I selected high mountain tauren

I selected high mountain tauren and your game made me go Regular Tauren…???

What? This does not make any sense, because I was making a post about going high mountain, which you can see:

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/i-am-questioning-how-good-void-elf-racial-is-now-lmao/2030572/14

May I have a refund or a reversal? This is not cool. I am locked for 72 hours and I do not know what to do.

Refund or reversal of what? Did you use a boost on the character?

It is not a boost; I bought 3 faction changes and actually changed the only level 80 character I have.

I do not remember why I went to the main screen after customizing; I think it said I had mail in my inbox after I customized it. I like the original I had with the red paint; that was a random female tauren. So I deleted the mail and made a new customization I liked. When I entered, I am now a normal Tauren and not a high mountain. Absolutely worthless for
what I wanted to test.

I 100% made sure I was selecting high mountain, so I have no idea why I am suddenly regular Tauren. Also, this is the first time this has ever happened to me, and I’ve spent $6000 on this game from faction changes alone.

It is also very confusing that they put both Taurens next to each other on the character creation screen; they do not do this with any other race combos; just Tauren…

Have you tried the automated refund service?

Just hit the blue CONTACT US button and it will check for any eligible refunds.

If eligible, you can request for a refund. And what this will do is refund the money of the faction changes, assuming you haven’t used the other 2 with the 3 faction changes you purchased, and revert the character back to the original race it was before doing the faction change.

I will try, thank you.

Edit: They want me to create a manual ticket for that option.

Like, why do they put the 2 Tauren’s next to each other? No other races do that? They are all separated. Orcs, Gnomes, Dwarfs, Trolls, Elfs, etc – They are all separated by other class types.

That’s just the way it worked out.

Before Earthen got shoved randomly in the middle, Allied Races were sorted top to bottom in the order they were added in.

I think I am going to make it my new mission in life to only play World of Warcraft the last season of the expansion. It seems its the only season anything is balanced, and then they release a new one and screw it all up for the next 2.5 seasons.

Gosh, ugh!

Not sure what that has to do with the topic at hand, but do what sparks joy in your heart.

This is their reply:

Thank you for contacting Blizzard Entertainment, this is Game Master Iralstira, I will be the one assisting you today.

I totally understand you used faction change, and it made your character Tauren instead of high mountain,I’ll look into the matter for you.

After checking, unfortunately since the faction change used it is not possible to reverse the faction change, I checked and double-checked for any work-around for you and if there was any possible chance, I would never be late to help.

If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to contact us again. Wishing you a great rest of the day.

Best regards.
GM Iralstira

What the hell? This is not true, I’ve had them refund me for one of these that was used before. Also, what is this English - “I would never be late to help?”

This is exactly what I mean, they got bugs and customer service that is not caught up on what is possible, every single dang expansion. Not willing to refund a charge because of “a system limitation” is criminal and a lie as they have done it before. It’s one of the only things I’ve actually been able to successfully refund in the past and now they are denying me of it - one of the last expansions I am 100% sure they refunded it.

They do make exceptions to the refund rules on rare occasions. That is usually on a case by case basis and the exception is usually done only once for the Battlenet account. The current Refund Policy is that they do not refund used account services.

In-Game Items

We’ll refund most items that you buy with real money and receive in-game within 14 days of purchase, as long as you have not claimed, opened, or otherwise used the item.

  • World of Warcraft Shop Items and Bundles (Pets, Mounts, and Cosmetics)
  • World of Warcraft Character and Guild Services
  • World of Warcraft Tokens

I understand that the two class buttons are right next to each other, but the game did not bug and create the wrong race for you during your faction change. Most likely you accidentally selected the wrong one.

That is not something a GM can undo for you. Even if it was a bug, that is not something a GM can help with. It would have to be fixed by the Developers so that it never happens to others, but they don’t do singular developer fixes on accounts.

There are things in WoW that are up to us to pay careful attention to and if we select the wrong thing, we deal with the consequences. Selecting quest rewards, selecting vendor items (including those with currency/tier tokens), crafting items, character services, etc.

Not true, consumer protection act protects against bugs like this and malicious practices like clicking the correct one and having it load the other version of Tauren.

