I loved the resounding silence at Earthen Allied race

I get a lot of flak because I legitimately think the male Kul Tiran model is way better than the standard Human male.

I would love to get playable Vrykul. They’re the only race that would immediately become my main. I’ve been playing a Kul Tiran Warrior in Remix since it’s the closest I can get, but man… I’d race change in a heartbeat if I could be a Vrykul. They just speak to my Germanic heritage.

Same. At least with them, you clearly know what they’re based on. With the new Night Elf reskin, however, one wonders if some dev put too much thought into what the offspring of Night Elves and Quilboars would look like.

At the end of their dungeon there is this backdrop of a massive cavern with what looks like lights off in the distance. Not sure of anything official though.

Naga would be such a cool race. I was bummed when I learned they weren’t playable at the time WoW launched after they were such a crucial part of Warcraft 3’s Frozen Throne campaign, and you got to play as them during the campaign for a couple of missions. They even had their own base structures. (I liked the myrmidon unit in particular.) I still want them playable to this day.

Hm… It could have worked as a tie-in if they had given more confirmation they had more holdings under ground.

There’s a whole naga thread that needs as many people posting in it as possible. If you like the Naga, please do consider posting.

Like, I dont know if its just creative freedom on why they went with earthern and harronir, or if they did it just because its basically no dev time to out armor on them since their reg and everything else is so tightly based on an existing race.

This is also why I believe nerubians will become playable either late xpac or the xpac after warwithin, they took this awesome spider race, shrank them and made them human esque and boring.

No spider mouth, really simplified design, not even a spider mouth.

No spider mouth.

Why human shape the pinnacle of evolution in wow?

Because it’s a low effort content creation. The most daring they have ever done to the playable races is to make Kul Tiran something special and nobody plays them.

I mean… sure it was daring, but also stupid. Anyone with a brain knew no one was going to play fat humans.

You really have to wonder why they even bothered putting resources into it in the first place. The same goes for Diaper Gnomes. Normal gnomes are already barely played, and then they introduce something that’s somehow even uglier by several magnitudes? It really feels like a troll move from the devs.

I think this is where creative freedom comes in, Kul tiras is obviously human centric.

I don’t believe they were trying to purposely gas light fans, they just wanted to tell a story of these places and for said places races to also join us eventually.

But with creative freedom comes risks, Sometimes you lose, sometimes you win.

Some have suggested they work with a template of races ppl like and than make a story around that, but that already hinders creative freedom.

This is why Vulpera exist! They wanted to use an existing base (Goblins) and alter the active / idle animations when necessary. Which begs the question why they developed this newer mishmash method for playable characters only to implement… Dwarves, again. Lol.

I think they went with Earthen as a playable race due to the world they wanted to make for the expansion.
They knew they wanted to go off to an Earthen settlement and have the capital city there.

So if they had these earthen who they were making anyways, why not let the players have them too.

I think you are missing my point.

Blast’s post, to me, seems to be saying she thinks the devs are throwing up their hands and saying “Hey man! We tried being daring and putting effort into designing the game and new races and it didn’t work out well, so we are playing it safe!”

I am saying that can’t be valid unless the devs are truly, monumentally, frustratingly stupid. They can not be afraid of making daring choices due to people not being enthusiastic to a daring choice they had to have known wouldn’t have appealed to the vast majority.

That’s not just a risk they took. That was practically a certainty. I don’t know that they are purposely avoiding daring choices, let alone why they are. But if they are, and it’s because of stuff like Kul’tirans? Then they are utterly incompetent.

As for creative freedom being hindered… that’s kinda the nature of the beast. Creative freedom, hell, ALL freedom needs to be tempered by certain considerations. WoW is a product that they want to sell. As such they do have to be aware of the impact their choices will have on the desirability of said product. That’s not to say creative freedom should yield entirely to the tastes of your audience, but your audience does need to be considered, and paid close attention to.

I’ve been dying to make my warlock an Ogre for sooooo long.

Our two communities, both Naga, and Ogre enjoyers, have both been sorely neglected by this company. It’s almost criminal, really.

My hope is, using dracthyr as an example, is that Blizz is holding out on some things to release with future patches instead. Like with a 3rd entire spec added to the game half way through, instead of unloading everything at the start. And if so, I think that is smarter. It’s more fun to receive these cool feature things throughout the life of the expansion rather all at start and half finished like the legion allied races.

But that’s just a hope.

There are so many wishes that players have been expressing for a really long time.
But no.
Dwarves.
For the third time.
Something absolutely no one asked for.

Not absolutely no one. There were in fact people who used to ask for Earthen. Mechagnomes too.

The issue is pandering to those people before a majority of reasonable people who care about the game and it’s lore… was just such a stupid idea.

Yeah… I suppose the handful of players who think this shouldn’t just be a simple customization option, but rather presented as a brand-new race as an expansion feature, will be happy.
It’s not like there have been numerous request threads for years with many supporters.
It’s also quite noticeable that the criticism of Dwarves 3.0 is getting more support than Blizzard’s official announcement thread about the race. Not to mention the embarrassing performance at Blizzcon

I guess this low-budget race will at least be played more than Diaper Gnomes and overweight humans, because at least the Horde gets a new model, but it’s already foreseeable that it will be one of those races that hardly anyone will touch. Once again, money wasted by Blizzard, thinking they know better than the players.

I’ll give this a push because, since TWW is around the corner and it’s still ridiculous to present a cheap third Dwarf copy as a new race and expansion feature.
And when you look at the comments on the pre patch, this extremely lazy “new race” confirms the quality or rather the lack thereof, that can be expected from TWW.
