every bit as much as toxic (not to be confused solely with bad) players should also be brought into the same light.

This is how you deal with a toxic culture…you stop giving those relishing in it the safety and security of anonymity. Certainly you can go too far with this, but I still see nothing inherently wrong with there being at least SOME system to give players some kind of persistent feedback that others can see and make use of the information also.

No it isn’t perfect and pretty easy to rig without Blizzard taking a conscious effort to curb that…but I would bet that it would still be helpful overall.

It is a platform ripe for abuse. Without controls, an appeals process, it should be banned.

IN addition, the developers have huge legal exposure. They are acting as a publisher of this information, so any false statements expose the publisher to libel.

Other MMO’s have feedback systems, even Overwatch has one. The catch is that they never allow you to leave a negative review. That’s not going to change. People just cannot be trusted with that system, no matter how welcome it might be.

“Your honor, the defendant inaccurately stated that my shaman missed several kicks, and didn’t lust on p3”

just lol.

Why do you keep acting like the addon authors are the ones solely deciding what comments you get are or that they determine the community standards?

No, I will always fight people like you and thoughts like this. Social control and manipulation is evil. You don’t get to tell people what the right or wrong way to be or act is, ever, and I mean ever. You don’t get to slap labels on them and outcast them because you think what they did was wrong in some way.

This thought control is evil man. Pure plain and simple.

There is no telling them right or wrong but to think there isn’t a standard expectation of you in a social setting is very false. If you act like a raging donkeyhat in “my” group, I very much want the next group to at least be aware that that is how you acted in my group and let YOU worry about explaining it to them and/or them deciding if it is relevant or not to warrant inviting you or not.

And pray tell how is one going to get that info?

I ran with this druid man…pretty sure he was from 1234 terrorist street. I got this because I am psychic?

I think, and I’m no lawyer of course, that you need to be able to show damages for libel. I’m not sure that getting kicked out of a BG is grounds lol.

But thats assuming people don’t abuse the system. If I took someone to a key then they acted like that so I remove them they can then go to the discord and make it seem like I was the problem. Get a few guildies and guess what I look terrible because they didn’t like being called out.

Oh no being held accountable for what you say in game how scary

You’re missing it. Nothing stops me from reporting you right now for no reason at all. Every forum disagreement will result in negative reports lol.
