but it’s getting harder to stay hyped. I honestly just get depressed thinking about how quickly blizzard has switched their stance on the whole microtransactions in classic thing.
I play prot paladin in classic wow. Since launch, I worked tirelessly on my character. I played over 120 days, I have just about every piece of gear you can use on a prot paladin in raids (except Gluth’s missing collar, which still eludes me) I got thunderfury, saph shield, 5 set t2.5. I grinded to rank 11, done countless quests, fought armies of horde.
Classic has been amazing for me. And despite the nay-sayers, I got to do what I wanted: tank as a paladin. It was a serious struggle, and I was looking forward to the next expansion, The Burning Crusade, because it brings the viability of paladin tanks up quite a notch.
But for me, with the confirmation of level boosts, the blatant going-back of blizzard on their own word, and now the possibility of MORE micro transactions? I’m just not sure if I want to continue. The hype really is dying for me. I see the same depression setting in from my guildmates as well.
I’ve always been upset by RMT and botting in classic. I don’t like the idea of someone else coming in and just BUYING the achievements that I worked so hard for. The fact that blizzard as a company is now doubling down on the very things that make the game WORSE for people like me by offering to do it themselves is upsetting.
What’s the point of playing this game if someone else can just buy my achievements?
And I’m not saying I won’t play, but honestly, I don’t know. I just get this dreadful feeling like tbc will be dead a few months in because people forgot about the entire spirit of the game. I know it sounds crazy, but I’d honestly prefer no changes over changes that belittle the entire reason I play the game itself.
