My wife has never expressed interest in World of Warcraft, which is fine. So I play with my step kids. But, last night she wanted to give it a try and found the quest text too small to read due to her poor eye sight. She already has powerful glasses.
I want my wife to play with me, I want to give her this chance. If there is an addon, please tell me. Also, I used to raid years ago, but I am a casual now, so something simple so I can install it.
She had such a good time creating a character. She can move around and kill stuff, but she is an intellectual. She needs bigger quest text to fully enjoy the game. Without the story, I fear she will not continue. I want to remove this obstacle so that there is nothing in the way of her enjoyment.
By the way, OP, Immersion is pretty good for reading text. You can make the window bigger, I think. You can click the box to read the next page or have it progress automatically. It’s a neat addon for those who like to read through quests and whatnot.
There’s several addons mentioned in this thread from a while back that also asks for bigger text to read.
That OP found one that worked for them, but didn’t mention which it was. Perhaps your wife will also find something to make the font sizes readable for her from there.
Heh. As someone who occasionally dabbles in Runescape, I can’t imagine WoW’s text being too small to read. Runescape makes me realize my vision isn’t as good as it was when I was 10. Freaking text for ants.
You can change the font, too. Original font is kinda thin. I love story but immersion was just not my type.
I prefer reading all the text at once. If she likes reading, font can be important. I’m using Comic Sans Bold. Want to use more… angular font but couldn’t find it. All the other bold fonts I have worked weird in wow
Well, I was dating someone in the 6th grade who played WoW. But Apparently my best friend played and when we went to her house she forced me to watch what she wanted to show me which was the release of wotlk and my best friend the night prior had discovered the playthrough for the Death Knights and then after school made me look when i wanted to play sims and we didn’t get to have mainly her computer time as we had strong social lives and only one of us was committed. I had bought the game because of my then boyfriend. I watched my best friend make a Death Knight and the way the game was basically like complete control over the world around you and also dope caught my interest. I ended up playing from then on and yeah.
As a female who initally showed the level of interest in WoW where I wasn’t up for it and the only thing that got me to watch her play was the fact that i couldn’t make any excuse to get out of it. Even my mom who is an Ivy league extremely educated MFT Psychotherapist that was someone who people like recommended and she came from parents that didn’t even finish High school and her and her brother were the first in their family to go to college and so her mom was one who enforced the “don’t do this or that, if you show being too smart no one will want to marry you” and then rooting for her brothers success.
Basically my great grandparents on my moms side kept their family in an Italian bubble. So, my mom is not a stick-up-her-butt intellectual because she married my dad which broke at her shielding a personality and sense of humor. My mom is literally super interested in world of warcraft after i finally got her to sit and shut up and watch and listen.
In the big picture, your wife is either never going to be interested in WoW or you can find a part of the game that you think is something she specifically has an interest in and that will likely hold her attention after you get it. Also when you think you found the proper content she would like, make sure to change the UI scale so she can’t even use the excuse of the tiny text.
That method so far worked on both me and my mom. I went from like more normal teenage female that started to play directly after wotlk launched and i was 12 and I’m 24 now and still playing. So hope that is helpful.
PS. if you want to give me any crap over the fact i ended up typing a bit more than normal and have reasons for distraction and don’t find a point to bother to shorten it for those of you who struggle with 1st grade reading norms. Just saying. Idgaf. so don’t bother.
I honestly wish I could help but even I am having trouble convincing my SO to join as well. It was first non of the races really appealed to her or fit her personality, now she say it is merely the graphics.
