it wont carry the whole game, but it does feel a hell of a lot better than normal flying
When you are older and not a kid, it is.
I bet im older than you lol
Considering i started playing vanilla when i was 24 you do the math
It’s fun and easy and faster sometimes
I can cross the entire continent in two minutes. Waaay less downtime now.
I hardly think the majority of people who enjoy DR think it is the end all be all saving grace of the game. We’re just happy we aren’t grounded for 7 months dealing with obtusely designed terrain jumping puzzles.
There had to be a catch for flying, and for all the catches Blizz could use, this is the least awful I think.
I wonder what else they had on the brainstorming board:
- You can fly, but you die every time you land.
- You can fly, but there’s a 90% chance a lightning bolt will instantly kill you.
- You can fly, but it has a 1 hour cooldown every time you dismount.
- You can fly, but you have to pay 20 dollars extra per month.
- You can fly, but you can’t ever use transmog features or the barbershop because… reasons.
- You can fly, even at extremely high speeds, though you will need to find some items and learn to use your movement keys in rather awkward ways and early on you’ll need to stop and wait for a few moments before flying again.
I’m glad they went with DR as the final choice.
nobody cares
Dragoon riding is amazing the wow dev team has really out done themself so far. To me this is the best expansion launch ever. So much to do in the outside world!! So many reps to grind . Professions are so amazing and in depth.
M+ and Raid haven’t even been released yet and I already have so much to do.
Thank you wow dev team
Ya, considering I already said I was 50. You might want to quit while you are behind.
But Dragonriding may used as an excuse for devs to never add actual flying to DF zones or future zones. All those hundreds of beautiful mounts we spent years collecting will go to waste.
I want to press my space bar and actually be able to fly upward and not fall down when I am out of Vigor.
The best solution in my opinion would be to allow both Dragonriding and actual flying to please the audience that wants a minigame, as well as the audience that wants to actually fly and have more control over it.
Dragonriding is just glorified gliding. The problem is not that some players enjoy it, but that devs have been waging a war on actual flying ever since WoD.
I really don’t care if dragonriding continues to be a thing but for the love of god give us real flying alongside it.
Dragon riding is better than regular flying, and the only people who disagree are people with motion sickness issues (which is fair) and people who play the game like a job and see (more) realistic physics in flying as an impediment to getting their in-game chores done
If traditional WoW flying were actually desirable then you’d see it in more games, like those in the Grand Theft Auto series, Battlefield series, etc. You can’t hover at a static point in the air in GTA5 (hovering in a helicopter or other vehicle with vertical propulsion doesn’t count because the aircraft is still affected by gravity and turbulence and you can’t go afk or you’ll probably die)
The old air-swimming style of flying is only good for games where motion is not meant to be part of the fun, but it is now for WoW. I think they need to allow dragon-riding everywhere and delete traditional flying from the game, immediately!
alot of us are just happy we have flying day 1.
there’s no further appeal for the MAJORITY of people. we are just happy we have flying early.
Eh your only 9 years older
You do you man, at the end of the day, nobody has a gun to your head, your not forced to do Dragon Riding, just you will be very behind everyone else who is doing and loves it… or hates it… doesnt matter.

You can fly, but there’s a 90% chance a lightning bolt will instantly kill you.
Nokhud Offensive… Blizzard… you need to fix that… because I get the dragon riding being grounded for that portion of the dungeon… But I cant double jump, I cant VR, I cant GLIDE without a getting bolted to the ground randomly

There are a lot of posts on this thread that support the latter as being the more common. They want easy, plop down on a node and fly off gathering rather than the more challenging gathering on dragons that the majority of others are doing. if they DO add regular old flight, it better be at regular old speed, because they will already have an advantage at targeting, landing and taking off from gathering nodes. At least people playing the expansion as designed should have the speed advantage to make up for having to control velocity and vigor in getting to a node and then back up into the air again. No one should suffer a penalty for playing the expansion as designed.
Coming out of the gladiators refuge and performing a series of maneuvers that places me directly in front of an auctioneer in a matter of seconds. The fact that it actually takes some skill to do well. The fact it is a simple + that and with it World of Warcraft is a better game than without it.
I didnt like it at first either, but the more i used it, the more i really like it and I’m happy blizz made this feature for the game
