I love final fantasy, but it’s a very different game than WoW.
WoW doesn’t have as many races, but even with allied races, they are more diverse and interesting than FFXIV can ever be. Also final fantasy may always get a new race class, but every Blackmage plays exactly the same. There are no talents, no specs, no variations. I know ffxiv combat is apparently harder when it comes to raids (Claimed by some), but I find WoW classes more complex and interesting, with more unique and fun mechanics, including personal cds.
WOW is a great game for content, raiding, dungeons ect. It has more unique and fun mechanics imo, and it’s classes are fast and smooth to play, while also be interesting with a lot more variation.
FFXIV is great to enjoy story in and get immersed in the world. It’s casual elements and world content are vast. There’s actually so much in ffxiv I haven’t even done or unlocked and I’ve played for about …13? Years? (I joined before Heavensward) Simply because there’s more to do and unlock on a casual level.
They’re not really comparable games, to me. It’s totally fair that someone would hate it. But as a nerd like myself, I genuinely love both for different reasons and couldn’t pick a favorite.
I can’t either. The classes feel slow and the game just feels like a bigger version of MG. Not to mention, the races in FFXIV are so uninspired. We’ve seen catgirls enough, we don’t need 10 races with different ears to call them something different.
The implications for class balance grow exponentially every time a new class is added, dramatically increasing the complexity and workload of balancing classes and how those classes perform in end-game content.
Maybe that doesn’t matter so much for the people who are always playing the new class or always chasing the FOTM class, but there are still a lot of us who primarily play one class, are heavily invested in it, and want to make sure class balance is maintained going forward.
i feel like wow has much better overworld content to do but other than that i enjoy the content xiv has much more
8man blows 20/30/etc man raiding out of the water
little to no barrier of entry to endgame content (hit cap and buy gear off the marketboard and you can do extremes and savage, ultimate requires the completion of the raid tier of the patch its released in)
great soundtrack compared to the nothing that is wow’s
xiv makes even dungeons into a visual spectacle loaded with plenty of cool vfx whereas wow dungeons and raids are as visually interesting as paint dry
i definitely appreciate the more realistic way characters in xiv look compared to the disney/pixar look they went with in wow during wod
Every single time. It’s like they cannot stand that FFXIV exists alongside WoW and they have to run to their safe space to talk about how much they hate that game because they know a lot of people here will blindly agree with them.
I did the main story , i looked it up on google said i needed to goto to some city to unlock it which i didnt know how to get to, not sure why basic game functions needs unlocking in the fist place lol
Going to preface this post by saying this is all in my own personal opinion.
Seeing BeastMaster announced as a Limited Class has pretty much killed any interest I had in the game.
I really don’t like the whole concept of Limited Classes at all, and to see a class that I consider my favorite fantasy class in general being relegated to a gimmick that can’t be utilized past a certain point of the game, let alone not being able to be played to end game of any future expansions, just put a huge sour taste in my mouth and sealed the deal that I will never play FFXIV.
I did see some mentions that they might be reconsidering their stance of not adding any more playable races, which would be good if true since the playable race selection is really banal and could use more variety in my own personal opinion, but even if they added Bangaa, my most wanted playable race for that game, I feel like it’s too little too late for me with the whole BeastMaster announcement. Even then, it’s questionable of whether they would add in more unique races like Hrothgar or if they’d just take humans with animal features stapled onto them.
If you like the game, more power to you. It’s just not my cup of tea and the more I look at it, the more disappointed I get with it and the various decisions made.
I didnt say i hated it, i thot it was good kinda, but its kind confusing , like the map is confusing as hell , quest objectives where to go are not easy to follow, the combat is based on combos lol
