Keybind the toggle visage form?
Exactly!!! This is why I always wished Moonkin Form was cosmetic like Treant Form is for Restoration. The only thing you could say for Balance Druid needing Moonkin Form would be that Elune blessed and powered up Moonkins which makes Balance Druid’s spellcasting more powerful (from a lore standpoint). But like… that was all the way back in flippin’ Vanilla WoW when we were plebian adventurers.
All I get when I read your post is: if you personally don’t like how a class form looks, it should be changed and the people against you are wrong. If you do like how a class form or just class in general looks: it’s shouldn’t be changed and the people against you are wrong.
Please just take a second and realize your dislike of the Moonkin form is the same thing that people have a problem with with the Dracthyr form? You can RP about “draconic powers” and class fantasy all you like - it really comes down to visual options and expression of how people play their class. The OPTIONAL changes I proposed still have plenty of Dragon form in them - no one is going to confuse who or what you are because you are only in Dragon form some of the time…
But it actually isn’t, and I explained why in this post.
Also this,
I would like to add what you guys are asking for (perma-Visage Evoker) is similar to asking for Feral Druids and Guardian Druids to be able to fight in human/elf forms instead of Cat or Bear respectively.
I would be wholly against making Cat Form or Bear From optional on Druid, because it makes ZERO sense for an elf. I would be more inclined to let Worgen fight in their base Worgen forms for Feral though! It’s fine for Moonkin Form to be optional/cosmetic in my eyes because powerful spell casting in the way that Balance Druids cast spells doesn’t inherently require being a moonchicken to cast them.
We see Tyrande and other Priestesses of the Moon casting Balance Druid-like spells all the time, and they never have to shapeshift for that. Balance Druid is a mix of Druid and Priestess of Elune, well it’s the closest we have in game anyway.
but its not. your argument would only work in the early days of wow where there was 1 single bear form and cat form. as we have many there is room for picking what you like or what you would want to be seen as. the same for evokers would be multiple dragon forms to pick from.
The difference being that all of those other druid forms are still Cat and Bear forms. there is no Night Elf or Troll form where a Druid could tank or do Melee DPS in their standard form.
What perma-visage Evoker fans are advocating for would be the equivalent of a NE Druid tanking outside of Bear form as a Night Elf in their transmog armor. Druids wouldn’t go for that, which is why Evoker players aren’t going for perma-visage.
I’m not referring to the customization discrepancies between Dracthyr and Bear and Cat forms. I realize that’s what you’re stuck on but I’m talking about RPG elements here. For example, a Night Elf isn’t going to Ferocious Bite someone, Cat Form is going to be the obvious form for that spell (ability). I yield that it makes sense for a Worgen to Ferocious Bite someone, so I couldn’t care less if Worgen gained the ability to play Feral spec without requiring Cat Form.
Same as Dracthyr Evokers using Deep Breath to fly over the enemy and breathe draconic fire on them. The human and elf Visage forms are not adequate in an RPG sense enough for me to be okay with Evoker having perma-Visage.
so have them pop back in for deep breath and fire breath and then right back out.
Kind of ironically, Monk basically cemented itself as “the pandaren class” despite its universality; most pandaren player characters are monks and most monks are pandaren and it’s not even close. Even minor things like having access to their hometown only as a monk works to reinforce this
The excuse for this is always “but some dragons do things in visage” (which usually happens to match powers on the evoker list that are also usable in visage for the player) so riddle me this: how many dragons change mid combat except to drop the visage as an escalation?
deep breath and fire breath. nothing else would have a change
Because its only fixing one part of the visuals and not adjusting the rest. How long do I have to wait for full-mogging and additional accessories for Dragon-form to finally be up to par with the rest of the races, 5-8 years? When I’m in a retirement home, or when I’m already six feet under?
They’re band-aid fixes that do not help alleviate the current aesthetic problems and present a worrying trend of favoritism that will lead to abandonment. That is why there is opposition, it is why I’m opposed to it at this point in time.
Dream flight, dream breath, disintegrate, etc
If they could just add full tmogs to drachtyr form I’d be happy. I can understand if they don’t do capes because of our wings but the rest, there’s not much of an excuse.
That will require effort and blizzard doesn’t really like doing that, so I’d take DH style switching backing and forth between visage and drachtyr as a lazy substitute.
And my 100% greedy option that’s not needed at all I just want it, I want to be able to choose my visage form from the races I have unlocked.
They’re not going to drop the current visage forms because it would both piss off a lot of players and require heavy retooling and they’re definitely not going to do something as lazy as just letting visage be a free race change.
My prediction is if any race gets added to the bases it’s going to be heavily tweaked like the current models, to match, for example, Merithra and Ysera’s visages (much as the base visages are obviously inspired by Wrathion, Kalecgos and Alexstrasza in many ways)
Yes, they shift because they are humanoids, not demons, so we are dragons who shift in humanoid form, and our regular form is a dragon form.
This confuses me. Balance can cast spells out of chicken form, but then they don’t get their buff. So being balance does require chicken form or that ugly glyph thing.
i forgot about dream flight and breath. let me reword it all deep breath like abilities since breath of eons exist and fire breath like which would cover dream breath. disintegrate idc about. it could come from my foot for all i care
A buff can be baked into the class in numerous ways. You have to change animations and thematics to have a non-dragon performing draconic abilities like Deep Breath, Disintegrate, Pyre, Fire Breath, etc.

They stated this doesn’t apply to evokers
Due to them like channeling dragon magic and using dragon spells

Which is silly. It’s a fantasy video game. The “dragon magic” restriction can be lifted with a simple retcon and is only limited by the devs imagination and neglect for community feedback(well, half the community at least. The other half is deciding to morally grandstand and get angry even though the change wouldn’t affect them in the slightest. What a weird hill for them to die on lol).
