For me, it’s the ugly uncanny valley artstyle that made me drop it before I could even give it a proper chance
I will never understand the appeal of that Square Enix aesthetic. It’s like knives in my eyeballs.
For me I can’t even consider it as most the characters are ugly humans and when I play a fantasy game I don’t like playing boring ugly humans. Other races are okay but not enough to convince me to try it…also…do they still not got moogles as playable characters?
I’m sorry to everyone who likes FF14 but the ONLY FF game I’d care to play atm is a remastered Final Fantasy tactics. Better yet remaster it and give a port of it to switch but yeah no FF14 is not a game I’m interested in. I’d play 7-10 repeatedly and still never consider 14
the new classes usually present a whole slew of new balance issues…prior to shadowbringers they always underperformed severely at release, and as far as the new races i mean how many flavors of human with animal ears/tails/horns do you want…granted i have enjoyed that game a whole lot more hten wow in recent years but that has everything to do with the quality(or lack there of) of bfa and SL(also why i’m jsut now starting DF in the last 10 days) then anything else it still at its core is jsut an eastern wow clone
So much is locked behind story in that game. It absolutely sucked. At max level when we were running things like Bozja/Zadnor or Eureka Orthos we had to tell newcomers “Hey sorry you can’t play with us because you HAVE to go through 4-5 expansions worth of story in order to open up the content we’re doing.” That’s over 100 hours of story and cutscenes/gameplay, it’s completely idiotic.
Like imagine if you wanted to raid in WoW’s current expac but first you had to do every major quest in every single expansion prior and run the raids.
When I first started during ARR’s open beta, I fell in love with it. That didn’t change a whole lot until Endwalker, when the quality went downhill super fast. Now? I haven’t actually played for a couple of months, and I’m not even remotely excited about Dawntrail. SE is a terrible company nowadays and has been for a while. I’m not saying that Blizzard is any better in that regard, but I still find reasons to log into WoW and enjoy myself. I actually have things to do and goals to strive for.
