I was just suspended for 2 weeks for no reason

Edit: My suspension was overturned. Thanks to you all who commiserated and were supportive during this. Especially to Mirasol for their kind words.

Hi, I know the answer I’m going to get but I’m freaking out and nervous so I’m posting anyway. I was suspended for 2 weeks today for selling something in the game for real money, which I didn’t and have never done. I’m assuming this was gold they are describing but my gold has not fluctuated at all and they should be able to see that right?

I don’t even use the blizzard store much, but I did buy the Bruto. I did buy 43 Reagent boxes with undercoins the other day and made 140k in one day, but that’s the only thing I can think of.

Has anyone else received something like this? I did appeal it, but from stories on the forums, I am not hopeful. I don’t get how this can happen.

Did you check your email? The email would give a reason to why you were suspended. Even make sure to check the spam folders. Within that email, it would also tell you how to appeal and would provide links.

Only thing you can do is appeal, and you can only appeal until they tell you to stop. Keep in mind, appeals aren’t to plead the case, they are there incase Blizzard made a mistake on their end.

Yes, to quote: “This account was suspended because it was involved with the exchange of in-game property for “real-world” currency.”

I did appeal it. This is ridiculous.

It’s only speculation, but if this is something that happened via a trade window and not the AH, I highly recommend against doing that going forward. You may have unintentionally come into possession of tainted gold from somewhere in the buyer’s chain.

Other than that, the appeal ticket you have in is the only way to have this looked into again.

All you can really do is appeal until you cannot appeal anymore, and await the decisions.

Question, you didn’t trade gold with another player or accept gold from another player?

No, I just opened the boxes and posted the contents on the AH. At the end of the day I took 143kish from the mailbox :frowning:

I’m talking with a friend who’s account just got a 2 week suspension well. I found this post as said they should reply because it seemed to come out of the blue and I know she has also bought several of the Reagent boxes the past few days to make some gold so it stood out to me.

She was unable to reply though because it said her account had been silenced so was curious how you were able to post.

This is her first suspension and I was surprised it was 2 weeks out the gate.

No, no trades. I can’t remember trading with anyone, I think someone traded me gear at the end of a m+ run but it was like 2 weeks ago. I am mostly a solo player, I pug my runs, etc.

If that’s the case then it is entirely possible that the large gold exchange may have flagged your account for investigation and a mistake was made, but it is just speculation.

Omg so youre saying someone else was suspended after buying a bunch of reagent boxes? Insane

It suggests another ban wave may have gone out, but two weeks for RMT is a pretty niche penalty where it’s normally six months.

That or perhaps an exploit.

Speculation: wasn’t there an exploit related to the boxes that had a hubbub about it not too long ago?

To the OP:
ALWAYS check each mail you receive, sometimes sellers will send you a small amount of copper or silver and clicking the open all button will get ya on that.

If I am off base please let me know.

It’s possible. It has happened before where certain activities were being cracked down on and some innocent accounts were caught in the crossfire.

It was all from the auction house. I didn’t get mail from any player. Aside from like crafting stuff.

This just happened to my account as well. I was JUST banned for 2 weeks mere minutes after Plunderstorm launched.

For the same reason: “account was suspended because it was involved with the exchange of in-game property for “real-world” currency

I have never done ANYTHING like that at all and I most CERTAINLY was not hacked. I did a TON of Kaheti Slum Shark fishing a couple months ago to save up for the mount, and get my Algari Weaverline achievemenets done, and made some gold, but that’s all I can think of that may have been remotely anything like that.

I sent away an appeal already and it says it will take 24 hours to review. This is crazy, I was just about to log into Plunderstorm as well.

No trades and no accepting money from other players as well. What on earth is going on? I have been playing for 20 years and most certainly did not expect this tonight.

This happened to my friend too! She just now got suspended for the exact reason, for the exact amount of time, despite the fact that shes never “abused the economy”.

The only difference is that she didnt buy reagent boxes, nor did she come into a lot of gold in a short time span. We literally cannot think of a single reason she mightve gotten banned. Lol

Also, it was her first offense as well… so again, super weird that they came out with the ban hammer so strongly.

WOW. I am like losing it over here. This really should never happen.

Everyone, all you can do is appeal. Nothing can be done here on the forums. We can sit here and speculate at anything possible, but we don’t have access to the logs. You’ll need to appeal for this to be looked at incase it is an error made by Blizzard.

Just to set a baseline, combating gold sellers is the longest-standing fight Blizzard and other MMO developers have been fighting since really the dawn of gaming. It carries harsher penalties than a chat violation would, for example.

But again, two weeks versus the standard six months is quite a compromise.
