I think M+ only appeals to small segment of the player base

No piece of content has a majority of players outside of leveling and questing, because everyone has to do that

Where’s the data? You just showed us one metric.

Badges.

for the 3rd time .its not poor participation… Your data is skewed #1. #2, they have multiple types of engame content. some players, like you apparently do not enjoy M+ but like raids or PvP (or now delves when higher tiers launch) 30-40% participation is good when you actually think and factor in the other types of end game content and the enjoyability of the UNIQUE PERSON. Something doesn’t need 70% participation to be successful. You are thinking about this very narrow mindedly as if M+ is the end all be all.

Lfr had like 70% participation in mop, but then we’d also need to include heroic dungeons so that number would likely balloon to 70% or more for dungeons too

Bingo. How many players do Pet Battles, Rated PVP or play the AH as their main gameplay. I’d venture to guess the numbers would be about the same.

Badges weren’t really a thing until they added that Sunwell vendor.

TBC also had a bunch of non-instance BiS gear, like the crafted Tailoring set and some apexis-related stuff like the Badge of Tenacity.

(I spent weeks farming that damn thing.)

I mean, if you want to argue that, we have a lot of crafted bis here too, everyone will wear at least 2 pieces (though it will not be as crazy as df)

Also that first vendor had a couple bis

I totally get this, but you’re missing my point here.

The game design is being heavily skewed around this single activity.

You cannot deny that class design has not shifted immensely since Legion due to M+.

The end game reward structure heavily favors M+ grinding, it is the most lucrative content in the game.

I don’t care that there is a segment of players that want to grind M+ as their WoW experience, I just want the developers to stop skewing the game so hard around this single activity.

PVP took a huge back seat in WoW when M+ came into the game. Raid design is designed around people having M+ gear.

It sucks for people that don’t want to spam M+ at all.

Back in the day, a lot of instanced content was one-and-done.

Shadow Labyrinth, for example, as part of the attunement to Kara. You did it once… and you were done.

You weren’t doing it multiple times a week forever.

And you certainly weren’t farming it every few months to get the exact same item all over again that you already had. (Which is one of the stupidest things about M+.)

Nah. We had players farming Badges from the moment they were introduced.

You are doing the same crap you’re complaining about. Skewing the game data to benefit your PoV. and M+ gear is not required to do raiding. just the guild you’re in apparently. cause, i went in with basic M0 last expansion and we did normal/heroic just fine. most of my guild did not push M+ at all.

M+ is most ignored from a balance perspective, so I really don’t know what you’re on about. And you can do most content in the game without doing m+, only really mythic raiding are you required to do both

Sure because all there was to do was Raid log after a certain point in gearing. Dungeons were a waste of resources until M+ made them valid for the whole expansion.

Care to elaborate?

I ran sl a bunch of times for a drop in both original tbc and classic too

Not everyone plays the same, but I definitely chased badges in both as well

Same. I think most players did stuff like that back then. He’s a Raid logger though so it makes sense.

Are you kidding with this comment? Blizzard makes class changes all the time because people cry their class is 2% behind in dmg in M+.

Most of the class complaints are from M+ players complaining their spec isn’t viable in M+.

I have suffered through multiple seasons of arena PVP now with these bloated M+ class kits. It sucks, and is the main reason PVP died in the game. They’re doing the same thing to raiding now.

Blizzard balances around Raiding first.

Have you ever actually looked at m+??? It’s the same 5 classes in every team, legitimately they do not care about m+ balance lol
