So I actually just picked up the free trial about a month and a half ago. REALLY just barely inched away at it at first because it was so dreadfully awful.
Eventually I became so upset with various weeks of affixes on wow and I decided to plunge in head first.
So I hit a wall right at level 50 when I had to do that quest chain right before heavenward. That’s with the change in msq, only side quest for mount, and job quests.
I played pretty much all the content to the current patch and its actually kind of boring especially if your someone that pugs everything. Queues are 3x as long as WoW for dps. Every class has 1 way to play no specs so if you’re bored you need to start leveling another job. There isnt as many little side activities that I would consider fun outside of Gold Saucer. The questing / leveling is on par with something from 2010 and very dated. Also the pvp is garbage even to play casually. Dont get me wrong I love it and go back and forth between games all the time but it certainly has just as many or more downfalls as WoW. I Think alot of people like it simply because its “new” if you have been playing WoW for a long time. I enjoy the raids and the game has a charm to it that makes you feel good along with a less toxic community but I dont know if id say its better.
I tried it. Not for me at all, glad for those that enjoy it, but I just… am so used to WoW now that I couldn’t. Everything was so dull to me, sadly. The only game I’m looking forward to is the VtM game that also got delayed.
I’ll probably just work on collecting in WoW until Shadowlands.
I actually resubbed recently and rerolled from Paladin to Warrior. Been having fun though, I really love the story and the housing. I do still have issues with the 2.5 second GCD and also feel a bit overwhelmed with just how many buttons I have. I have like… 6 defensive CD’s all off the GCD.
Idk, its a different beast but I have been enjoying it.
If you can even get a house. You have to sit there clicking on a placard for up to 24 hours just to get the random chance to buy it. Makes no sense when it could just be a random draw with the winner paying up. Worst system ive seen for distributing property in a game. but hey if you ever do get one you wont ever want to unsub and go through that again so maybe its a marketing plow.
I have been playing a lot of 7 Days to Die. Making different builds messing around on public servers, it’s been a ton of fun.
I played recently and was enjoying it until I hit the brick wall that is the quests in between ARR and the first expac. It was just so draining not making any progress, kinda just lost interest.
Meh, tried it, got all the way up to shadowbringers. It was okay, but not great. I picked archer, because I liked the idea of being an archer, but you don’t get to be an archer end game, you have to be a stupid bard. The world is too instanced and the dungeons / raids are the most super obviously telegraphed routines ever, I’m not sure how you’re meant to die short of really trying to wipe. The story is really dry as well. Other than Y’shtola there were no characters I ever gave a crap about.
Hard pass.
Tried it a long time ago, wasn’t impressed then, have zero interest in ever returning.
It would take them basically remaking the game and overhauling multiple systems to make me remotely care about the state of that game ever again.
I will agree here. I think that ESO still has the best housing system of modern mmo’s.
yes
It’s a fantastic game. Well worth playing. If they had pvp beyond the eternal queue for what looks like a 5 man arena it would be better, but it’s still fun to play.
Imagine being a weeb who plays final fantasy. The two games don’t even compare. Go play your anime game if you love it so much. Tbh these final fantasy “players” are more obnoxious than the odd classic poster.
FFXIV patch 5.35 releases on October 13 same day as wow pre patch.
Coincidence? I think not.
I’ve given it a go and I really like the story.
I think what led me to quit it is the overall gameplay (the world is less ‘open’) and it feels less polished than WoW. Sadly it was too much of a dealbreaker.
Plus sides though; class depth, community, story and character customisation. Some game design elements are strong such as duty roulettes ensuring all dungeons are covered so anyone of any level can do a dungeon.
Something fun to pass the time, you’d lose nothing by doing the free trial to 60. If you do everything there is to do in that trial that’s a huge amount of content you’re able to participate in for no cost other than just installing the game and making an account.
-Ish Ale, Typhon.
Sec got to leave party to take your quest to watch the cinematic for it.
What’s with all these FFXIV threads?
For me, no thank you. I lost faith in Square Enix a long time ago.
I did and I didn’t really like it. Imo combat felt really, really slow and that’s even compared to current GCD ridden retail on wow.
SO MANY QUESTS. SO MUCH TEXT. I like a good mix but I felt like it was spend a way reading the first few quests I got or just skip skip skip and kill the things. Way more than WoW. I’m sure lore is great but I couldn’t bear to delve into it
The raids felt too scripted. Very artsy and cool but ultimately better to do once and then move on.
A little too much anime cuteness Animal people and lounging in main cities. Housing also in the game huge plus but behind abysmal cost and Restrictions.
I can see the appeal for some but I generally hated it.
Or…just get an apartment in the meantime?
Its not even that weeb or weeb at all lol.
