Lol I’ve been unable to access the forums in a week (trying to report a bug the GMs cant fix). The forums tell me I’m not subscribed but I’m playing the game as we speak. Now the GMs are telling me to go to the forums to solve my problem of not being able to go to the forums.
No one told me I could talk on the customer support forums regardless of my sub status until I went to MMO-Champion and a nice person revealed this to me.
So where do we go from here? Am I just unable to talk on the forums forever now? We exhausted every single troubleshooting tip they gave me. I even changed my password. Forums don’t work on any device.
Thank you guys for any help you can give me. This has been so frustrating.
It is true that the GMs can not do anything with the forum software. The forum software is not updating your account status correctly - but that is not something CS can help with.
The only option is the usual troubleshooting to kick the forums into updating your account info - which you seem to have done.
Posting on one of the Support forums for some reason can also kick the forum software to update.
It is not something any staff have control over or can manually fix for you.
This is beyond frustrating. I know this may seem petty, but forums access is literally part of my sub. I feel cheated right now. I keep getting boilerplate responses from GMs. They have no ability to escalate this issue to anyone who could fix it.
And the whole reason I was trying to use the forums was to report ANOTHER bug the GMs could not help me fix after hours of trying.
Of course now I realize the support forums are an exception. Glad I can talk here, at least. But still, I hope my frustration is understandable.
I’m not seeing anything that would normally prevent posting, Zilidar.
Pretty sure you can post in the bugs forum without a sub (being that is the error), I know absolutely you can here - and in game bug reports.
You do have a sub, aren’t actioned here, don’t appear to have parental controls.
Just to correct a very common misconception. While it does require a sub to post in most of our forums - that’s not really ‘part’ of your sub, it’s a perk. If the forums disappeared tomorrow, it wouldn’t impact the price of a sub whatsoever.
I know this must be frustrating, but I’d keep trying periodically - including logging fully out and into the forums. Most oddities here eventually correct themselves.
So why can’t I talk on the other forums and what will Blizzard do about it? Thanks! It’s been a week so I don’t know what more waiting will accomplish <3
I’m going to delete what I originally said about this because I don’t want you to think I’m coming after you. But…yeah that’s a very convenient policy for Blizzard, and adds another point of deep, deep frustration with how players are treated in the game we pay for.
They couldn’t find a solution after a week of trying. And they told me to come here for a solution.
I don’t know, Zilidar. There are some bugs with the forums that they are working to address - but whether this is directly related, even that I don’t know.
That’s always been the stance regarding the forums and I’m closing in on 18 years on them.
The forums didn’t exist until sometime after the game launched, so they quite literally were never a part of the subscription fee. They’ve always been a perk, never a policy.
And as further mentioned, the support category of forums are the exception to that perk, one is generally able to post in them without an active license.
As for your specific scenario, the best you can probably do for the time being is to maybe also bring awareness in the Website Bug Report forum, if you’re able.
I’m not saying the stance has changed, friend. I’m saying it’s a very convenient stance that only benefits Blizzard by allowing them to make us pay for access to something but take no responsibility for when it breaks.
But I really dont wanna fight over this since I know you’re trying to help, so let’s move on <3
Anyway,
What can we do from here? What are the next steps to get this resolved? Is there anything else I can do besides waiting for something to change?
As for these known bugs within the forums, how do I get this added to the list of known bugs so this can eventually get solved? I thought that was what I was already doing by submitting bug reports, opening tickets, and talking on the forums.
Edit: OMG a GM is finally talking to me and it’s not a bot! Let’s see if we can get this fixed!
So far, it only seems broken for you unfortunately. They could simply shut down the forum completely and you’d be out nothing financially. None of us would.
Orlyia already told you that your best option is to keep trying from day-to-day and be sure that you’re logging completely out of the forum and back in again.
/sigh
GMs do not have control over the forums unfortunately. In fact, the forum software is not created by Blizzard either. There’s really not a lot of troubleshooting that they can offer beyond logging out and back in a bunch.
Additionally, all GMs are human. None of them are ‘bots’.
Sorry I should have phrased that another way. Using template responses, perhaps? They just apologized to me for repeating the same troubleshooting tips over and over, so I was trying to be charitable by assuming I was talking to a bot.
Not sure why this is necessary. I’m sorry that you’re frustrated with me but I hope you can understand why I am, too.
I guess I was just hoping there were any other options aside from re-logging and waiting after I waited for a week. I’m not used to problems being this unsolvable in other CS settings, so apologies if I’m just experiencing culture shock with the way Blizzard does things.
I’m sorry if I’ve annoyed you. This is not my intent. I’m just a player upset that I don’t have access to something I should have access to. Is that a better way of putting it?
What’s especially odd is that I can’t access the forums on any device, so I don’t know how it could be related to my cache or cooking or PC. But I tried that stuff anyway and nothing worked.
