I really really really really really really really HATE Anduin

no your not really sorry.

im out of this one.

I was having a conversation with my straight female friend last night about men in romance novels. Very emotionally in tune alpha males who save themselves for fmc and aren’t like most irl men. The fantasy of it. She thinks men who are that outwardly emotional irl seem feminine, or crazy. I don’t date men so I haven’t thought about it much. There seems to be a wall that men “shouldn’t” cross irl to be considered masculine men. And I wonder if overly identifying with the men in the game is why some of the guys are having a stroke over anduin being like a romance novel character. His archetype is common in women’s fiction.

Human nature is to corrupt the systems around them. It’s always going to be the case and ironically why the grass will never be greener no matter what system we choose.

There will be times of prosperity and times of collapse. Through all kingdoms, empires, and forms of governance. It’s always a matter of time.

I also believe barring nuclear war we are past that stage. I dont ever really see humans being put back into a position where this would occur.

However if push comes to shove if you are totally incapable of fighting for what you need you will die.

Like i said though that would have to be very dire situations.

the fact that you can seemingly only conceive of two extremes instead of the actual fact of the matter tells me all i need to know about your ability to construct a cogent or coherent perspective.

It’s not a “my” problem. It’s a human nature problem. No one wants to read a story like that. It’s usually written by someone pretends that what they are writing is going to earn some kind of award. You want to do emotional arcs, keep it small and keep it in the background. You think Odysseus wasn’t emotional about being away from his family, losing his men, and trying to get back home despite the Gods throwing all their hate at him? He likely did have periods where he cried, but the story didn’t focus on that because that isn’t his heroic traits. Even his flaws had him cursing at the gods, but still going forward.

Cool so youd let your own child starve.

If it was a situation where i couldn’t reason with them you damn well better belive id take that persons life to keep my child alive.

None of us will thankfully ever need to do this.

Well he was Golden’s lovechild…

…woops.

I meant brainchild.

He likes to replenish with Morning Glory Dew.

The trope of the failed white savior is generally unpopular with mainstream audiences.

Star Wars, and what Disney did to Luke Skywalker, is a prime example of this. What Blizzard has done to Anduin reeks of a second-rate attempt to do the same.

People don’t claim Sylvanas being ruined is a “woke” thing. You can thank Afrasiabi for that & he intentionally destroyed her character.

I am not sure, I’ve been married for 15 years and I can bawl my eyes out in front of my wife and she’s hasn’t thought any less of me for it.

It was especially rough when my dad died 3 years ago. At that point I could definitely relate to Anduin’s tale, even as a 40+ year old man.

he got flagged because he dislike anduin? this community is wild with false reports

I like it.

So you’re objectively wrong.

Great, we found another fanfic shojo fan!

tbh the issue w/ anduin isn’t displaying feelings. it’s that the writing is just bad. crap pacing, nonexistent stakes, and a pretty clear utilitarian bent to the arc all just make him look uninteresting. what’s the point in caring for his concerns when they’ll be pep-talked out of him in just one zone? remember mists, when anduin’s character wasn’t an afterthought?

…but did you do alot of crying in the courtship period? Just curious.

It’s not fanfic if it’s actually in the game and canon.

Lol!

Anduin is weak and most likely how it ends for him.

I think there’s a bit disconnect between macho men who play COD and call people burning bundles of sticks, and the average person. I forget sometimes the demographics of wow and how a lot of posters seem to have a fragile masculinity that hinges on wows characters trying to minimize their own insecurities. Which is why you have the “garrosh did nothing wrong” ilk. It’s also why a lot hate sylvanas. They can’t handle that a female character was much stronger and better than any of the male characters.
