I give up on tanking

I dont disagree but I play to relax and have fun, not babysit people and be their dad. If the community at large feels this is acceptable and how tanks should be treated then I just wont tank. Judging by the majority of replies here this seems to be the case.

Oh, most definitely do not tank then.

Tanking requires leadership an active roll, not a 123456 rotation. Nothing wrong with DPSing, maybe thatā€™s more your nature.

No, it doesnt require leadership. It requires you people act like adults. You KNOW to give the tank a chance to get aggro and you willingly choose to do otherwise, leadership be damned. Have fun spamming LF TANK all day in trade chat as a result.

Thatā€™s fair. You only get so many hour(s) in the day to play, might as well use that time doing something fun.
What class do you think youā€™ll play instead? Healing is pretty fun imo, but does also feel a little bit like babysitting/herding cats sometimes lol

So what, you want to be elevated over everyone else because youā€™re a tank? I know thatā€™s how most tanks feel about others, that theyā€™re better and deserve special treatment- it actually makes me really happy that mage/lock/melee cleave have made tanks less important and other classes have some value in dungeons.

You say you donā€™t want to babysit people- but what you want is for everyone to do the run the way you want them to. So youā€™re contradicting yourself. If the best way to complete content is to kite through blizzard, or to have some adds be tanked and others dealt with by a dps- then thatā€™s how itā€™s going to happen.

You need to adapt- everyone else is. I didnā€™t do any of this IB/frost nova/ blizzard double mage pull combo stuff in any part of the game and Iā€™ve played since Vanilla- but thatā€™s whatā€™s happening, so I learned it rather than throwing a fit.

You sound like a child, angry you didnā€™t get your way even though your way is wrong, and stomping your feet instead of trying the better way.

Is not that hard!

Probably play mage casually. I was a healer most of vanilla when not tanking and dont really enjoy that much anymore. Can be fun but with no dual spec life at 60 is harsh.

Iā€™m lvl 48 and most dungeons I run dps are normal, sane people. ZF was the only one with hero-dps trying to be tanks. A couple others individuals got a little crazy but they corrected when the healers stopped healing them.

I heard the opposite about 60. I heard less cc is being used but people play like they used to (besides the lack of ccing).

I truly hope what I heard is right and what you heard is wrong. And honestly, before that ZF run I would have said what you are saying is incorrect as it goes against every single dungeon Iā€™ve tanked so far besides that one, including all 4 SMs with a mostly different group each time, deadmines, BFD, stocks, etc, etc.

As I said above, I am not a tank - Iā€™m leveling as feral so can tank, but Iā€™d much prefer to dps. The only two times I got to dps was my second run on some things. But groups have overwhelmingly been normal with instances of individuals being crazy. ZF was the exception, and the healer was somehow able to heal with agro all over the place and we still downed gazrilla or whatever the dragon boss in the poolā€™s name is.

Where did I say I wanted to be elevated exactly? How is calling for a little f*cking respect asking for elevation?

Your whole post is basically saying my enjoyment of the game is subservient to your inability to control yourself.

I give up on Naxx!!!

Tsnking isnā€™t for eveyone. Find what you enjoy. Have fun.

Contradicting yourself indeedā€¦

Anyway, for me itā€™s not even about aggro. Thatā€™s ultimately not an issue. If I want aggro back, Iā€™ll take it. Might be a few seconds if tauntā€™s on cooldown, but Iā€™ll get it back, even if I have to run 20 yards to do it. Itā€™s a pain, but itā€™s not hard, so donā€™t you worry your little head.

For me the issue is positioning. Itā€™s when Iā€™m clearly trying to los pull (often announcing such in chat), and the dps open up before Iā€™ve gotten everything where I want it to be. Itā€™s when I mark skull and itā€™s blatantly ignored throughout the entire dungeon to the point where I just stop doing it.

Yeah I donā€™t know how Iā€™ll cope without duel spec on my druid at 60. Guess Iā€™ll just have to be only resto and hope for the best? šŸ¤·
I havenā€™t played a mage but they seem fun. Very efficient at soloing from what I hear so they might be exactly what youā€™re after. Happy leveling. ^^

This isnā€™t about him not enjoying tanking - its about him being annoyed that dps donā€™t know their roles, the mechanics, or how to play. His complaint isnā€™t about tanking, its about dps acting like tanks and idiotic children with no clue. Its a valid post and a valid gripe if he hasnā€™t gotten any competent groups with competent players.

Did you not know that we have already cleared Naxx many, many times?

It was at its easiest, till they nerfed demo shout. Now thatā€™s no longer true.

If youā€™re a mage and you go HAM as soon as a warrior pulls then thereā€™s no way that tank will keep aggro. And you can decide to play that way if you want, but donā€™t be surprised if no warrior will tank for you when you actually do need a tank.

At that point - L17 - in the deadlines, you have a few ways to create threat but your rage production is gimped, your hit rate is stifled and your damage is minimal. Keeping multiple mobs attention is tough and you are also dealing with team members who have limited options at their disposal and little to mitigate their threat. The biggest thing you need to do is get people to assist you- hit your primary target. But it definitely feels like a scrum at this point. People will figure it out and you do control the pulls. You can dictate more than you think

You wouldnā€™t have to take it back if dps knew their role and the mechanics. Unless you are tanking as a paladin or shaman, you depend on enemies hitting on you for rage generation so you in turn can generate threat that keeps the agro. For warriors they usually throw sunder armor tabbing through the mobs, ferals use swipe. Both have demoralizing shout like abilities. All require rage to be generated by being hit to get them off on multiple targets.

Aaah! Itā€™s good to be a mage!

You need frostbolts? I got frostbolts! Out of mana? No problem! I got a wand! Tank canā€™t keep aggro? No sweat! Iā€™ll just slooow dooowwn. Easy peasy!
