Yeah, this doesn’t prevent massive cross gold wealth transfers because the people with that amount of money can afford alt accounts via WoW tokens to begin with.
This just stops casual players like me who want to be able to transfer spending money and items to off realm alts.
If it worked that way on the PTR, and it doesn’t on the live servers…well, then it’s either bugged or they changed their minds. Guess we’ll find out soon enough which one it is.
It tells you that they still aren’t ready to rollout the whole cross region trading (very likely to introduce mail heuristic tracking).
In person trades operate off the assumption that you have a reason to do trading with that character because of prior interaction or “scratch my back I scratch yours”. RMT operations are not likely to just waltz up to you and just give you millions, especially when it can be tracked that neither character or especially neither account had never made prior content (say for something like they do in classic with gdkp, aka here’s your cut).
Mind boggling that they’re not allowing mailing to your alts on different servers nor finishing connecting all the auction houses for all categories, as the way it stands now for an extra sub per month it’s now unlocked some pretty powerful ways to make gold.
