I just crank this here leeever on the telephone box and Mable up in town picks it up , I asks her to connect me Blizzard so’s I can get that authenticator code. Dont rightly know why anyone else needs anything more. Shoot. /spit

Not really. WinBMA takes all of 10 seconds to install and 2 minutes to setup.
For the SMS, like I said, you can use a free service once which takes a few seconds, or hire a dedicated number in a SMS gateway for $1/month, which is much cheaper than any phone plan will ever be.
All you get with the phone is a little more convenience for a steeper price.
I get why some people would avoid it entirely.
The authenticator is require to create a group in the group finder not participate in one
And I’ve always believed that 2 steps works better with different devices. If you put them on the same with emulator, doesn’t that actually raise the risk?
I still use the Authenticator Fob I got from Wotlk/Cata the one with the Corehound image on it.
Plus every time they walk into Wal Mart, Kroger, whatever, they swipe their card so their name, what they’re buying is tracked.
It’s just funny to me that people want their land line to be not be tracked by “The Man” when they have been tracked since they day they were born.

Blizzard or any company for that matter shouldn’t have to worry about people that refuse and or cant afford a phone…
There is no getting around this…either join the 21 century or don’t choice is up to you

Definitely. But the point here is not security, but in-game convenience.
If security was a point of contention, you’d have an isolated device for it.
But it’s a freaking game account.

I pay $80 a month for internet, that I use for other things than wow.
Same for electricity. If I measured how much of my electricity bill was represented by wow it would probably be an amount measured in cents per year.
My last pc upgrade before last year was 10 years ago.
I don’t have social media anything except for battlenet and I usually leave myself as show offline.
Drivers license is a requirement to drive my car, same for registration. Having an app on my actual physical phone is not a requirement to play wow, at least not yet and yes that will be a dealbreaker for me if that day ever comes.
That’s because they don’t use their own accounts. They steal the accounts of the idiots who keep clicking on the obvious phishing site links.

Actually it is just required if you want to use a custom title for your group, you can still form one and use the default provided one.

Sounds like you’ve already made a decision.
That’s an issue I don’t have to deal with as I have the authenticator and SMS protect on my account. I don’t normally use group finder at all but can if I wish.

Mine said Blizzard across the front. After about a year of pushing the button harder and harder (I dont know if that even works) it gave up the ghost last year.
