I give up on tanking

I just deal with it. If people die from not letting me do my job, not my fault. But I only tank to get groups going, not as a primary intended role. After I get 60 and my DPS gear is done, I’ll probably never tank again.

YES!

Welcome to the long queue of dps warrior where the other dps will give you awkward long stares when your waiting on a tank.

It’s been less than a month. It will take time for retail tourists to move on. Many of them won’t until they hit 60 and realize they don’t get purple gear just for logging in, leaving veteran players.

The issue isn’t lack of progression the issue is that when 3 DPS pick their own targets it makes my job fundamentally more chaotic and difficult to deal with to the point that some runs I’ve ended with a tension headache and had to log off afterwards.

It’s a domino effect. Less mobs hitting me = less rage generated = harder to get the mobs back if taunt/mocking blow is on cooldown. Compounded by a lot of players panicking and doing things like blinking, kiting, twitch fearing a mob into another pack.

Just because it seems ok on the surface or doesn’t seem to matter in the groups you’ve been in doesn’t mean it isn’t frustrating to deal with.

I’m confused, you where complaining how you can’t be personal punching bag because they aggro to much, and now you don’t want to be a personal punching bag?

I was just referring to 1 mob at like 10% health losing aggro lol.

Fair enough. That’s not an issue.

I’ve had a group where an enh shaman insisted on pulling additional mobs mid-fight with earth shock, using it on cooldown (generates additional threat) with rockbiter on the whole time (generates additional threat) purposefully attacking off-targets trying to pull aggro.

I’ve had priests bubble me on every pull and lead with mind blast and wonder why they have threat and everything’s going to hell. I’ve actually been considering making a macro that just removes pw: s from me when I run with priests lol

You an many others are assuming its retail doing this.

But new players are coming to the game, and a lot of them. Why would a newbie know to wait? When they are out in the world they just pull. Someone from retail has a better chance of knowing about threat because of Mythic+ than some newbie. It sounds like you and several other tanks had a newbie pull something or just burst fast and got upset and yelled at them. Instead of calmly explaining threat.

This isn’t even from the perspective of “lol dps” I tanked the exact same dungeon the OP is whining about in vanilla and I always have a tanking alt ready to go. I personally like tanking, which is why my DK is always leveled after my locks. Besides that I love the lore of those two classes.

Okay, now you are just trolling.

I have always tanked in wow on retail and now tanking in classic.

I don’t understand why other tanks get upset over other players or hunter pets. I run with a Hunter and let his pet tank a mob. Makes it easier.

Mages usually pull threat but with the amount of slows they have its no big deal because the mobs are usually dead by the time they get to the mage.

You’re in a group you all use your class tools to get the job done.

powershifting in bear ? how does this generate more threat than sitting in bear lol, unless you’re running furor which you generate more rage just sitting in bear anyway ?

If they don’t let you grab aggro then the real solution is to let the aggro kill them.

You do your job and then they do theirs. If they don’t like it, you and your healer are the two hardest classes to get, there’s always another DPS.

Man… I wouldn’t want to group with you either.

Until like level 30, it really doesn’t matter WHO has aggro. And by then, you’ll be much better equipped to hold threat compared to pre-20.

You’re fake news

If no one is close to dying, if your healer isn’t ooming every 3rd pull, if the dps is doing an amazing job, if the group isn’t stressed out and you are clearing at a reasonable rate then what’s the big deal?

I feel you, brother. I got spammed out of no where asking me to tank ZF. There was this warrior that was trying to be the tank. I don;t want to tank. I am willing to tank.

If I can’t charge first and get the mobs beating on me and positioned sanely before everyone attacks, I can’t generate rage, with no rage I can’t keep agro.

I stopped trying to get agro on non-bosses. Everyone thought I was crazy I when I wouldn’t give everyone thorns. No one should need thorns but me, the f^&%$%$ing tank. I’m the only one supposed to be getting hit.

I am really hoping the 60 lvl dungeons are exactly how I remember them where dps will have to learn their role and you almost always cc’ed with pulls of 3 (or more). Dps will have to learn how to play like sane dps and learn their role or they’ll never get in groups.

I’m almost level 30 and its only gotten worse. From what I am told at 60 its no different, everyone wants to dungeon cleave. Its really not worth tanking in classic, zero fun to be had.

Hmmm, is this a typo ?

Did you mean to say “you are” in which case I’d ask how person can be fake news, or did you mean “your” which would be the correct way to reference my comment.

Why am I not surprised in the least this came from an obvious trump fan. BTW, i’m aussie so that reference has little meaning over here.
