I give up on tanking

You said your fingers were too large to type that correctly but it seems to be the only word you do it with.

I’m not a trump fan, I accused you as much when you kept doing this the last time.

You got that reference. Insert captain america meme.

Ahhhh, so intended trolling, got it, thx

Did you talk to the group beforehand and explain that this is how you roll? While not particularly fun, sometimes you have to put your foot down and tell the people you’re partying with that as the tank it’s your way or the highway. You can always get more dps if they disagree.
Find yourself some quality people that you can trust to not mess up and run dungeons with them and then alone if need be.

I hope you give tanking another shot in the future. Hopefully once the people who want to zerg to 60 get there and chill out we’ll see a change in the GOGOGO mentality that’s currently popular.
There will always be a call for good tanks if you ever do want to come back to it.

If you’re gonna keep doing the buzz word I’m gonna keep reminding you how clever it isn’t. Only every once in awhile though <3

Gotta wait until you and your friends have enough reports stored again hey ?

I’ve reported maybe 3 people ever on this forum, I wouldn’t use it like that.

I’m proud to say I always give the tank time to get aggro… because I’m using that time to pick pocket. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You just proved my point, of the people I’ve listed. Human beings are a sad lot nowadays. People like you are the reason tanks get so much crap, and there is a tank shortage.

And this is why the community fails to understand why there is a huge tank shortage. I recently made a tank myself and he’s almost 17. The RFC runs I’ve done has basically been the wild west. No one assists, no one lets me pull back, everyone goes crazy. Then the jumping around or running when they have aggro…

It’s enough to make one just say “lol I’m a dps now”. But, I think I’ll just find people I like playing with and avoid people who act this way in the long run.

On the reverse side of gogogogogogo people are the single pull wait for tanks to do 327 sunders people.

You need to learn that you don’t need to tank every single mob. Blizzard is like a 70%+ slow, if something goes wrong you can kite it out.

2019 players are 1000 times better than 2004 players, to think we would employ the same strategies is laughable.

How did I prove your point? By saying I LIKE TANKING?

By pointing out NEW PLAYERS are coming?

Explain yourself.

Because your attitude is discouraging people who want to give tanking a go and actually DO the job. Then people complain, and they already have, where are all the tanks.

It’s the same for a lot of MMOs. People wonder, especially at higher levels, where the tanks and healers are and quite a few of the tanks and healers reply “I no longer PUG” :stuck_out_tongue:

Here’s a pro tip if you like to PuG tank. Put ALL of the dps on ignore, just let the healer talk. Macro a little story about threat and to run TO the tank if they’re going to die and put it out there every time someone dies. Game becomes a lot more bearable this way as the big problem is the nasty intolerable gamer kids and their ridiculous attitudes. When you remove their abillity to throw shade they just become tools for you to get the job done and one one fails replace it with another from the endless list that would kill to be in their spot instead of spamming LFG. Know their place, put them in it. Make friends with the healers the DPS are just totally replaceable, may as well be NPC’s with poor AI these days.

Sure ignore one of the major pros of classic, by ignoring the community aspect, and lump all dps into one group.

You may only remember bad dps because you never hear the good ones trying to talk to you for strats or asking if you want something.

Adopt a hell or high water attitude. Remember these maxims, they have been true since the dawn of my tnaking back in vanilla.

The healer dies, thats is the tanks fault.
The Tank dies, it is the healers fault
The DPS dies, it is their own fault

combine this with

You yank it, YOU tank it.

Tanking at low levels is pretty rough, try to find groups than don’t want to do the AoE retail nuke. Sometimes it still hard 10 sec cd on taunt, but try to set a kill order and hopefully the dps can follow it.

I feel your pain OP, but I think it is really Blizzard who gave up on tanking. In almost all content in this game – outside of raids – there is no need for a tank. So, while I might prefer a traditional tank, healer, 3 dps run, what right do I have to demand that other players play that way? The game design favors a 4 dps + hybrid healer group comp.

You can still do it, by the way. I’ve been tanking in prot spec up to Uldaman and most groups have been good. But the current meta seems to be “tanking” as Arms and not worry too much about aggro. At least that is what the streamers are doing (Swifty is a bit of an exception – it works much better for him because he is top dps and always has a cooperative group). Nobody seems much concerned about aggro and frankly, prot doesn’t do much better in that regard (if at all).

You’re part of a team- it’s something tanks need to get used to. If there’s a better way for a team to do something than simply sitting around waiting for a low confidence tank to get aggro, then they’re going to go with the alternative.

Eventually you’ll get good and learn to keep aggro- keep in mind this is 1.12, when threat gen for tanks is at its easiest.

That seems a bit short-sighted. As Nevermore pointed out if you did that you’d never be able to communicate with the decent players that are wanting to learn and become better. Surely it’s more effective in the long run to help and foster the fledgeling players so you have a bigger pool of decent players to pug with when you’ve all leveled up rather than trying to save yourself the frustration now by ignoring them all?