I did not even realize I was customizing a different version of Tauren because when did Tauren get feathers, and horns and glass eyes? I actually liked the high mountain I had that was randomized but when I came back I couldn’t get a good randomization. I made sure to only select high mountain. The first time I selected, the roll was perfect and had no need to customize. I could reverse charge the $46 and send them to small claims if they ban my account for the value of the account for all the charged ever made over $6000. This is shady.

Next time I am using PayPal so I can dispute and don’t have to go through my bank. This is criminal. Not the first time a faction change has bugged out for me and they’ve not been willing to refund and it’s not a me problem, the game is bugging and the consumer protection act is there to protect us individuals against predatory practices.

Do you have any evidence that there is a bug impacting race selection during a character change? Are there any other reports of people selecting one race and the game using a different one? You say you selected the right one, but you also talk about them being right next to each other. It is most likely you made a mistake, did not realize it, and then went through the whole customization and confirmation without correcting it.

You also customized the character and had time to change if it was not the right race before you finalized.

Blizzard did not in any way attempt to deceive you. They also gave you a chance to correct it before finalizing if you clicked the wrong thing.

You likely got exactly what you selected - your mistake in selecting the wrong one, is yours. There is nothing “predatory” about not correcting your mistake. You paid for a character service, and got the character service. You used the customization features, reviewed them, and finalized.

Now, if you can find any other reports that the race selection is bugged, that would be different.

EDIT

Wait, so you knew that refunds were not guaranteed despite your assertion that they did it once for you as an exception?

Paypal will do the same thing as your bank will - they will look into it and see any of them is within the law and if something was given as brought. They don’t give refunds because someone ask.

It isn’t a blanket protection against everything, even buyer’s remorse. Along with that, they don’t handle something a player mistaken did as there are many systems in place to ensure the user know what’s they’re doing and agree with what they’re about to have done.

If ya so ya gonna win, file a law suit then.

It was not my mistake! It was a clear bug, what you are you guys not understanding?

Plus there are several other red flags, like not being able to copy your characters to test on PTR. Funny how this happens, when they release an update and its clear I’ve done at least 30+ faction changes since Jan 2006.

Have you ever read the EULA? https://www.blizzard.com/en-us/legal/fba4d00f-c7e4-4883-b8b9-1b4500a402ea/blizzard-end-user-license-agreement

THIS AGREEMENT CONTAINS A BINDING ARBITRATION AGREEMENT AND CLASS ACTION WAIVER IN THE SECTION TITLED “DISPUTE RESOLUTION.” THIS AGREEMENT AFFECTS YOUR RIGHTS WITH RESPECT TO ANY “DISPUTE” BETWEEN YOU AND BLIZZARD AND MAY REQUIRE YOU TO RESOLVE DISPUTES IN BINDING, INDIVIDUAL ARBITRATION, AND NOT IN COURT.

Nothing you are saying is accurate at all for a legal dispute with Blizzard. You picked the wrong race. Your option is to deal with the choice, or pay for a race change service and be more careful.

We get what you claimed. We also get that there is no evidence of anyone else having that bug. If it was happening you would not be the only one.

That has nothing at all to do with a Faction or race change.

it 100% does, they could and probably are not letting you copy there because they want you to pay for a faction change on live. As on PTR, you can easily faction change for free.

These agreements never hold up in small claims. They are blanket statements, not that a lawyer would even be sent to Washington for a measly $6000.

I did not pick the wrong race, their game bugged out and made me pick that race! They are going to be in hot water soon. They are doing shady things.

That is totally unrelated to any supposed “bug” that you claim impacts Faction or Race changes. PTR is PTR.

Yes, EVIDENCE does matter. Further, not liking a race change is buyer’s remorse. Not the game provider failing to provide the paid for service allowing the user to select a new race.

Go for it. Start by sending your lawyer the refund policy, and EULA you agreed to. That has the info in it for the Arbitration process.

You will also need to provide EVIDENCE that there is a known bug that forced you to select the wrong race, that it forced you to customize the wrong race, and forced you to confirm the service after that.

Then, you have to prove that Blizzard refuses to correct the bug or provide a refund for a known flawed service.

Good luck!
