I paid thousands and thousands of gold between WotLK and Mists (when gold was worth a lot more than it is now) to fly on all my alts but you don’t see me telling everyone now to pay thousands of gold because I had to. You don’t see me asking for my gold back. Times changed, things evolved. People got flying in those expansions free. Why is this so special?

I’ll never be able to fly in WoD either. Wasn’t here for the end of that expansion and I’m not about to spend my time farming old rep to get it. Let me know when we can buy WoD flying for gold, Blizz.

Who got flying for free? No one. Your own anecdotal recollection establishes that fact.
It’s not free and never has been. It used to cost both time and in-game gold; now it costs time and a willingness to play according to someone else’s agenda.
Okay, you’re obviously not the target audience for WoW anymore. You don’t like Anything and you barely log in…so why are you in this thread arguing for paid flying?
This game is still good enough and has enough things to do for me to keep playing. I do a lot of those things you poo’d on. As does millions of other players.
So stay on ESO and forget WoW. If you can’t stomach logging in, then don’t.
Come back when you can see this game without that bitterness and clouded anger. Most of all, stop posting in the forums…it just exacerbates your mad.

Except that achievement actually has a mount tied to it, so you get quite a bit for completing it.

It is a sad state of affairs when a few bits and bytes makes you feel special or you actually accomplished something. To your argument I could say all raid s need to go back to 40 man since I had to do them in the day to get my legendary weapon all players should have to go do a 40 man. More so opening the Gates of AQ , all players should have to farm to open dungeons at all. How about outlands all players should have to battle the dark portal before entering. what about mounts at 20 because I had to wait until 40 , all players should have to wait.
The argument presented is that of prepubescent children trying to manipulate parents against one another.

Leave the Rep and the exploration from old/expired content PF go ahead an remove the quests lines especially dungeons that require a group that will never form.

Please do not presume to dictate to me or to assume how I feel. I am neither bitter nor angry. I just don’t like the state of the game.
And fyi I would buy expansions and in-store items again if flight was available throughout the expansion (like it used to be before Team Fumble took over) and if I could get it at max level for a gold license. Why? Because over the years I have invested hundreds of hours, lots of effort and sometimes real money for flying mounts and in acquiring the flight skill on most of my 48 toons. If and when I buy expansion/DLC material, I expect to be able to use these from the time I complete the content to max level.
Instead, you now have to do a tiresome list of chores and even when you complete them you still can’t fly because flight is time-locked. This is a deal-killer for me.
As I mentioned, I used to love playing old content but the changes made to leveling and loot options make that an unworthy investment of time. I still do play BGs but solely for the fun because there is no reward.
You mischaracterize my very specific criticism of several gaming aspects as “anger” or “bitterness” when really, all I am is a paying customer who objects to these specific game changes. And no, I’m not alone, as evidenced by the many similar posts on these forums.
And thank you very much, but I will continue to read and post on the forums as I see fit. You are free not to read anything I do post, but that would be on you.

I was obviously referring to the way things were before, not the way things are now. No apology necessary, none given.
But… but… if you havent played those expacs then it is new content for you. Since 8.1, its now even easier to get pathfinder done.
Personally, they should have both options: pathfinder and gold.
Im leveling my 4th toon through Legion now and its soooo much easier with flying.
WoW used to keep people subbed by providing a great quality game that people enjoyed and kept wanting to come back to. Now they use cheap time gates and other hallow attempts to keep players trapped and don’t allow them to control their own progression, which then keeps them subbed. Why are you accepting lesser quality in game content such as time gates to keep you subbed when before it was great, fulfilling content that kept people around.

Flying is one of the easiest things to get in the game, just like rep.
It just takes a bit of time.
If you want the things you associate with flying, it is worth it.
I got Draenor flying in Legion, since Legion was so easy (for that kind of stuff) that I got bored with it. After some quest work, reading summaries to do the smallest amount of quest which were needed for the achievement, it was just 65 K worth of Medallion of the Legion. I did Draenor flight casually, in under two weeks.
If the new or returning player wants to do stuff in that area, it is worth it. It is also way easier than it was back in the day, when it was time gated and way slower.
I’m the opposite of the OP, I guess. I actually enjoy the parts of the game which I can just go out and “get”, totally solo and whenever I feel like it. That is my thing.
Besides Draenor flying, I also got both water strider mounts in Legion (also casually, just kind of “whenever”.) Boy, Legion had some “lulls” I took advantage of.
