Because we see none of it. The best thing about legions story telling was it was all “show don’t tell”. It showed you the legion was intimidating immediately killing the alliance and horde leaders, they had taken over entire zones. There were thousands of them everywhere on the broken shore.
There was no “this does nothing to change my plan, I will run away and you won’t get me next time!”
It’s just so lame for players to be given the story piecemeal like this.
People do see Legion with rose-colored glasses. They remember 7.2/7.3 Legion, not 7.0/7.1 Legion with the legendary lottery and people rerolling because they got the wrong ones. So it ended well but there were lots of problems at the start.
But at this point, I miss DF. Why?
It’s not fun to play tank in queued content (including TW);
TW tuning is busted where you get two-shot by trash (as a non-tank);
The whole 200 badge thing was a change nobody asked for nor needed. I say this as someone unaffected (~300K badges);
Nerfing Longstrider, which was nice for farming legacy content (BFA and earlier obviously). Remix has shown that it doesn’t matter if people run around at 200% speed. Just let us;
Nerfing Speed (again);
WQ rewards giving random stats. I so enjoy all the Vers/Mastery gear I got as a BM Hunter;
My preferred spec (BM Hunter) got nerfed into oblivion in prepatch randomly. No I don’t care about single-target damage and even if you do, it’s getting nerfed to “pay” for the AE damage boost come 11.0.5 (based on latest builds);
Because of the spec nerf everything just feels like it’s more tedious than it should be. Everything is a chore now. Did I mention I miss Remix?
The 70-80 TW XP nerf is just horrendous;
Scaling TW dungeons to your level (in 11.0.5) has completely destroyed a community of people who spent time farming TW gear. For fun, basically. This didn’t hurt anyone and 11.0.5 will completely destroy it. So that 10-30s can queue TW. I’d rather not have that;
PREDICTION: TW in 11.0.5 is going to be so busted with XP-locked twinks.
TWW WQs are so much worse than anything in the last 4 expansions (other than the BFA turtle WQs). So many have you competing for groudn spawns or mobs with really low respawns. So many of them don’t give you group credit either if you happen to want to do activities with someone.
Renown just seems like so much more of a grind. I honestly didn’t like this change in DF and preferred the SL Renown system;
Underground. Ugh. I hate the aesthetic.
I don’t like any of the weekly activities. Like at all. DF did such a better job here.
This is rapidly turning into a Remix waiting room for me. Bring on 11.2 Legion Remix.
Honestly I even enjoyed early legion more than this. Outside of the top mythic guilds, getting a worse legendary wasn’t really that much of an issue. The fact that it could come from anywhere gave INSANE hype when one dropped. You were excited doing something and just seeing that golden dragon pop up.
For the average player, this was the coolest way legendaries have been done. Not some massive gold sink, welfare legendary that everyone eventually has to get because they’re all tuned around it like we saw in DF.
As for Vers… remove Vers… enough said. If your spec likes vers, it means your other stats are so useless that the only that helps you is a small damage and health increase.
Renown is definitely worse than SL, and the rewards are just ALL GEAR related. Like those could be a bonus, but why is there such little fantasy, basically no renown questlines? Its hard to believe im praising shadowlands for this, but it was much better in that regard. The activities were more fun and built out as well.
And yes the weekly activities are really lame here, I already don’t want to do them. The soup was actually fun. The theater is cringe, the objectives are lame.
PvP templates were amazing to just PLAY pvp. I honestly believe they need to remove vers, and bring back PvP templates, with PvP gear just being the way to scale up ilvl easiest in PvP. If you’re high ilvl from PvE you should be able to enter PvP too.
If you consider that Dragonflight was just the prologue for the world soul saga, it makes sense. Looking back at it now, everything in df was leading us to the world soul saga. Also I don’t think blizzard could’ve made a worse end raid cinematic than the Amdrissil one. It’s like they didn’t even try.
+1 brother. Legion was something else. One of the best expansions ever, definetly the best moder one for sure. The story, the content, Suramar, class halls, artifacts, OG bosses and characters…heck even Sargeras, introduction of m+.
And on top of all of this, ive got to play the best designed and most fun pve raid spec ive ever played in this game by far only challenged by its bfa iteration…shadow priest, with the coolest artifact of them all (not visualy…visualy it was very mid)
Cannot wait for the classic version, but it wont be the same anyway.
They should put in the work again and go deep into the class fantasy…class halls, class campaigns, huge class overhauls and most importantly artifact weapons with polished AP leveling, huge amount of apearances as rewards for varios stuff etc etc.
Class halls felt good other than the facebook game tables.
M+ wasn’t 100% a requirement, you could still entirely ignore it and it didn’t get in the way of raiding as nothing was being tuned for groups in full M+ gear by week 2 yet.
Artifact power in patch 1 was kinda messy but they fixed that pretty quick.
Artifact weapons felt like you actually had a goal at all levels of play to work towards with their talent trees and gems.
The zones felt more immersive and somehow bigger even though scale isn’t much different.
People wanted to see the story, not just skip it as a rule as it was interesting.
Everything since has been… M+ first, everything else second, no class fantasy at all (unless you counting a few slap dash cosmetic options), Story has been going downhill (BFA did okay, but was overshadowed by bad systems), and raiding since legion has been relegated to “Anything under mythic raids are now worthless, go do M+”.
Because it’s true. We need more badass male characters. They’ve gotten rid of ALL of them. Why can’t a traditionally masculine man be in world of Warcraft anymore?
Liking a class does not mean you have to like an expansion. I love Rogue but I’ll eat my own feet before I go grind my life away in Classic again.
And I deny your class fantasy, it is not undeniable. I enjoyed the classes being actual separate things like they were in TBC instead of a congealed mess of “Who got Lust/Heroism?” and “Who got battle rez?”. Class fantasy has been dead, for me, for a long time. That’s why I RP, I don’t gotta hope some Blizz coder decides to ruin Combat even further by pushing Outlaw.
But in the end, this is a subjective thing. Your counter is as poorly written as Illidan’s lore in Legion.
