"After performing an additional review of the evidence considered in this action, we’ve determined that this closure was an error. We are reopening this license for play and hope you will accept our sincere apologies for the mistake. "
I think we can all see how that would leave somebody confused and upset, though. They unknowingly receive illegitimate goods from somebody and get punished for it. Even though this is what the appeals process is for, it is problematic that innocent people can be punished like this in the first place.
This would be fantastic for the hackers, botters, gold sellers, exploitative accounts, etc., because then it would lay out EXACTLY what the did to be detected. Then, they would alter their approach/programs to become undetectable again.
So no, it’s not a great idea, and will likely not be happening.
Having said that…
For chat offenses, and chat offenses only, this would be helpful. It’s something they used to do, but there were flaws in the lines of chat provided, so it doesn’t happen right now. They’ve been very clear that it’s something they would like to do again, but it helps no one if the provided chat is flawed.
And this would give the potential offenders the exact circumstances that got them caught. Blizzard will not reveal the precise details so that the cheaters and exploiters can’t circumvent the detection.
This thread is not about reports. It is about the anti cheat detection software and false positives, or marginal cases.
Blizzard will NEVER share how exactly they detect cheating/exploits and they won’t share exactly what they found. Just the category. They do that to prevent people from gaming the anti cheat system and trying to avoid detection.
If you are talking about reports for chat system infractions then yes, those used to have a sample of the reported text the GM reviewed. That system is currently broken and was throwing in text that was not related to the account action. It is currently disabled but Blizzard does realize that not having the chat infraction in front of the person is a problem. It does not help folks learn what not to say/do. Spamming, advertising, profanity/masked profanity, etc.
For those that were unbanned, make sure you put in a ticket asking for game time back. I don’t think they do it automatically. It seems most people were only suspended for a day or so at this point, but that’s still a day you paid for you didn’t get to use.
I just wanted to let people here know my friend who caught the 2 week just got it lifted very recently. They said the received no notification about it. So make sure and just check your account if you believe your ban was false.
When the Hacks team realizes there is a false positive or that the detection criteria is flawed/too broad, they fix the criteria, run the detection software again, then do an un-ban wave kind of like the ban wave. That fixes it for impacted people even if they did not appeal.
That should fix it for those who were caught up accidentally while leaving the true positive account actions intact.
